FashionTrial Or No Trial? by dolapoiyunade(op): 11:08am On Feb 16, 2016
Trial or no trial? Well, it’s your choice. This post is all about helping you make a well-informed one. Over the years, trials have been common around the world, but in naija it’s a different ball game. This is because some people think it’s a complete waste of money. I believe getting makeup and hair trials before your wedding has a lot of advantages. In fact, it has more advantages than disadvantages.

If you have a photo inspiration for your hairdo and you are not really sure if it will suit you, then you might want to consider getting a hair trial. If you have no idea of a hairstyle for your wedding, then I strongly recommend a hair trial. Your wedding day is not the day you want to be roaming about, trying this and that, looking for which hair style fits best. Girl, there won’t be time for that on your day. And you and the hair stylist might end up frustrated because the stylist might rush things and leave your hair in a messy state. Let all the roaming about be done during the hair trial. You might even find out that the hairdo in the photo inspiration is not really what you want.

You have been thinking about getting a hair stylist , you have seen the portfolios of different stylists and now you have finally chosen one. The fact that you love what the stylist did on other people doesn’t mean that he/she would do the same on you. It is during your trial that you will actually know if your stylist can work magic on your hair. The same applies to makeup. You don’t want to end up looking like someone else or like a monster on your wedding day all because you didn’t test the makeup beforehand. Trials are like acid tests or rehearsals.  You get to know what fits and what doesn’t, you even get to know how long your makeup would last and if your mascara, eyeliner are waterproof because you might get tears on your day and you don’t want black paint running down your face all because you didn’t test whether your makeup artist would use waterproof mascara and eyeliner on you.

Perfect timing is important for great hair and makeup – that means you have to schedule your makeup and hair appointment at the right time. Your makeup and hair might look stale  before the ceremony begins if you do them too early, and you might end up rushed if you begin too late. You can know how much time it will take to get your makeup and hair done during your trial, so you can schedule an appointment right. If it takes your makeup artist 50 minutes to get your makeup done, add an extra 20-30 minutes just in case of anything. For example, if your ceremony starts by 8am, you might want to start your makeup by 6:30am . ‘Whahuh that’s too early’, you might say,  but when you start at this time, your makeup artist will take 50 minutes to get you ready and then there will be extra 20 minutes, just in case there are interruptions. And then, 20 minutes to wear your dress and leave for the ceremony. But how would you know how long it would take your hair stylist and makeup artist if you don’t get a trial.

Don’t be fooled by the old ‘Don’t worry, I’ll be faster on your wedding day speech’. How exactly would that work? Would your stylist suddenly become faster, because it’s your wedding? Or would time slow down? I don’t think so.
Makeup and hair trials are almost as expensive as the real thing, so if you are tight on money, then you might want to skip that.

FashionPrepping Your Face For Your Big Day Pt. 2 by dolapoiyunade(op): 6:06am On Feb 10, 2016
This is the second part of this post and I hope you learned a thing or two in the first part. Here we’d be talking about the face. Bad skin = bad makeup ( nobody wants that). The greatest secret to glowing skin is water. Drink lots and lots of water. If you feel drinking water is boring, you can take watermelon instead, because it contains a lot of water.

Next, you must know your skin type to know exactly how you’d take care of it. Serums and gel treatments work best for oily skin. Milky cleansers and heavy moisturizers for dry skin, and gentle skincare products with natural ingredients for sensitive skin. For sensitive skin, you should avoid products that contain perfume or any kind of fragrance. If you feel the need to, you can go for facials to pamper your skin but you must start these facials about 4-6 months before your wedding day, so your skin can adjust to the new routine.

Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week to brighten your skin tone. If you want to do this at home, it’s best you use natural products. To do this, mix a teaspoon of honey, a few drops of lemon and sugar together. Wash your face as usual, then apply this mixture on your face. Scrub gently for about 2 minutes and leave the mixture on for about 10 minutes. Rinse off. This works well because the sugar helps to scrub out dirt and excess oil, the honey helps to improve your complexion and the lemon helps to remove spots and discoloration. For better results, open your pores before the exfoliation by steaming your face for a minute over a bowl of water. After the exfoliation process, apply an appropriate toner for your skin type and finally, massage your moisturizer into your skin.

P.S: Depending on the type of dress you’d be wearing, you might want to extend the face washing and exfoliation to your neck (so your neck will not get jealous  haha!). So that’s all on our prepping your face series.

FashionPrepping Your Face For Your Big Day – Part 1 by dolapoiyunade(op): 1:05am On Feb 08, 2016
It’s almost your big day. You are about to get married to the love of your life (ooh, there’s so much excitement in the air wink). You want to look P-E-R-F-E-C-T and you’re probably wondering how you’d prepare your face for that day. Relax girl, it’s not so much of a big deal. You don’t even need to spend so much to get your makeup-ready face.

When prepping your face, the areas you should consider are your eyebrows, your eyes, your lips and your face as a whole. In this post, I’ll be telling you how you can deal with each of these parts.

BROWS

Prepping your brows is really important because well-shaped brows improve the structure and symmetry of your face. I recommend that you give yourself at least three months before your wedding day and then get a pro makeup artist as he or she would know the perfect shape to give your brows, depending on the shape of your face.

The routine should be something like this: Grow your brows out for about 4 weeks (or so, depending on how long it takes for your hairs to grow out), let your pro groom them (it’s fine if you can groom them yourself). Repeat this over 3 months. This routine allows your brows to be properly relaxed on your big day; also, if you don’t like the shape of your brows after grooming, you’ll still have plenty of time to grow them out again and get another pro that will groom them better.

EYES

Puffiness and dark under eye circles are big enemies of great eyes and so you have to get rid of them or avoid them. Take off your eye makeup with a water soluble remover and be sure to do that gently because the eye area is quite sensitive. Stress also causes puffy eyes so make sure you sleep well and apply eye cream nightly to get rid of dark circles.

LIPS

Chapped lips are a big no-no for your wedding day (trust me, you want your first smooch as husband and wife to be ma-GI-cal ! ). First, exfoliate your lips by using a wash cloth to rub your lips (gently) for about 20- 30 seconds. This process helps to deflake your lips. Try as much as possible to avoid licking your lips as they tend to dry out more. Instead use Vaseline or a lip balm to add moisture to your lips. To get softer lips, try this DIY remedy, it works all the time. Mix a teaspoon of lemon with honey, apply the mixture to your lips, leave for about 15 minutes and rinse off. Don’t forget to apply your lip balm afterwards. Do this nightly and you’d wake up with clean and soft lips.

This is all for today, check for the second part of this post on Wednesday. Thanks for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it!

My marriage ceremony is in June, and am yet to start planning, the only thing Ave done is schedule my leave for June.

Please when is the right time to start the planning and whatnot.

Honestly I don't even have a clue on what to do.

So I suggested to hubby_to_be that in April we call the families together give them the amount we intend to use, let them plan the thing demselves so that the only thing we will think about is just what we will wear.

What do u guys think.
to me, April is too far. why not start planning from February or March so everything would be in place and yhu will be relieved from stress at least three weeks before your wedding day. Also you'll have plenty of time to choose yours vendors correctly.
