Christianity EtcFr Kelvin Ugwu - On The Use Of Image In The Catholic Church by Dollarseeker(op): 8:46pm On May 21, 2020
Use of Image in the Catholic Church

Permit me to just make this clarification once again on images. People kept asking questions on images. One said:
"In Exodus 20:4, the Bible stated clearly that: You shall not MAKE FOR YOURSELF a graven image, nor a likeness of anything that is in heaven above or on earth below, nor of those things which are in the waters under the earth.
"But Catholics do not follow this. They have succeeded in making images against God's law. The same thing God is against. Yet you say Catholics are Christians? You think Catholics will make heaven?"
My response:
Leave the question of who goes to heaven or who will not go to heaven. Nobody, I say NOBODY knows who will go there or who will not except God himself. You might even be surprised the people you will see there. So calm down.
On images
Images are not only what is moulded. Images exist all around us, be it pictures, printings, artifacts, carvings, paintings of animals, of loved ones, of the sky, water etc. These are all images all around us. Even as I type this, there are images in your houses. Your profile picture is an image. .
Remember the command: Exodus 20:4 as you quoted.
"You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor a likeness of ANYTHING that is IN HEAVEN ABOVE or ON EARTH BELOW, nor of those things which are in the waters under the earth."
Following strictly the verse you quoted, and the part I highlighted, no one is allowed by any means to make any image in the form of ANYTHING in heaven above or on Earth beneath or in the waters below.
The key word there is ANYTHING. Don't make images of ANYTHING. Anything means Anything.
All those paintings of the sky in our rooms, all the art collection of images of so many people, animals, and the artifacts in our museum are all against God's law. Our pictures, profile pictures, banners and images of our pastors and wife. . .are forbidden. In the real sense of it, we all are guilty if we are to just follow that verse of the Bible strictly.
So this is not about Catholics, for if God said we should not have images, simple, we should not. Whether it is kept in homes, or on the street or in the church does not matter.
But,
What those who quote Exodus 20:4 failed to look at is that quoting verse 4 of that passage without quoting verse 5, one automatically shoot his or herself on the foot.
It is verse 5 that made us understood the point of that command. That is what gave the context and qualifications of it. This is why an exegete who interprets the bible is better listened to than those who feel they can with emotions explain the Bible. The problem is, they will fail to see the bigger picture of their erroneous interpretation until it dawned on them.
Verse 5 says:
"You shall not adore them, nor shall you worship them. I am the Lord your God."
This is why you are free to take the image of your dad or your child and place on the wall of your house, even though following verse 4, they are images you made for yourself of things God created. This is why you can go out and buy some artifacts and carving which are images of things under the earth or above the heaven and you will not be guilty. Why? Simply because, it was not for the intention of worshipping them.
So you see, the right understanding of that passage is that God does not prohibit images but rather the worship of them. We human cannot survive without images, we use imagery even in talking. Everything around us are images. Even Christ taught with imagery. But you see, because of your bias, you only see images in Catholic Churches without seeing the one right there under your nose.
I know that the next question will be about the accusations that Catholics worship those images. This question is as old as Methuselah. Maybe I will answer in the next post even though it is still funny to me how people believe that I, Fr Kelvin Ugwu and other Catholics, worship images. Chaiiiiii!!!
But before then let me ask, has this one about having images clearer to you now?

Christianity EtcUnderstanding The Meaning Of "Thou Shall Not Judge" By Fr Kelvin Ugwu MSP by Dollarseeker(op): 8:18am On May 19, 2020
Understanding The Meaning Of "Thou Shall Not Judge"
I am sure that almost everyday, we all come across people who use this quotation from Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged”.

Whenever people use the words "thou shall not Judge", sincerely I do not know what they mean. It appears to me that people use that verse to silence others from saying the truth or to validate their wrongs.
So when someone is on the wrong and you dare talk to the person, you are sure to hear "do not judge me." Invariably the person is saying: You don’t have the right to tell me that I am wrong.

And if you ever write about any wrong doings like I usually do about we preachers, politicians and the people, you must surely see comments like: "you are not the one that called them or created them. Who are you to judge? Leave God to judge them."
Did Jesus truly meant that we should not Judge in the sense of pointing out wrongs or even telling people to their faces their sins or wrong doings?

