The federal government on Thursday 22nd December 2016 launched the Abuja phase of the Digital Switch Over (DSO), signalling the commencement of the full roll-out of digital broadcasting across the federal capital city. After several years of unsuccessful move by past administrations to switch over from analogue to digital broadcasting, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has at last edged the country into the league of digital world. Nigeria transited from analogue to digital television viewing on April 30, 2016 in Jos, the Plateau State capital, when it launched the pilot phase of the Federal Government’s digital transmission project that kick started the digitization process in Nigeria. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) had given Nigeria up to June, 2017 as deadline to switch from analogue broadcasting to digital across the country. Speaking at the DSO launch held at Mpape hills, Abuja, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said although the DSO would not take place in one fell swoop across the country, the federal government remains resolute in its commitment to meeting the 2017 deadline for the DSO. “Let me use this opportunity to reiterate the government’s unwavering commitment to meeting the set deadline of June 2017 for the analogue to digital switch over here in Nigeria. The DSO train that took off in Jos has now arrived in Abuja, from where it is set to move to other parts of the country unhindered.” Mr. Mohammed, who described the launch as revolutionary in the Nigerian broadcasting ecosystem, said 30 free channels would be available for Abuja residents upon the switch over while over 450,000 Set-Top Boxes (decoders) have been provided for the commencement. “Our objective is not just to move Nigerians from analogue to digital in a simple technical sense, but to ensure a total overhaul of the whole TV watching experience and the economy around it”, Mohammed said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/business-news/218702-nigeria-launches-digital-broadcasting-abuja-residents-get-30-free-tv-channels.html

life707:This shows that they will soon leave that transponder. |
lincolnola:Hello lincolnola, I think arbourboateng have answered your question, thanks to him for his urgent reply to your question. |
abohwun:Hello abohwun, I just saw your post now. Thanks to arbourboateng who have done Justice to your question. |
arbourboateng:Yea, I saw it that last week. They were showing Botswana and Malawian match on Friday but I didn't pay attention to it until Sunday night when I noticed that the feed belongs to Kwese sports. |
Good Morning all, there is Kwese sports feed on Intelsat 20 Ku. It is receivable with 12654 V 2440 transponder.

Oguguolouis:TLC means Table, Ladder and Chair. So this program is a pro wrestling from WWE in which they use those items mentioned during the fight. |
Keneking:My questions to you is... - Is Obama's administration corrupt as our past government? |

graphicicon:Receivers with stb (set top box) are presently going extinct. Manufacturers of satellite receivers are now using bin (binary which is interpreted as 0 and 1) software to manufacture satellite receiver because they believe that it is better than stb softwares. Bin performes more operations than stb. So you better start trusting the bin softwares but if I may ask, does your DX9800 receiver uses stb software? |
adegheladm:Scammer |
blexxonmak:Yea dude. |
New firmware for SRT4922/20 series is out, check crosat to confirm it... I have no idea if it auto roll or not, thanks. |
brainhack:Your TV can only receive channels that are receivable on DVB-T2 platform... examples are channels on GoTv, Star time terrestrial, Metro Tv etc and channels on VHF/UHF platform. It cannot receive any channel that requires satellite dish without DVB-S/S2 receiver. Edited. My bad, it looks as if I have duplicated the answer that Dishtech gave to you. We were typing at the same time. |

Good morning Chinedu7 and Ben1daEbiri, I didn't made that post to cause misunderstanding between us. Those receivers we talked about are all good and one will always look for the one that suits him/her. I like it when we come here to discus, argue, share informations and we learn a lot from it. I must confess, I do enjoy your writeup you do put up here. |
Chinedu7:Hello Chinedu7, I disagree with what you said about SRT4950H. I didn't quote you to argue with you but to make a little explanation about the two mentioned receivers. I did mentioned about the specifications of the two receivers two years back or so. According to Strong-technologies, SRT4950H has a processor SP1502 (32-bit) clocking with the speed of 667MHz while SRT4922 series has a processor 850DMIP (32-bit) clocking with the speed 550MHz. Compare the two processor and tell me the one that is better between the two. SRT4950H has a DDR3 (memory) ROM with 2GB size while SRT4922 series has a DDR3 with 128MB, now compare the two ROM and tell me the one that is better. When it comes to blind scanning between the two receiver, you will notice that 50H is faster simple because the processor of 50H is faster and has a bigger memory size which will accommodate a lot of apps...it will be difficult to see 50H shouting memory full the way 22 series does. SRT4922 series has only one edge over SRT4950H which is the tunner. 22 series was seen as a better receiver just because of its firmware which was written by WizKids and Sameer009 which was performing well from the onset, you know two heads are better than one. What is firmware? Firmware is a type of software that provides control, monitoring and data manipulation of engineered products and systems. In a lay man's world, a firmware is a software that communicate between the Operating system and the hardware. Back in the days they use to release firmware that cannot even save TV3 Ghana biss key but today 50H is using auto roll on 24HD what a world... |
Deluxe8000:There are countless of channels that airs live match and zoom off after fifteen minutes of the match. So you don't need to think that they stop airing the match simple because someone mentioned it here. |
Deluxe8000:What are you afraid of? |
arbourboateng:This is really strange but I would like you to do as I have said. Tune to Mtn info channel and make sure that the channel is showing then change the channel to 24hd. Try and press menu button on your rcu and exit immediately. Then wait like three minutes or thereabout and you will see the channel showing and if it does not show the encrypted channels on that Mtn transponder then you should check your receiver to know if it is actually SRT4950H. |
arbourboateng:After your receiver have booted and you have tuned to channel 24, then wait for two to three minutes and you will surely see it working. Happy viewing. |
