In return, the borrower agrees to a certain set of terms including any finance charges, interest, repayment date, and other conditions“.

This is perhaps the most obvious way of identifying these scam apps. Every app must get published on the playstore before people can download and install it. People don’t just download apps from playstore without first checking out the reviews left by others who have used or tried using the app.

For instance, when you check out 9jacash, you see reviews like this one “I collected a loan from this app, but unfortunately, their customer service is absolutely trash. I am willing to repay even before the due date but i was unable to, due to an error from their end (unable to bind card).Their customer service did not even listen to hear me talk, all they keep saying is that they will report my record. Why the threat when I am ready to pay”?

This and many of such reviews are very common with these fake loan apps. Does this mean that the genuine loan apps don’t have one or two negative reviews?Of course they do. But the fake loan apps have more negative reviews than positive ones. And you can be sure that the positive reviews are left by their cronies, partners in crime. And the interest rate is very high. As high as 30% for a 7 day loan. Whenever you spot such loan apps, do not use them. They will choke you financially.

3. Abusive Practices
Fake loan apps have perfected the art of abusing and threatening their customers, even when the customers have not defaulted. A lot of these loan apps gain access to your phone contacts, emails, text messages, picture gallery, and location when you install the apps. The app can then send messages to your contacts, share your pictures and videos on social media to as many as they deem fit.

According to Clacified, “Fake loan apps have become a major issue in Nigeria owing to their aggressive collection tactics. Their modus operandi is to provide a loan in exchange for access to personal information and data on the phone, such as the contact list as well as credit and financial standing of individuals.

“Once the loan is granted—often for a fraction of what was initially requested—within a few days, representatives of the fake loan app demand payment of the money with criminal interest rates via text messages and phone calls, which quickly escalates into an operation of harassment and threats against the borrower and his or her family”.

Many people’s lives have been ruined by these fake loan apps when the operators decided to share their private photos and confidential information with the public. There are cases where these loan operators call the customer’s contacts and send them messages reporting the customer, even when the customer in question still has a day left to pay up. Violation of privacy, threatening messages, and abusive calls is one major hallmark of these fake loan apps. They make life miserable for their customers.

A 21 year old suspected kidnapper,Muhammad Aliyu, has been nabbed by men of the Nigerian Police Force.

The suspect, Muhammad Aliyu, said he went into kidnapping to raise capital for business since his father refused to give him money to set up a business.

Speaking to newsmen at the Bauchi State Police Headquarters, the suspect said that he finished secondary school at Government Day Secondary School, Rimin Zayam; and although his WASSCE result was good, he couldn’t further his studies because of lack of money.

He further said that after he and his gang kidnapped their first victim, they were paid N500,000 ransom before they released him.

He said that he received N60,000 as his share, with which he had hoped to start the business before he was arrested.

Prince Kelvin Ekelechukwu Umejuru, Port Harcourt based entrepreneur and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), has voiced strong concern over the level of poverty ravaging people in oil bearing communities in the state.

The politician who stated this while handing over keys of a 4-bedroom apartment he built for an indigent, middle-aged member of Idu-Obosiukwu Community, Mr. Obulor Ozah on Sunday, said he is saddened to see people not reaping the benefits of their God-given natural resources.

He wondered why oil giants like Shell, Agip and Total, three notable oil operators in Idu-Obosiukwu Community would fold their hands and watch members of their host communitie wallow in abject poverty, not doing something to amiliorate their plight.

Prince Umejuru said his acts of benevolence is not only aimed at giving back to society, but also a good gesture of gratitude to God.

"The man I built and furnished this 4-bedroom apartment for is not my relation in any way. I returned home to the village and found him in his dilapidated mud house with leaking roof. He was very sick and didn't even have money to treat himself.

"Moved with compassion, I offered to help him. He told me he was going to die and pleaded that I should just assist him build a one-room structure so he can be buried in it when he dies", Umejuru narrated.

Having assured the sick man that he will not die, Umejuru said he directed his Engineer to take him to hospital, where he was treated.