If this is so, then how can we possibly reconcile the fact that John the Baptist actually walked up to Herod to tell him to his face his sin of adultery? Is that not judgement, calling Herod an adulterer? (Matthew 14:1-13).

How can we reconcile the fact that Paul had to rebuke Peter publicly and even wrote about it. Read Paul: "But when Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him in public, because he was clearly wrong." Gal 2:11. If you read further, you will see where Paul even referred to some of the Jews and even Barnabas as cowards.
How do we even reconcile St James admonitions in James 5:19-20 which states, “My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins."
Or in common sense, how can we possibly call a spade a spade as Christians? Will it not be sinful if we call a spade a knife or we call fridge a shoe, or we call black, white?

Let us get this very clearly,
When the bible says we should not judge others, it does not in any way mean we cannot show discernment.
If you recall, immediately after Jesus says "do not judge", he went on in Matthew 7:6 to say “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs”. And as the discussion continues, he says, “Watch out for false prophets. . . . By their fruit you will know them” (verses 15–16).

How are we to discern who are the “dogs” and “pigs” and “false prophets” unless we have the ability to make a judgment on persons, on doctrines, on people's actions? Christ is giving us permission to tell right from wrong. How can we do that without discernment? How can we discern without passing judgment?
We all know that sin is sin in whichever way we want to see it. Evil is evil. Truth is truth.

To call something a lie, is that not to pass judgement? Someone who lies, is the person not a liar?
To call adultery or murder or stealing a sin, is that not to pass judgement? Someone who commits them, is the person not an adulterer, murderer or a thief?
Or are we saying we cannot as Christians identify sin in the way God sees it as sin? Or when someone lies, we should smile at him, or when someone steals, we should not mention that he is a thief? Aren't we lying by so doing?

Why did the bible dedicate a whole book in the old testament with the titled "Judges." If you go through it, the entire book is basically about judgement from judges, about defining issues?
Or can we say that in our society, lawyers and judges who judge and pronounce sentence will go to hell for passing judgment on law breakers? Can we ask all Christians not to study law and all Christian Universities to remove law from their schools?
Even somewhere in John 7:24, the same Jesus himself said, “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly." Let me repeat, he said JUDGE CORRECTLY.
Please, I am asking you all, I sincerely want to know. When you make statement like "thou shall not Judge", putting into consideration all that I have observed and in line with the bible, can someone tell me what it truly means?

what to do
Go and make peace with your husband, apologize even if you think he is wrong. Have a meeting with him, and both of you should plan on how to make things work and also how to get out of your present financial situation. both of u must vow to stick to the plans you both agreed on and if he breaks it, remind him of the vow you both agreed on and he will apologize. Always be humble before him and dont claim boss because u are providing for the family too.

Christianity EtcCovid19- Why Most Religious Leaders Must Be Called To Order; Part 2 by Dollarseeker(op): 11:29am On Apr 26, 2020
COVID-19: Why Most 'Religious Leaders' Must Be Called to Order (Final part)
12. Biblically and critically speaking, church is not supposed to be founded by any man. When this is allowed,
the church runs the risk of being operated like a business enterprise with the founder doing anything he likes
and not answerable to anyone.
13. There have never been a time that the dangerous aspect of man's ownership of churches came out clearly
than this Covid-19 era. Apart from the fact that we saw chaos, we also saw that the God of Christians is been
portrayed largely as a confused God; what he reveals in the morning to a prophet, he contradicts with what he
will reveal in the evening to another prophet.
14. The number of deaths recorded from Covid-19 after the date TB Joshua claimed that the virus will be gone
is now more than the number of deaths before that date.
15. One Prophet Dr David who claimed to have gone to China spiritually to destroy Coronavirus because,
according to him, China has no prophet to intervene, has not been seen again now that Coronavirus has come
to meet him in his own country.
16. The prophet in Kenya whom God told that the world will end on April 12, seeing that the world has refused
to end came out again to announce how he begged God to delay his coming indefinitely.
17. Then, we cannot forget the 5G and Coronavirus argument of Pastor Chris. The certainty in his voice that
lockdown was to install 5G cables secretly. The misleading teaching that as a Christian you can't be sick or
infected. Ask him to say the same thing today, and see how it will be twisted as though we were having ears
and eyes problems when he was drawing his graph of the New world order.
18. One common thing that fuels some of these contradictions is that all ministers claimed they are the
founders and overseers of their churches. Thus, there is no control. Because they feel they are gods, they will
always feel they have certain responsibility as gods to reveal to humans things not yet known or seen. This is
the genesis of all these prophecies. They just have to say something. After all they are gods. Nobody can
control them.
19. The moment you see this post as Catholic versus Pentecostals, you miss the point. The Catholic Church
has her own share of issues with her ministers, but one thing is clear, no priest is without control or an
authority that censors and call you back to order when your teaching is going against truth.
20. The Pope with all the powers you may imagine he has cannot teach whatever he likes. This is because the
church is bigger than him. He cannot even change the church's teachings even if he wants to. It is not a one
man decision.
21. In Africa, the more we make claim of being holy and religious, the more the same people cheat and lie and
do unimaginable things in God's name. The type of Christianity we are breeding makes it easier for anyone to
become atheist.
22. Unfortunately, the Pastors became who they are because of the people. We urge them on. We don't correct
them. We still contribute to them. We feel because he is a man of God, saying that he is wrong will mean you
will die. That is the brainwashing to further proof that they are your God. Wake up Africa! Don't allow men make
mess of our faith.

