The descendants of Aros are in every Igbo state. There are indigenous Aros in Rivers (Aro Ikwerre), Imo, Abia, Enugu, Delta, Anambra. In the olden days Aros where paid mercenary fighters who were contracted to fight during clashes between communities.

The Otolo people of Nnewi paid Aros to fight against surrounding neighbours like Awka Etiti, Nnobi, Nnewichi. Some of these Aros later settled within these communuties they fought for till today.
