Last year brought ups & down, but we are still here.
It's quite unfortunate that our yearly PUNT for PRIDE tournament that we all look up to couldn't take place last year because of things beyond our control. I don't want to say much about it cos as much as I tried, it pains me that the tournament didn't come to fruition.
But let's still PUNT our PUNT and grind on.
Here is wishing us a Happy New Year and a great punting season.

Anonymous1900: Hello Nigerians/Nairalanders
I have been away in silent mode for a while but something caught my attention deeply enough to draw me back from the group of silent observers to share with you again.
I wont bore you with too much plesantries and go straight into thr crux of the matter.
Sometimes last week i got a call in the office from a "indian" lady who told me they were conducting a market survey for ******* Bank and would like to know if i could spare 5 minutes for the anonymous survey. i was unfortunately very busy at the time so i asked her to call back next week (ie this week) thinking she wold simply move on to other callers and i forgot about the whole issue.
To my suprise i got a call before 8am today and the person repeated the same lines about the survey and again it was an "indian" lady though i cant be sure if its the same person or not.
After the call ended, it got me thinking as to what just happened and i was so pained when it dawned on me few minutes later i had to share the following observations with possible like minds to know if am over thinking it or things are not as bad as they appeared to me.
My observations: 1. An indian called me with a nigerian number (both times) to conduct a market survey in nigeria for a nigeria bank. 2. There was the brief pause of few seconds between my response and her response to tell me it was an international call routed through a nigerian number. I lived abroad long enough to know most of the call center and market survey jobs were been outsourced to India and we often joked about it at work back then about the accent and difficulty in understanding but am suprised nigeria has now degenerated to the point where our peopole are no longer even good for contract staff but now they are taking the jobs completely overseas 3. Has our governemnt completely let us down up to the point where minor jobs which high school leaers or even university students could undertake for stipends been farmed out offshore to countries like india who have the labour ( i read sometime ago about certain companies taking nigerian jobs offshore and remotely operating from overseas with little or skeletal staff left here in nigeria) 4. As a nigerian we understand different types of english however bad or weird it sounds so i could make out what she was trying to say however she could not understand me properly and am not suprised since the indian expartriates in my company also have a hard time understanding phone conversations and often need interpretation .
Finally after the call, i came to the conclusion that we could simply make a statement in support of our brothers/sisters who might need such a job to support or boost themselves preventing this rape of our economy since our goverment wont help us by saying politely "Am sorry I cant understand your english, could you please ask a Nigerian to call Back! " or whatever you think might work but please be polite. Am sure if we repeat this enough times, the company that hired them might rethink the outsourcing of this job to foreigners when there are millions of unemployed persons here at home. And no matter how long the company tries to cover up this fact eventually it will get out. We are only as strong as our collective actions
Now i know this might rob some people wrong (along the racist lines/bigotry etc) but at what point do we simply say enough is enough and start helping ourselves. A foreign colleague told me he does not buy stuff from china cos it damages his home economy and we were talking about common umbrellas . It was a conscious decision he made even though he his not at home, he still thinks to protect his country and economy. why cant we do the same!
Lets be patriotic, lets support our own, lets be Nigerians in whatever way we can! God bless you all #foodforthought

