I have an issue. I set an appointment date for interview for international passport on immigration website. I can't meet up with it as some documentations are being delayed that needs to be submitted. I tried rescheduling, but the website said the center does not support re-scheduling .

You don't need marriage certificate for your passport. But your wife has to change her name on NIN before registration for passport.

Now the thing I noticed with NIN is, not all centres follow the process of requiring all documents before they effect a name change. Even though I went with marriage certificate for my wife's name change, they only took the affidavit.

If your name on NIN is the same with your husband's name. Then only affidavit should work. I personally think you don't even need the affidavit as long as your NIN name is carrying your husband's name already and it is a new passport too.

I am the husband actually. But I am actually asking for both of us . My wife still has her old name on her NIN . Would just an affidavit suffice for her .

Do men need to go with a marriage certificate ? . Because when registering online, I filled the form indicating that I am married .

You will still have to go to court. You can't have original marriage certificate without court. Go there and explain to them. It can be at least 4 ppl that will attend the court. U, ur spouse and 2 other ppl to sign for you. I did the same thing. No paparazzi, no dancing, no snapping. Just sign and collect the certificate. We spent less than 10 minutes.

I am just curious if there is any form of other document I can use to represent evidence of marriage, for international passport, its kind of urgent . If I have to go the marriage court route, the entire process would take at least a month.

I know this section of Nairaland, is filled with married people. I am confident this issue isn't peculiar to me, someone here might have had this issue and solved it . I would really appreciate if anyone who has faced something similar can recommend the best approach, especially with the urgency.

The goal is to obtain the certificate, or some sort of certification without having to go through the process of doing the "court wedding" .
