If you qualify for the skill migrant category, then it’s an opportunity you should take. Things will come a little bit easier.
Also becoming NZ citizen will be a Golden opportunity for u and those involved. It’s a gate to the globe for y’all. Also as a NZ citizen, u can live indefinitely in Australia if u choose to.

* No room and parlour but you can share a flat with people or rent an a 1/2 bedroom unit from a building. Renting a unit will give u the privacy than sharing a flat. But might be slightly higher in price.
Many thanks for the response and advise.
Will keep u posted then and come for further advise.

Thanks

To earn 5000 NZD after tax means you have to earn at least $37/hr for a 40hrs/week job or $30/hr for a 50hr/week job (rough estimate). Most low and mid skill job worker don’t earn close to this.

I don’t think u can earn that much doing 40hrs a week mate, at the beginning of this thread, I mentioned NZ is not a Cheap country to live in. especially Auckland

There are couples who do not earn more than 4500-5000 a month. That been said, there are individual that still earn over 4500 monthly doing just low skill or mid skill job.
Although Professionals, tradie and business owners could earn more.

I believe your partner will be working ft/pt time too. If not, I will advise u think twice because I don’t think you qualify for any social benefit as non- resident immigrants and living on one income might be stressful before u find ur feet here. Except u have ur own plan.

Single or couple without kids do share flat which makes a huge difference...flat sharing could cost between 150-250 depending on the area, number of people in the house and nature of the flat u sharing.

I stand to be corrected on this .... but it’s my personal opinion.
Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I have a job in Nigeria now and it's not dt bad though but am qualified for the NZ skilled migrant program under d long term skilled shortage program. Therefore, I will be given a PR (as per what I read) but I also read u won't be qualified for some benefits until after 24months. Such benefits whixh u r not qualified for includes support if u do not work.

So Am doing some computations to see if it's worth exploring. I have checked my score and likely to score 165 meaning, I can be selected from d EOI pool. I have assessed my university transcript by NZQA body whixh is valid for 5years...

But sincerely, the only thing I still find interesting yet is the citizenship after 5years and International job experience...Now, I want to be sure if working alone, I can save money, pay my bills and not have a stressful life reason I am asking for some of dz info.

Anyway, is there anything like a room and parlour (Like we call it here)....pending when i finds my feet to get a bigger apartment...what's d idea of the cost...

Thanks for d info so far

Thank u for this info...

I sincerely appreciate.

Am just kinda worried dt if u begin to pay $500 per week without bills whixh is roughly $2000 per month, dt means u must get a job dt is roughly $5000 or $6000 per month ex Tax.

Auckland is the most populated and probably most expensive city here. But u will definitely meet Africans/ Nigerians if that’s your concern. African community is not so large like Indian, Asian or Pacific Islanders community so you won’t necessarily see Africans daily. But u will definitely see them around. Also there are few African churches around here.

There isn’t a lot of difference between 2 and 3 b/room apartment when it comes to pricing. But averagely I would say $350-$450 weekly for 2 bed while 3 bed could be $500 on average. This doesn’t include bills (power, internet, water etc).

Other cities might come cheaper but I recommend you don’t go to the South Island as I don’t have much knowledge of the African community or jobs availability except you don’t mind working on a farm.

I usually advise people to ask their question on this thread as that will create more audience and other experience guys here can also give suggestions and advise.

Secondly it will serve as info for others who might need same info. But if it’s very confidential, then send me a PM
Ok noted.

My questions are not directly related to this thread...Anyway,
1. Please in which state or province of NZ do blacks reside or Nigerians
2. Where do u advise as settlement base for any Nigerian
3. What is the average monthly rent for a 2bedroom apartment in dz area.

Thanks

I got my I-20 last week which included 3 dependents. I used my brother as my sponsor. But the school only offered my $1,200 scholarship saying i need to resume 1st to get G.A however, it can only be against the next fall.

This means i have to foot some un-prepared bills. Based on this, I want to defer the admission to enable me prepare funds against next fall (2018 fall).

Note: I have a family tourist visa (my self and my 3 dependents) which we got this year and have not used.

My Questions:
1. Should i proceed to get the F1/F2 visa now or wait until next year when am ready to go before applying for the F1/F2 visa since i already having a standing visa (b1/b2) which i cant still decide to use anytime.

2. What is the best advise u have for mi generally before i take any decision now.

Thanks
