The National Secretary of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Dr James Okoroma has explained why the party did not sign the Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PDP and 38 other political parties to form a grand alliance to unseat the APC,

Speaking with DAILY POST in Calabar, Dr Okoroma said the party was still studying the situations of things.

“When the coalition started, a technical committee was formed, I was made a member of that committee, former External Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi was the Chairman, Kema Chikwe, Gabriel Suswan, former governor of Benue, former governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke were all members of the committee.

“But we have also taken a second look at the whole thing. We believe that PDP hasn’t done well as a political party, they got us to where we are, they had 16 years of uninterrupted democracy under their leadership, they brought the country down. In every sector of the economy, health, infrastructures, everything went down.

“We thought we were getting out of that situation when we brought a man without an agenda, a man who has no business of being in government, President Mohammed Buhari. He has left the country more divided than what it was and we are almost losing our country.

“President Buhari has not done any concrete thing for the country, point out one thing he has done in three years. Jonathan started the East-West road, Jonathan started the 2nd bridge across the Niger, all the rail lines, Jonathan initiated them, and Jonathan established the 12 Federal Universities.

“He only came to establish conflict in Nigeria. He has turned the country into the theatre of war, bloodletting, reducing the value of human lives and making life the cheapest community, and Nigerians can’t sleep with their two eyes closed,” he explained.

“PDP and APC are two sides of the same coin, that is our consideration for now. And that is not to say, we will not join forces with other progressives to move the country forward, we are doing that. There will be another MoU to be led by former President, Chief Obasanjo, we are also working with him”.

He said, “We didn’t sign that agreement/MOU. I was supposed to sign it on behalf of the Party but I was here (Calabar, Cross River State), we are in touch with all progressives to change the situation in our country. PDP and APC are not alternative to our country’s problem, unless Nigeria wants to go back to Egypt,” he added.

Consequently, on the structure of the party in Cross River State, Dr Okoromo said, “We have no parallel structure in Cross River State, we have Dr Vincent Tawo Ebu as our authentic state Chairman, Engineer Patrick Ngom is not our state Chairman and he should stop parading himself as chairman.

“We came to look at the party’s structures in the State as well as meet with some of the leaders of the Party and then be able to establish the true situation of things because Cross River State is very important to us.

“Some of the leaders from here are getting in touch with us and that they can’t see the party on ground. So I am here for an independent assessment of the situation on ground.”

He urged the leadership to sit up, “Nobody would give you power, you have to take power because it is a generational challenge, if you have a platform, you must use it well.

“We had leadership problems in Ebonyi State where we have four Chairmen, each with a good secretariat, we have just resolved that and integrated everybody and we now have a single well streamlined and defined leadership structure. “We had a similar problem in Benue and the former Vice-Chancellor is the state chairman of the party and we had the same problem in Rivers and it is still on,” he recalled.

The recent cave rescue involving a boys soccer team and their coach in Thailand has been an attention-grabbing story the last two weeks and now it will become the synopsis of a new movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will become a movie under Pure Flix Entertainment, which is the faith-based production company behind the “God’s Not Dead” film franchise.

Michael Scott, the CEO, and co-founder of Pure Flix Entertainment, lives in Thailand part-time and was at the scene of the rescue and witnessed everything first hand. He said, “the bravery and heroism I’ve witnessed is incredibly inspiring, so, yes, this will be a movie for us. It’s not necessary to make this a Christian film, just an inspirational one.”



Scott said he has already spoken with some of the 90 divers that were involved in the rescue mission, as well as some of the family members of the boys who were trapped in the cave. Scott’s personal connection to the story involves his wife’s friendship with former Sgt. Saman Kunan’s wife. Unfortunately, Sgt. Kunan passed while volunteering.

Screenwriters will be lined up within the next few weeks and the film will carry a budget of $30 million to $60 million. “This was truly a team effort involving Brits, Aussies, Americans and Thais, and the divers told us incredible stories. They had less than five meters’ visibility, fought harsh currents and used a buddy system of two divers for each boy rescued. It was a monumental effort,” said Scott

Juventus and Real Madrid have agreed a £105million fee for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal captain has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A champions and will join on a four-year deal which could see him earn as much as €30m-a-season.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has claimed that the killings across the country was an indication of an impending catastrophic end to Nigeria.

IPOB warned that the killings would destroy Nigeria unless its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is “released from military detention” and allowed to conduct “referendum in peace”.

The group said its leader foretold the persistent killings across the country.

