A man has accidentally set himself on fire after pouring petrol on an effigy during a protest in broad daylight.
Sukhminder Singh Mann, an Indian protester accidentally set himself on fire after pouring petrol a government effigy at a rally about teachers’ contracts, Daily Mail UK reports.

The man – Sukhminder Singh Mann – was immediately rushed to hospital, but his condition is unknown.

He had been taking part in demonstrations in Bathinda, which included burning a dummy depicting the Punjab government amid unrest over the structure of education.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Headies awards, Nigerian music sensation, Tekno, has been disqualified from the highly coveted “Next Rated” category.

The award, billed to take place on December 22, was embraced with criticisms from top notch musicians in the industry.

Tekno had lambasted the organisers for including him in the “Next Rated” category.

In an Instagram post made about a month ago, he said “Next rated after how many years! Let’s be honest pls”.

Revered video producer, Clarence Peters, had also criticised the awards.

At about 2am on Saturday, 13th of Nov. 2016, Oritsefemi came into Quilox without prior reservations or table bookings. Tables are allocated to customers who have made prior paid table bookings in advance of their arrival except such customer is a patron or member of the club. . . However, Oritsefemi who did not fall into any of the categories above approached a patron’s table-of-six, and pleaded to be accommodated, with the understanding that other guests of the said patron were still been expected. . .

In a surprising turn of events, Oristsemi who was drinking from the patrons bottle, attempted to sit 8 of his guests at the table, the surprised patron strongly rejected such effrontery and invited the bouncer guarding the floor to intervene. . . The bouncer politely approached Oritsefemi and told him the patrons guests were still being expected, but Oristefemi, in a fit of unprovoked rage, slapped the bouncer then proceeded to breaking a glass in his hand and stabing him in the eye. . . The scene quickly became rowdy as other customers rushed to the table and confronted the artiste for his violent behavior, our security team quickly stepped in to salvage the situation by carrying Oristefemi out of the club. . . Oristefemi faced by an enraged crowd outside and perhaps realizing the gravity of his offense pretended to collapse. The artiste and the bouncer were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital . . The bouncer affected later pressed charges at Bar Beach police station, where Oritsefemi accepted his offense and pleaded for mercy, he was granted bail at 12pm on the 13th of Nov. and advised to report back to the station on Tues. 15th of Nov. 2016. . . We were hesitant to release a press statement as several well meaning people have attempted to intercede on behalf of the artiste, but after his malicious and grossly false account of the events that occured, it is only fair that we defend the integrity and ethos of our organization.

Set To Hold Concert In Lagos
No doubt the year 2016 has unarguably been an MVP year for Caro and Ojuelegba crooner, as the Baba nla singer, Wizkid, as he penetrated the international music scene with his music, headlining international shows, winning artiste of the year in major music awards this year including MTV Africa Music Awards, All Africa Music Awards; Best African and Worldwide Act at the MTV Europe Awards among others.
But in what appears to be a twist, the Starboy Record head-honcho, have been stripped of his award as MTV Africa Music Awards Best African Act by the organisers of the award four days after he was conferred with it.
Weekend Beat gathered that following a public outcry, the organisers have officially given the award to Tanzanian music star, Alikiba, who was said to have won the award after the issue was subjected to public vote.
According to investigations, Alikiba was leading and had won the award, but MTVBase Africa declared Wizkid as winner through their social media handle.
Speaking to The Citizen, a Tanzanian base media outfit, Alikiba’s manager, Christine Mosha, said after the announcement on Saturday in Rotterdam, she constantly contacted MTV Africa for explanation.
She said, “I wrote to them immediately questioning questioning why the award had gone to someone else, yet the website indicated that it was Alikiba, who had won the category through the public vote. Alikiba had won the MTV Europe Music Best African Act category, whereas Wizkid had won the MTV Europe Music Best Worldwide Act.”
Alikiba in a reaction took to his Facebook page and wrote: “I’ve just got confirmation that the award is coming back to Tanzania, but I can’t talk much about it. We are still waiting for the official statement and when I will receive it.”
The mix-up became a subject of online discussion and backlash as the singer and his fans demanded an explanation as to what happened.
While it took the administration some time to state what transpired, MTV Europe Music Award admitted that both artistes had won, but in different categories. Organisers of the MTV EMAs have cleared the confusion on the ‘Best African Act’ award.