The End!

EWTN is like a world thing and not accessible for all Nigerians because of the subscription it takes before you can watch it on dstv. its not even on gotv. I am talking of A national Catholic TV for Nigerians, where we can always watch Catholics news, events in Nigeria and outside Nigeria, Watch mass everyday and it should be available on all cable networks in Nigeria and at a cheaper rate. Most Nigerians now depend on AIT before they can watch Catholic Mass every Sunday, which is bad and there is always errors in connection especially when airing live mass from Portharcourt

It it a disgrace that the Catholic church doesn't have a national Catholic TV for Nigerians. look at tb Joshua, look at other Nigerian pastors, they have their TV channels on gotv and mytv strong free to air etc but the Catholic church as big as it is, doesn't have a TV channel that every Nigerian can access with their TV cable. see the error in connection that we witness everyday on AIT while the mass was going on. Today error was the worst of it all as we couldn't even watch the mass properly because of constant disconnection. It is a big shame to Catholics in Nigeria, with all the offerings and tithe they receive and the number of influential and rich people in the church, Nigeria can't come up with a national Catholic TV. Nigerian catholics only depends on EWTN which is not accessible to all Nigerians even on gotv etc....SHAME

Christianity EtcCovid19- Why Most Religious Leaders Must Be Called To Order by Dollarseeker(op): 10:24am On Apr 26, 2020
COVID-19: Why Most 'Religious Leaders' Must Be Called to Order
1. The truth is, there are some shame that are difficult to swallow, but it is either we swallow them and learn a
lesson or we whitewash them, pretend they are not shameful until the day in which the shame itself will
become ashamed of us.
2. If you have been following me on this space, I am not that type of person that paint things. This is why I just
want to express how I have felt so far with the way Christianity has been mocked and rubbished since this
outbreak of Covid-19.
3. We must sadly recognize that while ministers are often called "men of God", most of them interpret it to
themselves to mean "God of men" and literally act accordingly.
4. Apostle Suleman must have seen himself as a god to be able to come to the public and declare that Pope
Francis is an Antichrist, a devil, and a murderer of thousands that have died and still dying of Covid-19.
5. Has anybody really questioned him till date? Did you hear anything from the body called CAN? Do you think
his members, even if they know that what he said is not just wrong but evil, will be able to tell him to his face?
In fact, they will rather believe he is right even when their senses say otherwise. So what do you expect him to
feel? He is a god that can't be challenged.
6. I have also noticed that anything against Catholics gives lots of Pentecostals some sort of excitement (with
some exception though). For most of them, whatever will bring an end to Catholicism is welcomed. How can
stomach be angry with head because the mouth which is part of the head will always be the first to taste the
food that will come to the stomach? How can the stomach pray for the head to be cut off? How can stomach
not know that once head is cut off, that is the end of all of them?
7. The history of the Catholic Church is the history of Christianity. If we can ever give ourselves the gift of
sincerity, every Christian can trace his or her root to the Catholic Church. If anyone wants Christianity to die a
natural death, once the person is able to bring the Catholic Church down, that is all. So rejoicing at an attack on
Catholic church is like stomach rejoicing that the head is being cut off.
8. A man with guns can order another man to jump into a burning fire and the man, despite having guns pointed
at him, may disobey the orders. But a man of religion who has claim to the supernatural, will not only order the
man, but to your shock the man might even be the one begging the man of religion to command him to jump
into the fire.
9. Religion is powerful. Religion is notoriously powerful. Religion has claim to the Divine, but it is run by man.
Any religious sect that has no structure that limits the powers of whoever is the head, can turn out to be a
dangerous sect.
10. What could make people listen to one man commanding them to eat grasses like goats or to drink poison
and die? What could make an educated man to give his only car to a man commanding him to do so in God's
name or to pay all the money he has into the church's account?
11. Pentecostal churches brought a certain type of vibrancy to faith which is undeniably beautiful, but because it
lacks control, structure and power regulation, it is as beautiful as it is dangerous. Watch out for part 2

