Details
Enugu State University of Science and Technology ESUT Post Utme 2014
screening details is out. All candidates who chose Enugu State University of
Science and Technology in the 2014 UTME and scored 180 or above, and all those
who did not choose ESUT but now wish to apply, are invited to ESUT post utme
screening exercise. Also, candidates interested in law can now apply.
Candidates awaiting the results of NABTEB, WAEC (May/June) and NECO
(June/July) 2014 are eligible to apply. Note however , that results released after
October 31, 2014 shall not be accepted.
PROCEDURE FOR ON-LINE REGISTRATION:
Eligible candidates are to access and complete the screening forms and other
information about the screeningon-line at www.esutportal.net by obtaining
scratchcards from any of the following banks in Enugu on payment of N2,000.00
(two thousand naira) processing fee.
1. Access Bank PLC: Enugu, ESUT and Nsukka branches.
2. Zenith Bank PLC: Trans Ekulu and ESUT branches.
3. First Bank PLC: (Main)Okpara Avenue, Presidential Road and Agbani road
branches.
4. Skye Bank PLC: Ogui road and Enugu North council branches.
5. Fidelity Bank PLC: ESUT and All Branches inEnugu.
6. UBA PLC: Enugu (All Branches).
Candidates are advised that inconsistency in name is not acceptable to the
university and may lead to disqualification. Candidates names on their O’level
certificates and UTME results and other registration documents must be the
same.
Completed screening forms must be returned online, with the scanned copies of
each of the following documents:
a) UTME result slip.
b) Entry qualification certificate(s).
c) Current passport size photograph (for fresh candidates only).
Candidates must certify that the information given by him/her in each of the
sections of the screening form is to the best of his/her knowledge accurate. Should
any be found false, he/she shall consider self-disqualified.

I think the squabble is between public health as relates to doctors and other health professionals.

Anybody can do a post graduate degree in public health. MPH or whatever. My mom has a PhD in public health. She was originally trained as a nurse.

But not everybody can have a specialist qualification in public health. The Fellows of the Royal College of Public Health, West African College of Community Health and National College of Community Health who specialize in public health are all specialist public health practitioners. And you need a primary medical degree (MD, BDS, or MBBS)to proceed on that quest.

Admission at MOUAU is based on a competitive
quota system. What does that mean? This simply
means that during the admission process, each
dept/course is allocated a certain number of
student slots within the total admission quota for the entire University and these slots are
competitively allocated. So assuming the University
has about 2,000 slots approved by NUC for a
particular session, this number is divided between
the depts/courses. Soil Science, Botany, Agronomy
may be given less than 50 slots each, while the more competitive Agribusiness, Microbiology, Comp
Eng, Comp Science, may be given about 150 slots
each. And other depts/courses in order of size and
competitiveness. During the selection process, all
the students who applied for each of these courses
are listed according to the scores they have, in descending order. Then selection is made based on
the quota allocated for that dept/course for that
year. Therefore if after sorting the names a
candidates name falls as the 88th person in order
of score for a particular prog that was allocated 50
slots, obviously such a candidate will not be admitted.
Typically, applications received for the progs
mentioned earlier ranges around these figures
during Post UTME, Soil Science - less than 20, Botany
- about 100, Agronomy - less than 10, while
Agribusiness - abt 1,300, Microbiology - almost 1,000, Comp Eng - abt 900, Comp Science - over
1,000, etc. These are typical figures. Let me add Civil
Engr - abt 300-400. With the explanation above
and the figures shown here, you will discover that a
candidate who was denied admission in Comp Eng,
will find another candidate with the same scores, being offered admission to read Civil Engr. This is
because the competition is less heated there.
Equally a candidate who was denied admission to
read Biochemistry, will find out that the scores of
several of those admitted to read Botany/Zoology
are much lower than his/hers. And when this happens such a candidate will start complaining
and claiming that he/she was denied admission as
a result of corruption and bribery, obviously not
understanding the way the system works.
I can categorically tell you that the merit admissions
at MOUAU are processed 100% on merit. After the merit admissions, then comes the supplementary
admissions. But many of our prospective students
do not know that supplementary admissions is not
automatic. You need to indicate interest and apply
for it. If you don't apply for the supplementary
admissions at the right time, the result is that a candidate who scored lower than you, but who
indicated interested and applied through the
proper channels will be admitted and you still find
yourself without admission and probably
complaining.
This has been a long post, I just hope there are few mistakes and that it is easy to understand,
otherwise feel free to ask further questions. Lets all

emekakelvin: Their mbbs fee for fresher was close to #200000 to #250000. Due to the aluta stuff, 60% of the fee was reduced. If you do the calculation, you will see that 60% reduction of the then #250000 will be brought to 100K.

lomaxx: Good morning. Your question is multi-modal in dimension. I'll try as much as possible to narrow it down.

It's okay for someone who did art subjects in secondary school to develop interest totally in another field after secondary school. Interest is the beginning of a successful career pursuit in a desired field. So if the interest has been developed, it is a good start.

Furthermore, any individual who chooses to develop career interest in a field different from what he was previously trained in secondary school, should be ready to brace up with challenges in that field. That's where being realistic comes in. Being realistic entails that you not just have the interest, you also have what it takes to successfully land your ambition - else you'll be seeking a futile adventure with concurrent waste of time.

In the light of this, if an arts student wants to do medicine or any medical-related course, he/she should understand the commitments involved and work hard towards achieving it. It is indeed very possible. What will make it okay or not , will be how it would turn out.
