The first earth station in Africa was set up in Kano in 1961 by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States. In the mid-1960s, NASA used a network of communication bases around the world to track spacecraft during various missions of the Gemini program. One of these stations was located in Kano, Nigeria. Most likely a case of Retals owners having good intentions to make player a star, but when player got injured they were overwhelmed with cost of treatment (considering running cost of other fit players) and their hands were forced to abandon player.

In the local league today, Enugu Rangers did the CR7 Suiii celebration (see below) 4 times as they spanked Kano Pillars 4-1.

Pillars took the lead first before Rangers led by Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu went on rampage.
