PoliticsFrom Religious War Declarer To Almajiri Advocate by DomPerignon(op): 10:52am On May 26, 2025
How shameless and desperate can one man's inordinated dead on arrival political ambition be?

Giringory is not just too desperate for power but has shown that he will sink to any low pit to push his desperate ambition .

Giringry has not denied he was soliciting for the Christan votes by soliciting Protestant clergies to declare the last elections as a "religious war" to prevent a Muslim -Muslim candidacy .

Today he is groveling at the feet of the same northern Muslims he declared a war against to halt what he said was an islaization agenda.

In typical Giringory stinking hypocricy , he is hobnobbing with the midget of Kaduna who operated a Muslim-Muslim ticket during his second term and on handing over , addressed a collection of Islamic sheiks that he (midget) had ensured that only Muslims will rule Kaduna going forward. This is Kaduna that is polarized between Christians in the south and Muslims to the north.

How any one can not see this Giringory as the most dangerous and callous politician out there beats me.
PoliticsHow Orizu Paved The Way For Ironsi To Become Head Of State by DomPerignon(op): 7:53am On May 26, 2025
According to Nigeria’s former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari in his famous book Beckoned to serve, said when the Head of Government Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was abducted and later killed, the Nigerian constitution provides that the Deputy Prime Minister, who was then Alhaji Zanna Bukar Diprachima was supposed to takeover as the New leader of Nigeria.

But when Shagari and Co learnt that the First indigenous General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Armed Forces ,Major General Aguiyi Ironsi has escaped and was able to hijack the coup,Shagari in company of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s aides went to him to discuss the transfer of power to the Deputy Prime Minister Alhaji Zanna Bukar Diprachima.

As they enter where Ironsi is hiding , probably Nigeria’s Police Headquarters ,they met Nigeria’s Senate President Dr Nwafor Orizu with General JTU Aguiyi Ironsi.

According to the rules, Dr Nwafor Orizu was empowered by Nigerian laws to invite the Deputy Prime Minister to form and Head the new Government.

Murtala Coup: 45 years after(Nigeria’s first bloodless)

But surprisingly ,the senate President Dr Nwafor Orizu told Alhaji Shehu Shagari and some survivors of the coup that they should go back home and when any issue came up with regards to the formation of New Government they will ask them to come back.

Former President Shehu Shagari and the rest went out, after a while they heard Dr Nwafor Orizu over Radio Nigeria making some remarks about the mutiny where he finally invited the General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Armed Forces ,Major General Johnson Thomas Umunakwe Aguiyi Ironsi to make some remarks ,in which he later announced himself as the New Head of State of Nigeria.

Chief Richard Akinjide, a former Attorney General and Justic Minister confirned Shagari's narratives of events in his own book as well. Akinjide narrated that The G.O.C , General Aguiyi Ironsi, said he wanted to see all the cabinet ministers.

According to Akinjide: “And so we assembled at the cabinet office. Well, I have read in many books saying that we handed over to the military. We did not hand- over. Ironsi told us that ‘you either hand over as gentlemen or you hand-over by force’. These were his words. Is that voluntary handover?

So we did not handover. We wanted the Acting Prime Minister to be in place but Ironsi forced us, and I use the word force advisedly, to handover to him. He was controlling the soldiers.

The Acting President, Nwafor Orizu, “who did not co-operate with us cooperated with the GOC. Dr Orizu and the GOC prepared speeches which Nwafor Orizu broadcast, handing over the government of the country to the army. I hereby state categorically as a member of that cabinet that we did not handover voluntarily. It was a coup.”

Below is from the speech delivered Chief Richard Akinjide, SAN, at the public presentation of the first edition of the book “Fellow Countrymen – the story of Coup D’etats in Nigeria,” by Richard Akinnola on June 12, 2000):

Talking of the first coup, when Balewa got missing, we knew Okotie-Eboh had been killed, we knew Samuel Akintola had been killed. We the members of the Balewa cabinet started meeting. But how can we have a cabinet meeting without the Prime Minister acting or the Prime Minister presiding. So, unanimously, we nominated acting Prime Minister amongst us and we continued holding our meetings.

Then we got a message that we should all assemble at the Cabinet office. All the Ministers were requested by the G.O.C. of the Nigerian Army, General Aguiyi Ironsi to assemble. What was amazing at that time was that Ironsi was going all over Lagos unarmed.

We assembled there, having nominated Zana Diphcharima as our acting prime minister in the absence of the Prime Minister, whose where about we didn’t know. We approached the acting President, Nwafor Orizu to swear him in because he could not legitimately act as the Prime Minister except he was sworn in. Nwafor Orizu refused. He said he needed to contact Zik who was then in West Indies.

Under the Law, that is, the interpretation Act, as acting President, Nwafor Orizu had all the powers of the President.

The G.O.C said he wanted to see all the cabinet ministers. And so we assembled at the cabinet office. Well, I have read in many books saying that we handed over to the military. We did not hand- over. Ironsi told us that “you either hand over as gentlemen or you hand-over by force”. These were his words. Is that voluntary handover? So we did not handover. We wanted the Acting Prime Minister to be in place but Ironsi forced us, and I use the word force advisedly, to handover to him. He was controlling the soldiers.

