The Anand Vihar Police report that the 22-year-old woman had filed a complaint against her husband and his two friends after they abducted her at a shopping mall and took turns molesting her, with the three of them taking turns molesting her in the moving car and also inserted candles into her private parts. Rhiann Woodyard and Cheetah Platt having been on a three-month 'wedding tour' which involves tying the knot in 38 countries around the world. Over the weekend, the couple, both acrobats, tied the knot in Thailand, and will also say 'I do' in Singapore, Australia, Fiji and the United States. They've already been married in Colombia, Spain, Ireland, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya and India. Woodyard and Platt who originally live in California, came up with this elaborate wedding plan after they became frustrated with the skyrocketing costs that came with wedding planning. According to Platt, in their budget, they could afford an 'acceptable wedding', but not their 'perfect wedding'. Aside from that, they just couldn't decide what they wanted - they liked night wedding but also saw the appeal of getting married during the day. Outdoor weddings were nice, but so also were indoor weddings. So instead of deciding on one or the other, the couple bought a $100 tuxedo and a $100 dress, packed them in their respective backpacks and set off to get married all over the world, as many times as they could. However, just like any other normal wedding, their adventure also took some planning, and with a 12-country tour, it wasn't easy to pull off. CLICK HERE TO VIEW MORE PHOTOS According to Woodyard, it took them eight months to plan the whole thing, even though the only components of their trip that they figured out before they left were transportation and lodging. In addition to how to get there and where they're going to sleep, the rest of their trip is up in the air. None of their weddings is planned; rather, they find each 'venue' as they go. Their spontaneous attitude towards marriage may be unconventional, but for them, the mechanics work. Each wedding lasts only two to four minutes, depending on the time constraints dictated by the ceremony's locale. Also, no outside officiator is present during their weddings. Both Woodyard and Platt were ordained online and are conducting 'self- unifying ceremonies,' in which they marry each other. It's a practice that's legal in several states, and "once we found that out," Platt says, "we thought, that is us." Though the ceremonies were conducted without restrictions, the couple did introduce a special requirement for their travels: They have to wear white - a rule that mostly came about because they thought it was cute. "We're dorky and we like to match," Woodyard admits. They also thought it was a way to make the experience even more personal. "We wanted this to be really be our wedding," Platt says. "And in our wedding, we wear all white." On April 18, the two plan to marry in Big Bear Lake, California, with their friends and family watching. The newly married (and soon to be married again) pair may be seeing the world, but if anything, their three-month- long wedding is only making them want to travel even more.As Woodyard says: "I t's been enough time for a wedding and to meet people and to know that we want to go back ." check naijapals.com for more pictures

The School of Early Childhood and Primary Education (SECPED) in Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Lagos, have introduced a dress code for all categories of students in the department. Mr Adeshina Sobulo, Head of Department, Primary Education told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the decision was taken at a recent Parents and Lecturers forum. According to Sobulo, the students are expected to be on Sky blue shirt, red bow tie on trousers for boys, scarf tie and black skirt for girls. He said that the dress code would be enforced at the initial stages on Tuesdays and Thursday. “The exigencies came because of the way the students dress. “By the time they are on their shirt and trouser or skirt, no part of their body will be exposed. “Some female students have come to the school to complain about harassment by male students. “On verification, you find out that the students were the first offender due to indecent dressing,’’ he said. Mr Simeon Fowowe, Head of Department, Early Childhood Education, told NAN that the management of the school had earlier placed sanctions on indecent dressing. “SECPED has gone a step further to offer dress code, this is to instill in the students proper dress sense as teachers to be. “Children also learn from their teachers, so, they have to set examples starting from their way of dressing,’’ he said. Fowowe said that the bases for SECPED, as teachers’ trainers were to incorporate care into the lives of the students. He said that the same care given to the students should be translated and extended to the children to arouse their interest when the trained teachers start practicing. The lecturer, however, emphasised the need for parental involvement in the education of the students at all levels. “I don’t think there can be anything meaningful without parental involvement at any level of education. “Particularly, at the Early Childcare Education, there has to be parents’ involvement. “We really need to call the parents so that they can be aware of their wards or children activities in the school. “There have been occasions where students have been expelled from school or female students refusing to go home because they were pregnant and so many cases,’’ he said. Fowowe said that such students most times refused to go home and parents still send money to them without being aware of their ward or children’s plight. (NAN) |
