I said the woe Jesus pronounced on the Pharisees and Scribes was due to the fact that prioritised tithe payment over weightier issues like justice, mercy and faith. Yet he did not abolish any of the matters.

That is not what Jesus said.

He said they paid tithe of mint, anise and cummin. They were already doing it. It was their decision.

And then he did not ask them to stop.

Years earlier God had already declared that we bring all the tithes into the storehouse

The bolded is clear enough. Jesus was addressing the fact that they were faithful in tithing and not that they should pay tithe of only mint, anise and cummin - the sole decision of the Pharisees and Scribes.

In Matthew was Jesus commending the tithers? Did you know you could read the ending phrase as Jesus saying, you ought to have done this without leaving it undone?

Did you know that no matter how profitable scripture is, it only reveals the saviour and doesn't save you?

Did you know that Jesus is revealed in Malachi 3?

As as the Bible was written, most of the people being spoken to had ceased to exist.

Then why was the instruction recorded?

In a list of woes, did Jesus mention that as something good they did?

Jesus was inferring that they prioritised less weighty aspect of the law(paying tithe) over the weightier aspects of the law(judgement, mercy and faith). That was what Jesus pronounced woe on.

He did not condemn payment of tithe.

In Genesis 49:4, Jacob was pronouncing judgement his son that defiled his bed. And it could still apply to whoever does so today.

In Matthew 23:23, Jesus was establishing doctrine and giving them priority. The Pharisees are no more. But the principles still apply to us today