The acting President, Nwafor Orizu, who did not co-operate with us cooperated with the GOC. Dr Orizu and the GOC prepared speeches which Nwafor Orizu broadcast, handing over the government of the country to the army. I hereby state categorically as a member of that cabinet that we did not handover voluntarily. It was a coup.

From both Shehu Shagari and Chief Akinjide's account we can easily conclude that no effort was made to locate the then missing PM and that both Ironsi and Orizu had first hand knowledge that the PM was dead.

Orizu who was acting as President of Parliament in Zik's absence and who was of the NCNC - a junior party in the coalition government led by the NPC bluntly refused to accede to the demands by NPC MPs to swear in the deputy PM but instead without any consultation and consensus with their senior partners in the NPC went on air to introduce Ironsi as the new defacto HoS.

Orizu not only gave full tacit support to Ironsi seizing power but went as far as bringing an abrupt end to our democracy.

As I have said here severally, the Jan 15 coup was an Ibo coup orchestrated by Ibo politicians led by Zik for the sole purpose to halt the inevitable secccesion of the ethnic minorities in the old Eastern region.

As for Zik, when he was interviewed in far away Haiti by the BBC on what his reaction to a military take over , Zik was in full support.

Zik , in that interview , stated with full confidence that in the absence of the PM the military should take over. Zik spoke like somome who knew already that the PM was dead . At that time of Zik granting that interview and Ironsi declaring himself HoS after Orizu "handed over " to him, the PM was presumed missing.

U have twisted the narrative again just to make it suit ur fancy.

Firstly, ...they held the referendum in Feb 1st 1961 and not in the 50's as u claimed.

Secondly, they decided to be part of Cameroon because of their strong cultural ties with Cameroun.

Thirdly, the southern Cameroun were part of Nigeria for over 50 yrs and there was the need to try another country for economic stability and not because of the dominance of igbos.

Liar liar liar.
Why was the old eastern Nigeria the most restive when it came to minority secession ?

The then Oba of Benin was at the forefront for the secession of the minority people of the western region and he outlined historical cultural differences as the main reason for leaving the Western region.

The Oba righly said that his throne once was an independent empire and wanted to have it restored and separate from any other competeting throne.

You won't know this but prior to your British masters setting foot on this corner of the world , there were proud independent and powerful African kingdoms and empires

A western Camerounian delegate complained that before he could go to the capital of Eastern Nigeria that was once Calabar but then changed to the barren landlocked hinterland of Enugu, he had to take a once in a month ship trip to Port Harcourt and then go by the British constructed rail to Enugu

Minority provinces were under severe neglect and to add insults to injury ibos were grabbing lands of minority people and once challenged the Ibo civil servant in the Survey Office will procure a fake document asserting ownership to the ibo land grabber. if the minority being cheated chose to go to court and the case was brought before an ibo magistrate, the ibo will always get a favorable ruling. if the case came before a non ibo judge the ibo land grabber will rush to the Aba division to secure a favorable outcome.

This is one of many reasons that led to the consfiscation of ibo properties by the indigenes in places like PH and Calabar.

PoliticsRe: Cameroon English Speaking Areas Made A Mistake In The 1960 Referendum??? by DomPerignon:
DMerciful:
Yet, it was the Western region that was divided due to neglet of minorities. That was how my midwest region was created
From the inception of native rule n 1951 and the setting up of regional Houses with elected representatives , the ninoroty people in the north, west and east immediately began the clamour for their own regions.

Since the regional Houses back then didnt have the powers to grant internal seccesion , the prayers of the minoroty people in the three regions was directed to the British colonial government which brushed aside their demands with the exception of western Cameroun. Western Cameroun only became part of British Mandated Nigeria after the treaty of Verssielle had divided German Cameroun following the defeat of Germany in WW1.

The clamour for the creation of Midwestern Nigeria was spearheaded by the then Oba of Benin who saw his Kingdom and supreme authority under Westen Nigeria being relegated below the Alaffin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife.

immediately on independence the Oba fontinied his quest at the regional House in Ibadan to which there was no opposotion from Yoruba MPs. Its even on record that the motion for a referendum for the people f midwest creation was passed by a Yoruba MP

Also note that it was only western Nigeria that operated a bi-mecurial Parliament with the House of Commons for elected posotions and a House of Chiefs for titled holders to which the Oba of Benin was part of.

What the above meant was that even when a Yoruba dominated House had passed the motion for referendum for the creation of Midwest it still required ratifucation from the House of Chiefs dominated mostly by Yoruba monarchs.

That is to tell you that it was only inthe Yoruba dominated House in Ibadan that the wishes of minoroties was listened to and graciuosly approved.

After the conclusion of the referendum, it was still a Yoruba Federal MP that presented the reults on behalf of the minoroty MPs calling for the Federal House to ratify the outcome and grant the creation of Midwetern region.

Was that the case in Enugu and Kaduna?

The very fact that midwest was created through democraric and constitutional means ought to tell you who the Yorubas are.

