Ok thanks doc. Why arent you trying Canada, US, etc.
If you want to actually practice medicine and not flipping burgers, driving taxi or working as security guard, stay away from Canada. The chances of getting a post after passing all their numerous & expensive exams is very slim. Canada is very selective when it comes to country/school where you obtained your primary medical qualification. Even many of the doctors who finished in the U.K have problems penetrating the Canadian health system after passing their exams. Its not impossible though!

The U.S, I think, is the best. You get a residency slot right from your first doctor job after the USMLEs and not locums and non-training jobs like the U.K. The exams aint cheap though and the process is not as easy and straightforward as the U.K. You may also encounter difficulties when it comes to immigration cos after passing the USMLEs and you don't have the appropriate visa/legal status to remain in the US, it may be difficult getting an employer who will be willing to sponsor you right from your country because. They have many people already in the U.S waiting to be matched. I know some guys who wrote USMLE steps 1 & 2CK, secured admission for masters in the U.S, complete the remaining steps & luckily got a slot before finishing their masters.

For the U.K after the PLABs, the sweet thing is when you get a job and don't have legal status in the U.K, your employer gives you a certificate of sponsorship which facilitates your emigration.

Family / Re: My Dad Wishes Me Death, Please Help by doctor90210: 2:24pm On Nov 24, 2015
Hey, I can relate well with your story bro. My reply is long, but I want you to get what it means to have an abusive father.

Unlike you, I was an only son, always top of my class. Infact my father didn't really have any expectations from me, neither did he get impressed/acknowledge by my achievements. But of course, bad behaviors don't go unpunished. I can't recall ever getting a gift for being top of my class (Especially in secondary school). My classmates who come 2nd/3rd come to school boasting about the gifts they got for their position.

My father was so strict that I don't dare talk in his presence talkless of opposing him, EVEN AFTER I BECAME A DOCTOR. I get beaten over trivial things too (Like crying for a bigger meat) and sometimes end up in the hospital and missing school cos of injuries he has inflicted on me. My childhood was filled with physical and emotional abuse. I used to have red eyes, when he is talking to me and i mistakenly look at him, a hot slap will automatically land on my face & then he'll say I've been smoking weed (I don't go out, not rebellious, I didnt have friends I'd never seen weed in my life), only for me to find out when I started working and went to see an ophthalmologist that I had an eye condition which could've been treated better if diagnosed early.

The day i wrote jamb, he didn't even give me t.fare, said he didn't have money, only to come back to meet chicken soup (Mom said he brought out money after I left). I remember my Uni days-the worst period of my life, I survived by being parasites to people. I was still getting flogged as an undergraduate. People used to tell me he loved me and only trying to discipline me & when I grow up, he'll change. He loved my sisters more than me and never hid it.

While in secondary school, he had severally forced me to put scarification marks on my face and body (cos a neighbor/stranger gave it to him). Note, he is a university graduate & claims to be a pastor on the outside. I refused and he called me a bastard (He does that a lot when he is angry). Of course I have those marks till now.

When I started working, I didn't take revenge. He couldn't keep a job so I had to take over the financial running of the house. I thought we could get closer at that point but it got worse. He started using my money to chase women & started having issues with mum. Once I send any bulk money, he'll take off and leave the house till after a month and wont use the money for what its meant for. Even at this period , I couldnt really talk to him about anything. He only asks for money and I send, pay my sister's school fees and all. Whenever I tried to talk him about their issues after neighbors got tired of settling fights (calmy of course), he always called me a bastard again and then rain curses.

I reduced the money I was sending him, but kept taking care of other things. He later threatened to sell our ONLY house and move on with his life which he did (for a ridiculous amount) despite my efforts to dissuade him. He then took off and no one knew where he was. We had a big fight, he later apologized when he finished spending the money and his new woman left him. I let it go and we started talking again.

When I started a serious relationship, I introduced my fiance to him. He didn't come for our intro though (gave excuses). The wedding came, he started another issue. Said I didn't come to check on him since he sold the house, so we shouldn't expect him at the wedding ( I work in the north, been here since grad). HE DIDN'T COME FOR MY WEDDING, even though it took place in Lagos where he resides. He even warned people/his family not to come & cursed whoever shows up there. I knew this because I travelled to ibadan to invite some elderly family members and one of them called him to congratulate him in my presence and placed the phone on speaker, what he said said was shocking!! He called my wife too b4 the wedding and threatened her not to marry me. The wedding was successful, thank God. When we had our first child, he came begging again as usual, called my wife and was seriously apologising saying it was the devil who took over him.

