luks like u ve made up ur mind already...with "100lvl courses suck die" u jst mentioned in d finally part..however,my opinion wud be for you to choose unilorin...since u b in 200lvl in unilorin...besides,NO STRIKES....Try and also update dis particular post of urs on UNILAG ADM THREAD...den compare d opinions and views u get on both thread...before u make ur final decision tho....its all abt getting the B.sc in maths dat actually matas, either in isolation or otherwise...#my opinion tho
Thanks,
i would just that now.
It's not all about B.Sc Maths alone......minoring in other courses gives an added advantage if i intend to proceed to purse a Postgraduate degree.
Thanks anyway.
I really appreciate.

Ah ah ahhhhhhhhhhh, you you youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, but you didn't tell anything about your UNILORIN admission process.

Tutoring right now will reply as soon as possible.

Stay cool!
People like you make a good instructor, keep the good deed up,
it was a decision i made so lately, wanted OAU from the onset, though my ND grade is good enough to get me in, but the popular mindset '' you need to know someone'' since they don't conduct any entrance exercise, scared hell out of me.
That was one of the reasons why i finally choosed UNILORIN, though my PUTME/PUDE was not a Jaw Opening one........i wasn't even expecting anything from them, not until yesterday when i saw their message.

My dear sister, I want you to see my piece of advice as just an input. You and I know for sure that decision making process involves series of stages--The data gathering, analyzing and evaluating of data and then taking decision etc.

In my own view, it's of two perspectives. The first is why you must accept UNILAG & the second is why you must accept UNILORIN offer.

Why you must accept UNILAG admission:

I will like to analyze this using the concept of hierarchy of needs in management. The concept explains how people move from getting their basic needs (food, shelter etc) to getting security and when the money keeps coming, they want to socialize, later they realize that they need self respect (they begin to take exception to indolence) etc---Note that they're not happy until they get what they aspire for or should I say fulfilled.

The above concept explains why a 50-year old man applies for LAW/MBBS admission... It also explains why a PHD holder applies for LAW/MBBS (I'm using the two cos I don't want to book much space on Nairaland cheesy ).

So if you really want Mathematics with options in Economics, it is better for you to accept UNILAG offer before it gets to late (closes).

Why you must accept UNILORIN Offer of Admission:

If you don't fall into the category of the above points on hierarchy of needs. I.E You don't have a penchant for Mathematics with Options in Economics, then you must accept UNILORIN admission.

Why? The two institutions are highly reputable. However, the advantage of getting a 200lv admission into UNILORIN is obvious.

Good luck!
hmmmm
just as i pick up my mobile phone to log in to Nairaland, i knew already that am going to drink from the well of your knowledge.
I really appreciate this.
Very explanatory enough.
Would let you guys know my final decision.

Dear all,

I need your advise,
I applied to University of Ilorin through direct entry with a view to studying Mathematics and interestingly I was admitted yesterday.
Though I wrote JAMB, and I have been
admitted to UNILAG to study Maths as well,
UNILAG Maths gives me option in minoring in other courses, I want Economics. But that Of UNILORIN is only in isolation.
having paid my fee and on the verge of completing my registration.
Should I forgo UNILAG admission and go ahead with my UNILORIN admission, seriously 100lvl courses suck die.
Rkanrang et al, I need your view on this.
Thanks.

Education / Re: Which Will You Choose A Scholarship To Harvard Or To Be Dangote's P.A by Dlordisgreat1(f): 11:36am On Aug 16, 2014
Getting a scholarship to study at Harvard University itself is an achievement on its own, let alone studying there and bagging a degree,
OP, as an undergraduate, if i am in my final semester, am gonna bone it and leave for Harvard kia kia.
Did you know the number of recruiters that come to there campus to recruit fresh graduates?
On the other hand, being a PA to Dangote, Money would come and go.
Open your eyes........
The Nigga mentality is that......'wetin i wan go school for? No be because of money?'
I think it's hightime we started working on being not on having.
Believe me, with an Harvard University degree, Life becomes easier!

2B1ASK1: Congratulations to all those who made the merit score and all those who will succeed via change of course. I am a future aspirant into Unilag by God's grace. I am currently in SS3 and I would like you guys to please give me an insight into your post UME questions, as in, how many questions in all. How many english , maths and general paper. And the english , is there any comprehension passage etc, and the maths, is it calculus , further maths or what?.
Please successful Akokites, am sorry if i may be drawing you backwards, am just preparing for the next admission in 2015/16.
God bless you as you respond and give me insight.
Thank you kindly.
I don't believe you should be bothering yourself about UNILAG postUTME at the moment, your focus now ought to be how you are going to put UTME into its knee, nevertheless, they say ''no Knowledge is wasted''.