The pro-Biafra group also faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid, saying he was coming to enthrone Hausa, Fulani supremacy over the rest of Nigerians.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the pro-Biafra group said, “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu via Radio Biafra broadcasting from London foretold what is to befall Nigeria

Runtown has been in and out of the court with his ex-label, Eric Many Records. The label dragged him to court over breach of contract and the case has been back and forth. In March, 2018, the label issued a statement about the case against the singer. The statement read,
“he (Runtown) went for a show in Las Vegas since January 13th, 2018 and has since decided to withdraw all obligations of his contract. He has steadily been recording an album without the consent and approval of his record label.”
In June, 2018, Runtown launched a label called Sound God Music Group and he released a track titled Unleash. Eric Many Records general manager, Johnson Adumike, has released a fresh statement in reaction to Runtown’s recent moves. In the statement he reiterated that the singer breached his contract with the label and that he owes the label hundreds of millions of Naira. He stated that the label is aware that the singer is no longer interested in working with them and their demand in court is not to force the singer to continue with the label but for him to fulfill the terms of his contract which includes refunding the said sum and delivering an album to the label.

“we are in Court with Runtown for his breach of our Recording Contract. We sued him because while applying to the Registrar of Trademarks in Abuja to register professional names licensed to us during the duration of our contract, Runtown also unilaterally terminated our Recording Contract with him’.
‘While our Contract is supposed to fall due for expiration on 22nd June 2018, Ericmany has an outstanding balance of about N266,694,755.08 to recoup on our investment and expenses on Runtown. He also failed to deliver an Album which the Contract requires him to deliver to us during the Contract Period. Under the contract if there is outstanding money or Album by 22nd June, 2018, end of the Contract Period, the Contract enters into an Option Period of one year. Runtown has neither honoured the Contract Period nor the Option Period. Following our application, Abuja High Court made an Interim Order on 10th May, 2018, barring Runtown from any performance or recording of any song outside our Contract until the issues are sorted out by Court.

‘The Judge also ordered that status quo be maintained until our Motion praying for this protection is decided. Yet on 27th June, 2018 Runtown released a new song outside our Contract. Determined to follow due process in our dispute with Runtown we have filed a Contempt of Court case against him. Following Court Order to serve Runtown by publication in the Punch, our Notice of Contempt of Court is published at page 22 of The Punch Newspaper today.

If he still fails to respect Court Order by removing the song, we will follow up with the next steps to ensure Runtown is committed to prison, since he is not above the law.
‘If he felt the Court Order is wrong, his lawyer has already appeared in Court and filed papers. It is for his lawyer to show the Court that the Order is wrong. It is not open to Runtown to ignore Court Order. It is important to state that we are at home with the fact that Runtown does not intend to continue working with us. We are not in any confusion about that.

We have therefore not asked the Court to order him to continue working with us. Our case is for recovery of our money and the Album he owes in line with the Contract. It is the duty of both sides to abide by Court Orders. So Ericmany will continue to rely on due process until we get justice’.

A 15 year-old former Boko Haram bomb maker, Ali Goni has made a chilling confession about how he made over 500 underwear Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) used by insurgents for suicide missions on soft targets in the last five years.

Ali Goni was only ten years old and in primary six when he was kidnapped in Bama. The military authorities described the teenager as the most deadly Boko Haram member, who had mastered various techniques that can cause maximum destruction of lives.

Army intelligence sources said the suspect is the most innovative bomb maker to emerge in recent years.

Goni, who is undergoing rehabilitation at a military detention camp in Maiduguri, told NAN recently that he assembled IEDs with fragmented materials and configure them for suicide missions. He said he introduced the use of padlock to IEDs strapped on bombers that can hardly be demobilised or detected by bomb detectors.

“I was kidnapped along with my mother in Bama’s Kawuri Street by Baba Kaka, a dreaded Boko Haram commander. They took us to Sambisa and kept us in a camp called “Kwalfata”. We underwent various training in the camp. During the course of our induction training, I was selected to be trained on bomb making technique, bomb detection as well as identifying and demobilising explosives.

I refused initially, but they said they would kill my mother just like the way they killed my father when they stormed Bama. So I eventually agreed. During the training, many of my colleagues died while trying to make bombs. At the end I emerged the best among all. My job was to make many bombs that would be used for suicide missions. I was working under the supervision of Baba Musa, a 70 year-old.

Musa also thought me the new technique of making underwear IED with padlock. At some point, I was the only bomb maker when all those I was trained with were killed by the military during several attacks. So they took me from camp to camps to make IEDs for suicide missions.

I was in Kangarwa, Pulka, Banki and other camps. I managed to escape when the military bombed our camp in Baga. I ran to Cameroon where I surrendered to the Cameroonian forces. I was later handed over to the Nigeria military.

Goni hoped to be a soldier in the future to help the military in identifying IEDs. The military did not allow his photographs to be taken because of his age
