Point is, Nairaland ranks very high in local search results within the region, and when people click on the search results, they are probably trying to get a general feel of what Nigerians think about the issue searched, this thread inclusive. All they find would mostly be "Nazi", "cultists", and the likes.

No insults would be good (ironic coming from me since my username is literally "diss troy" but that's just a persona). Doxxing would be even more damaging as its first page result for those who, unlike me, do not have proper reputation management tools put in place to relegate these negative search results to the background or get them deleted from Google archives. One of the reasons I held back from doxxing the Sports Section guy who tried something close with me on the first day of this month even though I have his details.

Oh, and the insults here feed growths of hatred. In the heat of the moment, you can damage the other person for life. The kind of insults here stem mostly from hatred rivaled by Twitter Nigeria feminists. No, we don't have to be chummies or buddies or even necessarily know what the other persons look like. Just debate.

Daily 24-hours blackouts of insults, and just debating? That would interesting. Far-fetched but the prospect seems interesting still.

I'd actually prefer the debates without insults. Last week, Benalvino2 began an interesting debate about Critical Race Theory. I was actually expecting the supposed non-combatant members (as I myself was in 'combat mode' for two whole days before then and would only have come off as aggressive if I did debate it so I took a back seat) to debate it with him. I kept returning, my ban regardless, hoping there'd be a debate for and against it. Sadly, there was none as the people he tried debating it responded with only insults.

Missed opportunity to genuinely share ideas and perspective about a topical issue.

You know what would be better than the Sunday Rule? Agreeing anyone who insults at any point of the day would be banned by the moderators. A week of constant bans might deter everyone and make them insist on debating issues.

I could decide to be inactive today then go on to insult from tomorrow. That's the limitation of the Sunday thingy.
