A New Jersey mother was sentenced to eight years in prison for the death of her newborn daughter.

The Franklin Township woman named Jade Fanz, 21, pleaded guilty to reckless manslaughter by choking her newborn daughter until she died, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

The crime came to light, according to authorities, when she visited a hospital for treatment of an apparent medical complication related to the birth.

The body of the newborn was found on February 27, 2016, on the property of her family's Franklinville home on Proposed Avenue. Officials said Fanz has been held in jail since then.

She was originally charged with murder and other counts, but pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter on April 11, 2018. Under terms of a plea, officials said Fanz must serve 85 percent of her sentence before she is eligible for parole

After 3 months, I'd been able to pay only 100k of the remaining 350k & the car owner came to my house one day to seize the car. Lol. I can laugh now but it wasn't funny back then. I remember my dad followed me to the man's house to beg for him to return it to me and give me more time. The man refused. So I was carless for about 2 months but because I knew how important having a car was to my business (I was always running around), I knew it was top priority to raise the balance.

A teenager who gunned down a chef then boasted about the murder on social media has been sentenced to life in prison.

Raheem Benson, 18, from Colorado, was ordered to serve life in prison Friday in the death of 33-year-old Nicholas Lewis in Englewood, news station KMGH reported. 

Benson allegedly targeted Lewis at random while the chef was walking home from a convenience store in October 2016. Prosecutors said the then-16-year-old Benson shot him three times, including in the heart. Lewis was found lying on his back on the sidewalk and rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

Benson then reportedly took to Facebook to brag about the slaying. He also posted photos in which he posed with the mask he wore and the gun he used, the Denverite reported. Police were able to link Benson to the crime from a vehicle seen on security camera footage.

Benson was found guilty of first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder and attempted aggravated robbery in March. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years.

District Attorney George H. Brauchler expressed disappointment Friday that the teen’s sentence included the possibility of parole after 40 years.

Brauchler said: "Benson murdered for the mere thrill of killing another person. At any age, this can only be described as evil. Colorado’s system is now set up to ensure that this cold-blooded murderer will again walk our streets, likely as early as in his 40s. We can only hope that his heart is turned away from darkness in the couple of decades he is incarcerated and we are safe from him."

Several artifacts were plundered from Nigeria by the British during the colonial rule, and the government has said they want them back.

According to The Art Newspaper, a group of European museums and Nigerian parties are pushing for a return of the artifacts to their home country.

The group, known as the Benin Dialogue Group, comprises of nine museums across London, Cambridge, Oxford, Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Vienna and Stockholm. It also includes a consortium of 4 Dutch ethnographic museums.

It has been reported that a royal museum will be built in Benin, Edo State, and while it isn’t certain if the loan will be made, the construction is seen as the first step.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, said the state is open to bringing the artifacts back home. He said:

Whatever terms we can agree to have them back so that we can relate to our experience, relate to these works that are at the essence of who we are, we would be open to such conversations.

In some cases it could be a permanent loan and in some cases it (could) just be for temporary display. In other cases it could be a return of works.
The decision to establish a world-class museum will encourage curators across Europe to be confident to support the safe return.

Ex-WWE superstar Vader has died … after a two-year battle with congestive heart failure. He was 63.

Vader’s son broke the news on social media, saying, “Around a month ago my father was diagnosed with a severe case of Pneumonia. He fought extremely hard and clinically was making progress. Unfortunately, on Monday night his heart had enough and it was his time.”

Vader had undergone open-heart surgery back in March and seemed to be doing well — but his health took a turn for the worse and he wasn’t able to recover.
We spoke with Vader just a few months ago — right after his surgery — and he told us he was feeling better and looking forward to getting out of the hospital. He was super nice to us.

Before his wrestling career, Vader — real name Leon White — was a football star at the University of Colorado where he was a 2-time All-American offensive lineman.

He was drafted by the Rams in the 3rd round of the 1978 NFL Draft and played in Super Bowl XIV against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As a pro wrestler, Vader was a huge star globally — he was a 3-time WCW heavyweight champ. In WWE, he famously battled guys like The Undertaker and Kane.

He also made TV appearances on shows like “Baywatch” and “Boy Meets World.”

Super Eagles assistant captain, Ogenyi Onazi has dismissed reports he and the national team captain,John Mikel Obi are having a rift in camp ahead of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
It was claimed that both stars are no longer on talking terms due to a fight for leadership and it’s distracting other players in camp.

A source in the camp says the friction is largely due to Onazi’s refusal to take orders from Mikel.

”If we must do well in Russia, the NFF must ensure they resolve the wrangling between Mikel and Onazi. Both players I can confirm are not in talking terms and this could cost the team at the World Cup. As we speak, the tussle is a big distraction for the team. Some players have also pitched their tents with either Mikel or Onazi in the struggle. A video of pupils in Kano state being served food in sheets of paper has gone viral. The video was released by the Voice of America Hausa yesterday June 4th.

According to VOA Hausa, the pupils complained that the food they were being given lacked ingredients like the one their parents give to them at home.

When the reporter asked why the pupils were being served food on pieces of papers, the teachers who refused to give their names, said the Federal government told them they were going to provide them with plates but they are still waiting for the plates.
