The owners of the building earmarked for demolition are not complaining as they know they will be compensated with the current market value of their properties. The ones whose homes have been demolished are not crying as they have since cashed out.

Also, there is a law that grants the Federal govt exclusive rights to all coastal setbacks up to 150m from the very edge of the ocean.

FG is even being magnanimous by paying anything because the properties encroached on federal land in the first place and none of the owners have a Federal issued Certificate of Occupancy. Their lawyers have briefed them on going to court to challenge the FG reclaiming their land. If anything , the FG has been kind enough to pay compensation at current market value to property owners along the path of this project.

Its for this reason I am banking on the very pliable Amaechi whom I know will agree to do one term and ensure one of the young blood northerners takes over in 2031.

This makes no sense, this area is already built up. The highway is what is new so you cant destroy peoples property because of needless clearance.

What safety? The way to ensure safety when you are building a new highway in a built up area is to build tall fences around the highway to wall off conmunities. Thats how its done in many cities in the US like chicago, indiana, texas etc.

Abuja is nothing compared to lagos in terms of size and density. So you can take as much clearance as you like there. And most roads were built before hand there.

In US the highest you can get 130 feet which translate to about 40 meters. It is even rare to see highway kickbacks up to 100feet which is like 30 meters or there about. In essence 150m kickback is sheer wickedness to fellow citizens
