Electronic devices are things that we use every day and has a huge influence on our daily life. Especially the Internet is becoming more and more important for nearly everybody, probably more important than the devices themselves, and is now our most preferred means of everyday communication. However, to enjoy the uninterrupted services of the internet, you need to have good connectivity. There are two important metrics in bandwidth allocation (measured in Megabits per second or Mbps): download and upload speed, denoting the speed of inbound and outbound data respectively. The average web page loads at 6.3 Mbps universally, a number that denotes how many million bits of data can be moved in a second. While 6.3 mbps is quick enough to send an email or watch a Netflix show, it’s still very slow. Akamai Technologies, a Massachusetts-based internet provider, did a study on how the internet speeds measure up in countries worldwide. The company releases a report every quarter that ranks countries as per their internet speed. According to them, here are the top 10 countries, which are mentioned in descending order of net connectivity. 1. South Korea According to the Akami report, people in South Korea enjoy the fastest internet in the world. The country’s average internet speed measures 29 Mbps, which is 4.6 times as quick as the global average. To put things in perspective, the average HD film is about 5,000 MB. A computer could download that in a little over two and a half minutes at 29 Mbps speed. In spite of more than 80% of South Korean households have access to some of the world’s fastest internet connections, they face usage limitations. Several internet users have to face strong internet censorship in South Korea, according to a report released last year by the nonprofit Freedom House. 2. Norway Norway witnessed the biggest growth (68%) in internet speed at 21.3 Mbps since last year in comparison to any other country in the top 10. At this speed, a computer could upload or download about five high-quality photos per second. Most customers feel comfortable using their debit cards to withdraw money from the Automated Teller Machine. Some have gone the extra steps of using it to pay for goods and services at the Point of Sale machine. However, the plastic can do a lot for customers and totally transform their transaction life if they are careful and versatile with its usage A report by www.rediff.com gives more tips on how the debit card can serve the owner. 1. View account balances With your card, you can visit the ATM, insert the card, and punch in your Personal Identification Number. Select view account balance to know your balance. 2. Get mini statements Mini statements are the shortened version of what your bank sends to you after every three months. That is your bank account statement. The bank can also provide you with a printed passbook detailing all the transactions you have done in a particular month. But if you hate going to your bank because of the long queues and pesky customers surrounding the bank’s teller inquiring about their accounts, your ATM card can be used to give you a mini statement on the go. This statement gives details about the last five to six transactions on your bank account. 3. Transfer money between accounts You have two different accounts with the same bank or different banks, you can transfer the funds to the account of your choice. For instance, if your salary is paid into a particular bank but you prefer to keep your money in another bank, you can always transfer the funds to your preferred account using your ATM. Go to your bank’s ATM, follow the procedure and transfer funds from the first account to the second account. You can use it to pay into another person’s account. 4. Refill your prepaid SIM card Modern-day technology has helped interconnect telecommunications with your bank account. Now you can even refill or recharge your prepaid SIM card at your bank’s ATM. Again you will need to punch in your PIN Read more: http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/technology/seven-things-your-atm-card-can-do/ |

“As we near the one year anniversary of the availability of Windows 10, we’re excited to share that Windows 10 is now running on 300 million active devices around the world” quotes Microsoft’s blog. Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10’s free upgrade offer will expire on July 29, 2016.After that, you’ll have to pay $119 (Over NGN 23,800) to upgrade on any computer that hasn’t already made the upgrade. If you upgraded an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) device to Windows 10 for free, then you can still reinstall Windows 10 on it for the lifetime of the device since that license cannot be legally transferred to any other hardware. If you upgraded a retail version of Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 then after 29 July 2016 you will be unable to fully move that Windows 10 upgrade to a new device using the Windows 7 or 8.1 retail license. Any new system operating with retail version of Windows 7 or 8.1 license that you may want to move over to windows 10 after 29 July 2016 will not be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10; that means you will have to purchase a Windows 10 retail license to get that system updated to the new operating system. You can still purchase an upgrade license for Windows 10, which will cost less than a full version of the OS, and then use it to upgrade your retail Windows 7 or 8.1 system at that point. Three point summary of the whole information is: Read more: http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/technology/why-you-need-to-upgrade-to-windows-10-before-29th-july/ |

Li-Fi or Light Fidelity is a Visible Light Communication system running wireless communications travelling at very high speeds. Li-Fi uses common household LED (light emitting diodes) lightbulbs to enable data transfer, boasting speeds of up to 224 gigabits per second. OPERATION OF LI-FI Li-Fi works by switching the current to the LEDs off and on at a very high rate, too quick to be noticed by the human eye. Li-Fi LEDs would have to be kept on to transmit data, they could be dimmed to below human visibility while still emitting enough light to carry data. The light waves cannot penetrate walls which makes a much shorter range, though more secure from hacking, relative to Wi-Fi.Direct line of sight is not necessary for Li-Fi to transmit a signal, light reflected off the walls can achieve 70 Mbit/s. LI-FI VS WI-FI These are some advantages of Li-Fi over Wi-Fi, which are listed below. Read more: http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/technology/do-you-knw-that-li-fi-is-100times-faster-than-wi-fi/ |