CareerRe: Meet Rev Fr Kelvin Ugwu by Dollarseeker(op):
CareerMeet Rev Fr Kelvin Ugwu by Dollarseeker(op):
MALAWI---Just when he was beginning to enjoy
the comforts of priesthood in Lagos, Kelvin Ugwu
was posted to Chamama, a village in rural Malawi
where no one spoke English and poverty was viral.
He could reject the posting and return to Nigeria,
instead he chose to stay, as officiating priest of
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish, Kalembe.
Four years after, Kelvin is now a farmer, a social
worker and a spiritual beacon in the middle of
nowhere, for a community where, on many
occasions, families wait out their sick to die.
“In three months I learnt the language, Chichewa.
You can't operate without it...I have seen poverty
before but nothing like what I met here. A 2-year-
old child once died of malaria in my hands
because his family didn’t have the equivalence of
N2,500 for medication. There are people who
don’t have electric bulbs because they can’t pay
for power.”
In choosing to stay, Kelvin had to work with what
he had: a piggery without pigs, and farmlands
awaiting cultivation. Man can neither live by bread
alone nor without it. The farm would feed him and
occasionally feed parishioners in need of food. As
corn is the major staple in Lilongwe, Kelvin also
set up a corn mill for commercial use. The
proceeds may be insignificant given the
community’s economy, but they could save a life
in dire times.
“The farming isn’t easy though. Here we have
rainfall only four months in a year,” he told Nigeria
Abroad . “So the poverty is also from nature. Poor
harvest, poor storage and, no matter what you get
from the farm, it can’t last the rest of the year.”
“In the parish, sometimes we get help—charity,”
he says. “But that’s never enough, still we
survive.”
Though prayer can help the poor, actual work is
great too—the work to reshape the social
dynamics that sustain poverty and keep a people
trapped.
“I see girls get pregnant at 12, boys who sit at
home and do nothing. It might be easy to judge
them, until you understand the social conditions
responsible. There are no decent schools here, no
infrastructure, no jobs, only farming. I want to
change these in my own small way.”
The poverty recreates itself and Kelvin is trying to
find a way around it through reorientation and
education. Though planning to build a school
down the line, he is raising support to build a
hospital to keep the people safe.
These socioeconomic conditions may be harshest
in rural Malawi, home of over 80% of the
populace, but the entire country is equally
swamped albeit in differing degrees. A country
dependent largely on foreign aid, its 18 million
people are being pauperized by a political elite
defined by graft. Power supply is fairly stable
though, and Malawi’s democracy may have begun
to evolve from a shambolic past.
Peter Mutharika, current president who was
reelected for a second term in 2019 in sham
elections, had his victory upturned by the courts
February 2020. Fresh elections were mandated
within 5 months but are pending over the
coronavirus outbreak. With prospects for foreign
aid shrinking amid an emerging economic
downturn, Malawi’s stability may be under threat.
For its rural communities, conditions may worsen.
“I am planning to build a school here, but first a
clinic,” Kelvin enthuses. “The only functional clinic
around is four hours away. Even at that, the crowd
of patients there hardly inspires hope. We can
change that. The people need the Word of God
but they also need these interventions, especially
a clinic, more so in these trying times around the
world.”
Kelvin’s philanthropy may be rooted in priesthood
but, as a child, he had always wanted to help
those in need. Yet that childhood vision about
devotion and service may have influenced his
priestly vocation, for which he turned down the
prospect of studying medicine, and that of starting
off on an auspicious family business.
“I took the vow of poverty,” he declares, referring
to the three priestly vows of Chastity, Obedience,
and Poverty. “That vow means wherever I’m sent,
I’ll go no matter the condition.”
In an era where religious devotion is dwindling,
the Catholic Church, at least in Africa, appears to
still have a surge of yearly applicants seeking to
become priests.
“In my time, over 1,000 applied; 12 were chosen,
and only 7 were ordained,” Kelvin says. On the
sentiment that many seek priestly ordination for
economic reasons, others, for not wanting to
marry, Kelvin recalls his colleagues who
abandoned family wealth for the vocation.
“And for you to be a priest, you have to be whole,
including being sexually and emotionally whole.
You have to be giving up something, not join
because you are deficient in one way or the
other.”
An intellectual, his ministry seeks to balance
spirituality with intellect. With the rise of irreligion
on the wings of technology and knowledge, Kelvin
is eager to raise Christians who are
knowledgeable in science and basic philosophy,
enough to defend their faith with reason.
“God would not give you reason for you not to use
it. The West is stuck on reason as if faith doesn’t
matter; in Africa, we embrace faith to the
exclusion of reason. We need a balance.”
Using his #FacebookTelevision series, Kelvin has
been spreading intellectual Christianity online. One
of his most popular articles on the internet was a
rejoinder to a piece in which former presidential
aide, Reno Omokri, attacked the Catholic Church.
It is this sense of crusade that has turned a 34-
year-old Nigerian priest into an agent of change in
faraway Malawi, where he is sharing the Christian
message, rousing the intellect, and impacting a
village. As he mobilizes support to build a clinic
for strangers who have now become family, he is
full of hope.
“I like it here,” he cheers, in pure joy. It is the joy
of a young man who is making the act of faith,
giving, and devotion more fashionable in a time of
global vanity.