Go and re-read your SSCE notes and texts, and re-solve the pastquestions as well.
Go ahead and solve JAMB pastquestions too, get JAMB recommended textbooks.
Those textbooks would not only help you in JAMB but would also help you in POSTUTME.
Note of caution: Never prepare for JAMB without a brochure.
Wishing you the very best.
Keep focus.

How are you doing, ma'am? Candidly speaking, EINSTEINPG is amazing! I asked the question in order to be sure of my perception.

I'm doing very great my deary bro, Even though UNILAG has refused to release his cut-off point,
hmmmm.... So by now you should have been wholly sure of that your perception.

I thought you choosed FUNAAB?
Education / Re: University Of Ilorin 2014/2015 Admission Thread (undergraduates) by Dlordisgreat1(f): 8:54pm On Aug 05, 2014
EINSTEINPG: The only thing growing faster than the sticker price on a college education may be the debate around the value of one- particular if a student majors in something with no obvious pathway to a decent job.
In January, President Barack Obama inadvertently caused a bit of an uproar when he questioned the value of a degree in art history while he was talking about better aligning job-training programmes with empolyer's needs. Mr Obama later sent a handwritten apology note to a unversity of Texas art historian who took offense at the remark.
Apologies aside, the question of what a student should major in and what sort of return on investment it can generate is becoming an increasingly important question, as families struggle to pay for school fee.
As the economic value of education increases, we will need to remember that education, especially higher education, is about more than Naira and Kobo. It should do more than provide foot soldiers for the Nigerian economy. Educators in both secondary and postsecondary institutions have cultural and political missions to ensure that there is an educated citizenry that can continue to defend and promote our democratic ideals.
Incentivizing routes to specific fields is very challenging indeed-especially given the volatility in the economy. Hot fields come and go, but careers are life choices, not stock picks. We certainly need more scientists, engineers and mathematicians, but we also need college graduates who are willing to work in important fields (like education or social work) that don't pay as well, but also may be highly rewarding.
It takes much more than a major to get a great education. Rather, students should look for a college or university that has organized its educational programmes, curriculum and co-curriculum-to help students build big-picture knowledge of the world around them; develop high-level skills they will need for careers, civil society and their own lives; acquire real-world practice and experience; and above all, to find their own sense of purpose and vocation in the largest sense of that term.
AMEN....and to your dispassionate question, WHY MATHEMATICS? Have you heard of STEM programme? Besides, I am such an ambitious fellow with revolutionary ideas. Opting for mathematics as first degree will serve as the springboard on which an impeccable foundation will be secured as regard the achievement of the ultimate goals I have set for myself. Of course, the economic reality of the nation is well taken into consideration that there is hardly a high paying job for mathematics majors besides teaching. But I realized that virtually everything in Nigeria is under utilized. Honestly, I am not going to the university to be trained to become a sought-after fellow by employers by amassing good grades, but rather, to acquire real education via a properly trained mind. For real education transcends good grades and when the chips are down only properly trained mind can come to one's rescue. Although good grades should be seen as necessary steps to get promoted to the next academic level. So don't misinterpret my views of good grade backlash.
In today's information-overloaded world, the modern citizen is routinely confronted by a maze of numbers and data of various forms. To be able to make sense of out of this, an increased knowledge of mathematics is at the heart of many of today's advancements in science and technology and are contributing to progress in other fields such as industrial and architectural design, economics, biology, linguistics, and psychology. Study mathematics can provide one with a competitive advantage in many fields. An undergraduate degree in mathematics can also give one a firm foundation for further study in a variety of other disciplines. @rkarang. Please do forgive what some Nairalanders would label lengthy rants and be objective in your critical assessment of my rationale for vying for mathematics.
Frankly, it saddens me seeing Nigeria graduates and Students referring Mathematics Students/Graduates as Mathematics teachers to be.
Job well done either dude or babe.
I cherish your analytical writing skill, only few Mathematics students/aspirants can boast of that.
I am also looking forward to studying the aforesaid subject but in another institution.
I wish you all the best.
Rjkang, i sight you.
Best regards.