To paraphrase Awlowo, he said the Yorubas who fought against British colonialism can not turn around and hold their brothers in a union created by the British imperailists.

i am sure you have heard of the mantra "One north" and how it was coined by the Sarduna.

"One north" does not imply one unified north rather it was Sarduna's desperate actions tp keep the socalled Pagan Provinces of present middlebelt from leaving the north.

In Enugu , the Ibo dominated house acting on direct instructions from Zik did everything opppsite of what transpired in Ibadan

So, in a nutshell, the very reason midwest came to existence exonerates the Yorubas as impeilists.

As i said here befire the spam bot banned and hid my comment, independence movement meant different things fot the three major tribes.

The Fulani north looked foward to independence to re kickstart their halted jihad which had thr entire Nigeria in it cross-hairs.

You ibos, fresh from your dilligent servitide to the british colonal government , saw the Nigerian state as your bequeated settlement for your servitude to the British and you wasted no time presnting yourselves as the new colonial masters to the hapless minirities trapped in that British contrapment known as Eastern Nigeria. To showcase how deluded you were as the new colonial overlords, ypu decided to annex the newly created states of Old Rivers (present day Bayelsa and Rivers) and Old Cross Rivers (Present day Akwa Ibom and Cross River) to form your ungodly cannibal Biafra.

As for the Yoruba, they wanted to be on their own and had insisted on a referendum clause and the fact that they keyed into the demands of their cousins in the old Bendel proves thst out of the three major tribes they remain the only civil nationality that did not see minorities as one to exploit and paraatize on.

Minority provinces were in severe neglect and the few jobs available were all given to IBO's

The Nigeria you complain today wit Abuja as its capital was drawn from the template of Eastern Nigeria and Enugu .

PoliticsRe: Cameroon English Speaking Areas Made A Mistake In The 1960 Referendum??? by DomPerignon: 9:59am On May 25, 2025
KnowAll:
No they had a referendum. In the 1950’s all those English speaking areas were part of the Eastern Region in Nigeria. They had representatives in the Eastern house of Assembly. But the fear of the dominance of the Igbo made them sign up with French Cameroon thinking they would have a leverage in Cameroon than in Nigeria. The French Cameroonians promise them federalism. But by 1971 they abolish Federalism for Unitarianism hence their problems today.

If they could have waited till 1966 when states where created out of the eastern region they would have their states and today they would have be benefiting from the 13% derivatives giving to oil producing states. Unfortunately all money made from oil as they are now a Unitary country goes to the central government who spends most of that funds in the French areas to the detriment of the English Speaking areas.

They have themselves to blame.
They made their reasons abundantly clear from the beginning on why they wanted out of Nigeria and it was down to the overbearing arrogance and domineering ibo majority that had cornered everything to themselves both resources wise and job opportunities

Enugu was made the capital of Eastern Nigeria in 1959 but prior to that all resources were being channeled to develop Enugu at the expense of all so-called minority provinces.

A lowly clerk position in the local government in western Caneroun and other provinces like Calabar , PH were reserved for ibos. Land grabbing with the full support of IBO officials and even Ibo magistrates will side with their fellow ibo to legalise ibo land grab was a norm. Even ibo settlers in western cameroun were notoriously hostile in the face of their hosts as was and still is the case where ever you find ibos in Nigeria with the exception of the north which taught them a bitter lesson how to be civil.

Note that it wasn't only western Cameroun that had grown tired of being yoked to you ibos in the British lumped Eastern Nigeria.

The so-called minorities wanted out before independence and were pushing to have their own special region but Zik was able to ensure the British kept them stuck to you out of pure parasitism.

Going back a bit, and you will recall that on the eve of balkanizig Southern Nigeria into Western and Eastern Nigeria, present day peoples of Benue and Taraba were once part of Southern Nigeria but once they learnt that they will be in the sane region with you ibos they demanded that they will rather join northern Nigeria.

Moving forward to post independence Nigeria , the so-called minorities began a renewed aggitarion to leave the old Eastern Nigeria citing marginalization , oppression and suppression by the IBO majority .The minority people of eastern Nigeria were inspired by the peaceful seccesion of Midwest out of the old Western region that did not see any opposition from the majority Yoruba . In Enugu , the situation was the opposite with the IBO super majority doing every dirty trick to stop any motion by representatives of the minorities to call for a referendum. Frustrated at Enugu, the minorities took their plight to the Federal Parliament and had secured the support of Northern ,Western and Midwestern Parliamentarians to grant a referendum for tthe minority people of Eastern Nigeria for the creation of the Calabar -Ogojaa-Ribers region. This was in late 1965 and the matter was to be presented oficially in Parliament after the Christmas break.

The IBO coup of Jan 15, 1966 was to prevent the Federal House from returning back from Christmas break to address the issue of COR region which was the first thing on the docket.

Your greed and foolishness is why everyone hated to be lumped with you and as soon as the British left , everyone wanted nothing to do with you.

Why did Ojukwu declare Biafra ?

It had nothing to do with ibos being slaughtered up north but because Gowon finally freed the minorities from your parasitic grasp through state creation.

Ojukwu went to war to preserve the British drawn colonial borders to continue the parasitic internal colonialism .
