The Presidency has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will be the last person to authorise anybody to induce a judge to pervert the course of justice.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said this in a statement yesterday.

Shehu, therefore, advised journalists and other Nigerians to stop linking President Buhari to the "legal travails of some recently arrested Judges in the country."

He said despite Buhari's personal familiarity with some judges, he (the president) had never used that familiarity to seek favours from them from 2003, 2007 and 2011 when he was challenging the fairness of the presidential election results from the lowest to the highest courts in the land during the periods in question.

Shehu also stated that as a politician, the president had never suggested to his lawyers to approach any judge for assistance to win his cases.

According to the presidential aide, Buhari lives by this principle and has never deviated from it.

On the fate of the judges facing corruption allegations, Shehu said the president does not tell courts how to do their jobs and that anybody accused of corruption is protected by law to defend

Mr Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing.
The completion of the Gurara Hydro Power Plant in Kaduna State would generate additional 30 megawatts, the Minster of Power, Works and Housing , Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said.
Fashola spoke on Friday in Kaduna when he visited the Gurara Dam project to assess the level of work.
The project is an earth-fill-rock dam, a multipurpose project, consisting a dam, water transfer tunnel, a power house, a power transmission line, an irrigation scheme, a spillway, a bottom outlet access roads and associated works.

Fashola said the current administration was determined to increase the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the country using various energy mix.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, said corruption in the oil and gas industry was overblown.
Kachikwu said this in Abuja on Thursday at a news briefing shortly after the launch of the new roadmap tagged “The 7 Big Wins”.
“I think sometimes the corruption indices in Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) are overblown, because sometimes people do not understand the technicalities of what is going on and the short answer is corruption.
“I do agree that there were all kinds of sleaze stories in the past, but if you look at the last one year and in the last 13 months, those have dramatically disappeared.
“The TSA definitely helped, being able to suck in all our funds in one pond, being able to look at long term focus.

President Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja said that Nigeria will emerge better and stronger from its current socio-economic situation.
Buhari stated this in a message to the 7th National Prayer Breakfast.
The President, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal, said leaders in the country must strive to be a light to the people they lead.

“As leaders, we must strive to be the light of the world, we must resist talking about our current socio-economic situation with despondency.
“As for me, I have complete faith that Nigeria will emerge from this crisis strong, united, prosperous and secured.
“I believe that all these will come to fruition in the lifetime of this government, the lifetime of this executive, legislature and the judiciary,” Buhari said.
In a sermon, Rev. Abu Banko defined a politician as a model for all citizens, adding that a politician must be ready to give not steal from the nation.

Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez insists hard work can unlock more first team opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu after extending his contract with the European champions to 2021.