APC accuses Wike of interfering with police investigation into fake result sheets
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers, on Thursday accused Gov. Nyesom Wike of interfering with police investigation of those arrested allegedly printing fake INEC result sheets.
This is contained in a statement issued by the party’s Chairman in the state, Chief Davies Ikanya, in Port Harcourt.
The News Agency of Nigeria [NAN] recalls that the police had on Saturday arrested some individuals allegedly involved in printing the fake result sheets, few days after the national electoral commission fixed Dec. 10 for legislative re-run elections in the state.
Gov. Wike was reported to have accused the police of plotting to cover-up the matter by transferring the case to its Zone 6 headquarters in Calabar, Cross Rivers, for investigation.

The annual prestigious Nigerian Music Awards the Headies ‘Next Rated‘ category not fit for Mayorkun, Tekno and Falz.
The Headies Awards 2015 edition was outright born out of controversies. First, it had to be the rescheduling of the event which rightly ought to be held in 2015, to January 1st 2016. Then the infamous tantrum by YBNL leader Olamide when his protege Lil Kesh failed to pick up the coveted ‘Next Rated’ award. A full blown drama ensued when Don Jazzy – who felt slighted by Olamide’s remarks – sensed the need to address sentiments.
The headies fiasco set the turn for the music industry for in 2016. Davido who supposedly was in favour of Lil Kesh grabbing the award made a bold statement which had gone around the media. He threatened to “pull a Kanye” (or Olamide) if his new artiste does not pick up same award.
Fast forward to the present, Davido’s new signee Mayorkun does not deserve the Headies ‘Next Rated’ award. That is just exactly the same way I feel TripleMG Tekno, or even sensational rapper Falz are misfit for the spot.
Don’t shoot me until you’ve read my opinion.
What exactly am I trying to say? Davido earlier this year signed Mayorkun, Dremo to his newly established music imprint DMW. Mayorkun is undersized for the status of Headies ‘Next Rated’. He has in honesty had only one single to his name. Prior to signing with DMW Mayorkun was not on the Nigerian music radar. His run this year is one befitting the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award. Next year might see him clinch the coveted ‘Next Rated’ if he puts up a better performance than what he has done so far this year.
In the case of the golden boy Tekno and Falz both are oversized for the award. I would really consider it that Tekno and Falz are too big for the Headies ‘Next Rated’ award

Soon we’d be separating men from the boys in music. And the signs of the next big things in music abound. Made Men Music Group (MMMG) record label singer, Tekno Miles, is set to sign a global record deal with Sony Music, days after Iyanya left the group for Don Jazzy’s Marvin.

And indications are rife that the deal is worth more than what Davido signed with the American label which also recently signed, Wizkid, Ycee and Shizzi. The move according to reports will see the young singer becoming one of the most sought-after artistes on the globe with impressive volume of collaborations with international artistes.

Ubi Franklin and Paul O., CEO, One Africa Music Fest, hinted about the news on their Instagram pages, with a confirmation that Tekno, has finalised the move to sign the mouth-watering deal.

The songster, who signed his first record deal with K-Money some years ago, got signed to Iyanya’s MMG record label in 2013 but, has now become the beautiful bride of the label after friends and co-owners of the label, Ubi Franklin and Iyanya, had a misunderstanding and have to go their separate ways.