Christianity EtcWhat Christianity Is by Dollarseeker(op): 6:41pm On Apr 19, 2020
If Christianity was all about bodily healings, there won't have been any need for hospitals and no Christian would have died of any virus.
If Christianity was all about prosperity and material wealth, there won't have been poor Christians and the richest country would have been a Christian country.
If Christianity was about telling people exactly what will happen tomorrow, we won't have been taken unaware in many things of our lives, we Christians would have known long before now that this year's Easter will find us locked in our houses.

Rather, Christianity is simply about salvation.
Christ never promised us that being his followers means being immune from suffering, sickness or death. Or else, it would be contradictory that he even had to die at age 33 under the worst forms of pain. He never said we will automatically be rich, for at one point he had to even borrow a donkey to travel to Jerusalem, borrowed a boat to preach, borrowed a tomb to be buried in.

Instead, he promised us that we will have eternal life. This is one thing he is certain of. And this is the one thing that brought him to our world: Salvation.
We Christians fear death, but if it is true that all must die and then rise to meet the Father, then your prayers won't stop death when the time comes. We should rather intensify in doing good and stand ready to meet the Lord any time.

We fear Antichrist, but if it has been written that the Antichrist will come, your prayers will not stop him from coming. You should rather intensify in showing love and stand ready to meet Christ when the time comes. Our brand of Christianity today tends to focus more on what Christianity is NOT than what it IS.

Dear friends, focus on salvation and the love of Christ. When you are certain of this, you will say like Paul in Romans 8, 35 "What shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword?
37 "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Did you take note of verse 38? Did you see references to Virus, 5G, Antichrist, death?
Please friends focus on salvation. The Good news is that Christ has already given it to you. All you need do is to believe.

Rozz:
Sending naked pictures might be a thing right now, but it's not necessarily something some of you should be proud and comfortable with. And besides, just because he ask doesn't mean you need to oblige. Some reasons why you shouldn't oblige to such act goes thus. If you care about your future, dont go jeoperdizing it for some guy now as you might be a future CEO but you can go right ahead if you want to be Kim Kardashian. Another is self respect.Because you have it for yourself, and he'd better have it for you, too. What becomes of you when you break up? most marriages these days ends in divorce and you aren't even married yet.Do you really want your ex having cart blanche over your nudes? Anticipation is sexy, if he really wants you ,he can wait to see the real thing in person(in marriage). He's been begging for it for weeks and you caved one and sent to him.Sorry girlfriend ,it's not going to stop there, hes going to want to see you in all angles imaginable but unknowingly to you, you have just created a never ending disaster.A visit to the ashawobearparlour thread prompted to do this, say no to the demand for nude pics from this perverted men .