I COULD HAVE DEVELOPED SOME PSYCHIATRIC PROBLEMS ALONG THE WAY/BECOME REBELLIOUS AND A NUISANCE BUT THANK GOD I OVERCAME THE SITUATION BECOMING A STRONGER MAN.

I only gave him one reply : I HAVE NO MORE PLACE IN MY LIFE FOR YOU!

An abusive father will always be abusive. They'll take out their frustration on their children, some can even kill (this is happening these days). When you start making it and giving them money, some can then pretend to love you, while others can't pretend for long like in my case.

Bro, try to be a good kid. Do what your father wants while you're under him but if the torment continues, let that be your addition motivation to succeed in life. Endure till you can be independent, then decide how you want to relate with him from then on.

Nigerian pastors be like "If you don't pay tithe, things will be tight for you"

After paying the tithe, they still want you to sow a big seed every Sunday.

One guy told me during the course of a church service their pastor walked up to his father and asked him to sow his car key and see what God would do in his life. His father just bought this SUV & them don dey fear say make the man no give the thing. Their mother face don change colour!!! Na so their father submit the car key o, Na him pastor start serious prayer.
As the prayer almost end na their popsy first comot for the church, him carry bike go house go carry the spare key.

Na so all of em quickly jump inside motor zoom go house o. See as him mamma dey happy say "daddy no f**k up!

Talking bout corporate extortion, na why naija pastors dey hammer big time.

BE WISE!!!

But how does someone get the work permit / green card?
After passing PRES 1-3, you start applying for jobs online or through an agency. There are lots of jobs by the way (Senior House Officers post a.k.a non-Consultant Hospital Doctors). Interviews may be via Skype for some jobs, while for others, you may have to go there. When you get a job, your employer sends you a letter stating your employment type, duration of contract and income which you take to Irish embassy in Abuja to apply for your greencard.

Sometimes, the employer applies on your behalf.

What did you discover doctor?
Please help a colleague.
I discovered my score is enough to write the PRES (The qualifying medical exams in Ireland). Ireland is also O.K for doctors that want to leave in that, they have more doctor shortage than the U.K, you can do more overtime work, meaning more pay, than the U.K & you can even become a citizen in just 3 years If you travel there with their green card as opposed to just ordinary Irish work permit.

Note: Irish greencard is like a work permit they give to foreigners who are going there to start a job that pays @ least €60k or Jobs on the the Highly Skilled Eligible Occupation list e.g Medical docs, Dentists, Nurses.

With the Green card, you can become a citizen in three years, but if you're going in with work permit, it'll take 5 years upwards.

seriously sokoto is far for me oo...
From Lagos, its just 2hours by air and less than an hour from abuja, but be ready to cough out 25k or 15 to 20k respectively if you book early. Sokoto is really peaceful & you can even argue religion (in the city maybe, I dont know what happens in the surburbs) cos their muslims are more tolerant than say Ilorin muslims( I schooled in Ilorin so I know what I'm saying), but why argue religion

At certain times of the year, the weather could be so unbearable (Mainly the dry dusty period, the extremely hot season, and the nerve freezing harmattan), but there are ways to cope with that. For now, we are enjoying a relatively normal weather, though there's no rain.

I welcome you all to the ciy of the caliphate and I wish you a memorable stay.

From what I've read, It is extremely difficult for an Irish trained Nigerian medical graduand to get internship in Ireland not to mention Nigerian trained doctor.

Eyah, Very Nice result though. Dont give bro, im sure u can still make use of this result for something else. U cant back out now that uv gotten this far. Remember the saying that " Many of life's failure is as a result of people who gave up witout realizing how close they were to success". so i wana encourage u to fight on.
Thanks Giov. Infact after doing extensive research in the last two days, I have discovered that my IELTS result is more than perfect for another purpose similar to what I initially intended to use it for, Just a different country. I just have to redirect my plans. I've been having serious doubts about U.K anyways. I think I'm gonna be fine.