Suspend ministers accused of corruption, PDP tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to emulate the judiciary by asking ministers accused of corruption to step aside for proper investigation.
The party made the call in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, on Friday in Abuja.
Adeyeye recalled that the National Judicial Council (NJC) had on Thursday announced its decision to suspend justices facing corruption charges
The justices are Sylvester Ngwuta and Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court, Mohammed Tsamiya, Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin Division and Kabiru Auta of Kano State High Court.
Others are Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja; Justice I. A. Umezulike, former Chief Judge of Enugu state and Muazu Pindiga of Federal High Court, Gombe.
Adeyeye pointed out that Justices Ngwuta and Okoro had alleged that they were the targets of a witch-hunt because they refused offers of inducement and bribes from two ministers.
They had named them as Minister of Transport, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and his Science and Technology counterpart, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu.
He said that the ministers allegedly tried to offer bribe to the judges to subvert the course of justice in appeals against the decisions of lower courts in election petitions in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti and Rivers.

The trial of four men arraigned before the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere by the state government for the kidnap of the traditional ruler of Iba Town, Oba Goriola Oseni was yesterday stalled due to the dispute between two lawyers over legal representation of one of the defendants, Yerin Fresh.
The trial, which should have commenced on Friday, could not proceed as two lawyers, Chief Selowei Baidi and Anthony Onwueze both announced appearance for Fresh and attempts by the trial judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo to resolve the disagreement failed.
Fresh was arraigned on October 24, alongside Duba Furejo, Ododowo Isaiah and Reuben Anthony on an eight-count charge of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, robbery, armed robbery, felony and kidnapping.
At the last sitting of the court, Fresh was represented by Chief Baidi, who is also the counsel to the first and second defendants, while John Egwuaroje represented the third defendant.
After arraignment, the court had remanded the defendants in Prison custody, following their not guilty plea.
When the case was called on Friday, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DDP), Mrs Idowu Alakija, announced her appearance for the state, while Baidi and Egwuaroje maintained appearances for the defendants.
However, mild drama occurred when Onwueze, also announced appearance for the fourth defendant, Fresh.
Responding to a query from Justice Taiwo, Onwueze explained that he had been commissioned to represent the fourth defendant.

A Must Read!!! 16 Things Niger Delta Leaders Want From Buhari
As part of efforts to stop the lingering crisis in the Niger Dekta region, President Muhammadu Buhari met leaders and traditional rulers from the region on Tuesday, November 1.
The meeting was held to discuss the issue of militancy and security in the region which has led to a sharp decline in oil production and affected Nigeria’s earnings.
Below are the 16 demands the Niger Delta people want for peace to be restored in the oil-rich region.
1. Inclusive participation in oil industry and ownership of oil blocs
The people are demanding that the federal government include the region in the sharing and ownership of the oil blocs in the country. They want policies and actions that will address the lack of participation, as well as the imbalance in the ownership of oil and gas assets to be affirmed.
2 The presidential amnesty programme
The oil-rich region is asking for a review of the programme to reappraise its core mandate to provide a robust exit strategy. The people want the government to make provisions for jobs for the ex-militants after the programme. This will effectively integrate them and wean them off dependency on stipends so that their new-found skills would be of benefit to themselves and the larger community.
3. Law and Justice
The Niger Delta people want the federal government to address a number of pending law and justice issues regarding some aggrieved groups and individuals. by the people of the Niger Delta, under the aegis of Pan-Niger Delta Forum.
4. Relocation of the administrative and operational headquarters of the IOCs
They want the headquarters of major International Oil Companies (IOCs) to be moved to the Niger Delta region as most are located outside the region. According to them, this deprives the people of all the developmental and associated benefits that would have accrued to the region from their presence. Moving the headquarters to the Niger Delta region would create a mutually beneficial relationship with the host communities.
5. The effect of increased military presence in the Niger Delta
The people are asking the government to halt the escalation of tension in the region which is caused by the increase in military presence. They listed the effects of the increased military presence in the region to include invasion of communities, displacement of persons, harassment and other forms of human rights abuses.