Romance › Re: Who would you marry? The one you love or the one who loves you. by Diza46(f): 10:49pm On May 22, 2022 |
Toks2008: But unfortunately many ladies don't marry the man that loves them but they would rather go for the one they love.
Have you ever heard a lady say "I know John loves me but I don't have feelings for him"?
This is the reality of many ladies. Every lady has phronesis(a special type of intelligence) that makes them know if a guy truly wants them but they usually ignore that intelligence and usually follow their feelings.
So whilst you may conclude to marry the one that loves you, if you have the option of picking between a fat short unattractive man that loves you so genuinely and a tall drop dead gorgeous guy who just want to woo you to catch fun, you may most likely go for the latter.
This is why heartbreaks and sad love stories will never end.
If every woman goes for a man who truly loves her and not just the one she has feelings for, they will experience less heartbreaks. right |
Romance › Re: Who would you marry? The one you love or the one who loves you. by Diza46(f): 8:53pm On May 22, 2022 |
Toks2008: Let me paraphrase this so that it can make more sense. Would you rather be with someone who wishes to be with another person? Because this is the case if you find yourself married to the one you love who does not love you and YES people marry without really wanting to be with the person they are married to.
This may sound so twisted but it is not at all. It is the dream of many people to be with someone they love who also loves them in return but we all know that this is seldom the case as we usually have the feelings tilted in one direction and as they say, the person who loves less in a relationship holds the power over the other.
I have met ladies who i love and i have met those who love me and i can tell you for a fact that these two categories are not in anyway alike.
When you love someone and they don't feel same way, you usually see yourself having to do more of the work to make it work and in most cases, you are taken for granted because the other person cares less if you stay or leave..
But when you are with someone you don't really desire but the person desires you, you will feel very uncomfortable at the beginning but there will be this serenity in your life with so much inner assurance that you are truly cherished and you will feel so alive and loved so much that you will inevitably start developing strong affection for the other person. (The beauty and the Beast is not just a fiction very realistic)
As a man, if you marry a lady who truly loves you, she will submit to you, cherish you, treat you like a king and will never see any reason to be with another man. And in like manner, if a woman marries a man who truly desires her,. he will treat her like a queen and cherish her all the days of his life.
YES i understand how twisted this sounds cos whether you choose the one you love that does not love you or you choose the one who loves you but you do not feel same way, the bottom line is that there is still an imbalance in the affection.
But be it as it may, you can never know how special you are until you meet someone who genuinely desires you and sometimes it is best to leave the one you love to be with the one who loves you because with time, you will realize you made the right decision.
So let us have your opinion. I will choose to be with the one who love me than to be with the one that I love who doesn't love me |

Toks2008: She should carry her cross. Focus on her life and take the husband as a booty call.
If she is patient, the husband will realize his foolishness and retrace his steps.
Many of us will not exist if our mums leave their husband cos of another woman.
A man who go cheat go cheat, there is nothing you can do about it. But guess what?
They usually go back to their wives if the wife is patient enough.
The bad news is that there is nothing out there and any woman who leaves her cheating hubby thinking she will get a faithful man out there should consider a career in comedy.
Except you want to leave to remain celibate or give yourself to randy guys as intimacy gadget then there is no point leaving your marriage cos of another lady.
Remember that the other lady actually wants you leave so she can take over so be wise not to give her the last laugh.
Men are not worth fighting for. The best way to deal with us is to ignore us when we start misbehaving.
You can ask him to use condom with you to prevent and sti. you re a good consultant what you said is 100%a true and reality |

DryMouth: No love anywhere... I jst left a 3month relationship this morning.
We were supposed to go out yesterday, my car wasn't available due to some mechanical and maintenance issues so i took it to a repair shop. I told her to come to my house so that we can use public transport to our destination. The motherfucker opened her mouth to tell me she can't enter public transport, so she cancelled our plan. This is an idiot who dnt have/cant even afford to buy ordinary okada. Funny enough i met her in a BRT bus sef.
I jst called her this morning and informed her that I'm no longer interested in the relationship. I can't ignore this kind of redflag the idiot exhibited. She'll definitely leave me for another man if things aren't going well for me financially even if we have married.

Toks2008: Maybe you need to come down from your high horse.
Perhaps if you are calm and respectful, every conversation will end with mutual understanding.
I'm not saying you are at fault but I have observed keenly that many ladies can't keep a man because they are arrogant and disrespectful.
A man does not need your love. What we need is respect but this seems sooo difficult for many ladies in this generation and that is why many of them will remain single for a very long time and even the ones who are married will most likely lose their marriages.
Respecting your man is non negotiable... It doesnt mean you will be a zombie to him but even when you disagree with him, you do it with respect... Even if he cheats on you, express your anger with respect.
No matter what, never ever disrespect your man else you will certainly lose him and in your mind you will think you dissed him whereas he is thanking GOD he is free from you. you are right because as a lady that I am I still seek for respect so not respecting a man is not adviceable at all. |
