In addition to your question, Why is it that Pharmacy is not included in the COC courses when those who couldn't meet the cut-off have been asked to get COC?

Will there be second list for Pharmacy Department? If yes, who are those that will be there when they've been asked to get COC?

If those that get COC are still going to be among those that will be admitted to Pharmacy, is it rational or logical enough? Can't there be another criteria for getting COC?

Last yr, after d first list for merit students on law, a very firm source told me dia was a msg from then upper board to increase the number of law students, so, dey had a meeting and started considering some with closer marks that opted for COC and staff kids that had above 50... now, to the question, I THINK(in capital ) UI will just make the less occupied dpts not included on the list a random pick from all laid down criterias... c, ui knew students will def troop to those departments since dey have sweet names and attachments, so dey prefer getting more candidates on the courses we candidates tend to detest while they do dia own indoor shortlisting to those departments with their own guidelines for those that worth it alone! But dear, if u want a very affirmative answer, u can beep brother VC himself,cos all we can do Here is guess, guess and guess... no one knows what UI is using as their admission criteria dis yr, asides the merit list, every other decision lies with the board #Shikena

10 people walked into a fast-food joint to chow meat-pie(mbbs), and 5 were served the meat-pie(merit-list). The food attendant(admission office/officer) then realised the meat-pie left wldnt be enough, and discreetly told d remaining 5 dat it seems meat-pie wldnt be enuf for all, and told them to try sausage. 3 of d friends opted for sausages while the other 2 didn't make alternative demand. Here's what I feel wld happen...........

If the meat-pie left is jst 2, the attendant wld serve those who alternatively asked for sausage the sausages, and offer the 2 people the meat-pie left, since the other 3 have already settled for sausages(altho discretion wld be applied).

But in the case where there is no more meat-pie left, the 3 dat opted for sausage wld get a snack at least, while the 2 who didn't make alternative demand might nt be served.

So it's a misplaced notion to feel or say those who didn't apply for C.O.C wld be considered as nt interested in admission anymore. The main factor is the quota. If there are spaces left, those who didn't opt for C.O.C and scored closest to cut-off wld surely be considered for 2nd batch, as against what lexxy and JSM quoted!

Lolz... u no dey tire for argument.. your view as you said, might not b the line and strategy used on the admission this year.. Marc, the university is not at loss If a student did not get admitted just because he/she did not follow the stipulated law! it was boldly written that all candidates that did not meet up with the cut off should do COC, and even if you will now expect a.miracle, u need to just be obedient at first.. 1samuel 15:22..."To obey is better than sacrifice" .. Even if the university will go by what u typed up there, they will still prefer those that had closer marks and opted for COC, than a candidate that doesn't even have anyone in the university to bank on for some staff list(as heard), didn't obey the rule and keeps praying for a miracle... Plenty are called but few were chosen... I believe in miracle thou, so much...

Swthrt I didn't mean to. But if u've been visiting the site, u'l realise the info on the site are old info. Even if u click on www.admission.ui.edu.ng, what pops out is PGD 2013/2014 biodata update form. That indicates the site is having a problem. And if the s
ite is not rectified, there's no how the list wld be released cos they are meant to release the 2nd batch on the site as well as publish it in d dailies(newspaper)

So, jst try to exercise patience! The list wld be out b4 the end of october!

Thanks for that vindication! When I was saying this then, some youngsters were refuting it, disrespecting me, even insulted me.

Well, like I said earlier, merit list is a dubbed name for 1st list or 1st batch, cos the candidates on the list were candidates who beat the normal cut-off(merit) and also the catchment/ELDS cut-off.

Again, UI is a federal university and must surely abide by stipulation laid by fed govt to admit certain candidates based on ELDS, and also admit one candidate per state for all 36states(dats if all state-candidates applied for mbbs). Here's d maths....

Stipulated percentage for all federal universities is 40%merit, 40%catchment, and 20% ELDS. Nw for UI dat has all the states as catchment, their percentage for catchment is one candidate from each state. Thus, MBBS might record no northern applicants who eida didn't choose UI, or didn't make 200above in jamb, or didnt score 50% above in p.utme. So dat means we're left with 17 states. By virtue of locality, more of yoruba candidates wld apply in UI(since d sch is in south-west) than other tribes. That explains why a candidate from Oyo state with 79 wldnt make d catchment, while someone from ekiti or kogi or ebonyi with 78 wld make d list, and it's simple.... There are too many Oyo candidates for MBBS. Likewise Ogun, Lagos, and probably Ondo.

So, the 100 candidates dat was chosen was based on merit+catchment(in which less dan 17 candidates were chosen from each state that scored highest, since I assumed northern applicants are missing out), den some hand-full for ELDS.

I sha know all this will clear off when the second list gets released dis week as posted by Lexxybooy, though someone said 15th and claimed its from a reliable source also...

There are no backdoors in UI(I can argue this with facts), if you don't worth it, you won't get it. And if you worth it, you would get it definitely
