Understand and master the basics first:
- Procedural programming
- Object oriented programming

Then in a year or so, you can start to decide which areas you'd like to specialize in. Current hot topics using python are:
- Data Science
- Machine learning (broad area of expertise)
- Web3 interaction (if you're into crypto)

N.b: I'm studying mechanical engineering and I'd love to specialise on the part of python that's related to mechanical engineering..