"I then asked my Engineer to suspend my housing project, pull down the mud house and move all equipment to where the mud house was demolished. That was how the building started and the result is the magnificent 4-bedroom we are commissioning today", the Prince declared, adding rhetorically "the man who could hardly have water to drink now gives out free water to the community with four water taps in his frontage".

The APC strong man, while handing over the keys of the apartment to the lucky man, also gifted him a sum of fifty thousand Naira for celebration of the annual Igbogwe new yam festival which kicked off same day.

Receiving the keys to the apartment, a tearful but elated Mr. Ozah who is of the Uriem family stock in the community, prayed ceaselessly for more of God's blessings for his benefactor.

In his speech at the occasion, the Chairman of APC in ONELGA, Dr. Christian Ogbowu described Prince Umejuru as a proud and dedicated party member with a rare sense of benevolence and urged him to keep up the tempo.

Among guests that graced the occasion are the PCA group in the APC, party chieftains, Chief Emeka Beke, Hon Henry Odili and Hon. Napoleon Ukalikpe as well as APC Chairman in Ward 6, ONELGA, Prince Chukwuma Umejuru.

Also present was the Ochioha of Idu-Obosiukwu Community, HRH, Orukwo Uchechukwu Bright and his counterpart from Omoku, HRH, Eze Chikere.

It must also be noted that Prince Kelvin Umejuru recently bagged an International award in recognition of his numerous humanitarian activities. In his words "I was recently honoured with an International Humanitarian Award.

The National Identity Management Commission(NIMC)has asked Nigerians to dial *346# on their mobile phones to retrieve their NIN number.

This development came about after the Nigerian Communications Commission [NCC] gave two weeks deadline for subscribers to provide valid National Identification Number (NIN) to update their SIM registration records.
The *346# USSD code is available for MTN, Airtel, 9mobile and Glo network subscribers.

The NCC had introduced a new measure for mobile phone SIM users, and part of it is a compulsory update of valid National Identification Number [NIN].

For subscribers that haven’t yet registered for the National Identity Card, here is a step by step guide on how to go about it.

Step 1

Fill the NIMC Pre Enrolment online form on the NIMC portal https://penrol.nimc.gov.ng/loginForm.tpl.html.php
Input the correct information on all the mandatory fields on the form.
Download and print your Pre Enrolment Slip.

Step 2

Submit Your Application

Walk into the nearest NIMC Registration Centre with any one of the following Original and Valid supporting documents.

Old National ID Card.
Driver’s License.
Voter’s card (Temporary or Permanent)
Nigerian International passport.
Certificate of Origin.
Attestation letter from a prominent ruler in your community.
Birth certificate.
Declaration of age
At the Enrollment Center, you will be directed to one counter where Enrollment Officers will verify all the details on your application.
If your application is in order, the Enrollment officer will guide you on how to proceed with the capture of biometrics (ten finger prints and facial image), and you will collect the Transaction ID Slip as evidence of the transaction.

Step 3

Collect your NIN

The normal time frame to get your National Identification Number (NIN) Slip is within 2 to 3 working days from the time you captured your biometric details at the enrollment center.
The issuance of NIN may take longer time for some cases.
You may need to keep the Transaction ID Slip very well inorder to present it at the time of collection of NIN Slip.

There is a practice currently going the rounds where people go naked when they want to pray to God.Why must you remove your clothes before praying? A lot of them believe that praying while naked gives more power to your prayer,and moves God to work faster on your behalf.But I find no basis for this in the Bible.It's just not scriptural. But a lot of people,especially the ladies,will tell you that it's working for them.Is this claim real or just a fallacy?

To any casual reader, a story of a poor woman who has a blind husband and nine (9) children, three of whom are very sick and presently in the hospital would most likely sound like one of those Nollywood movies where anything is possible. Well, this is not a Nollywood movie, but a true life story!

This woman has been battling to raise money to pay for the treatment of her child who is suffering from an undiagnosed health condition. According to the 48 year old mother, Mrs. Obiageri Uti, the child was born with a swollen stomach. Few months ago, he was operated upon, and currently has his intestines outside his stomach, and he does not eat owing to his ill state. To make matters worse, there is no way to ascertain the cause of his illness as there is no blood in the child to extract for laboratory tests.

In light of the desperate situation this family is in, one would have thought that the parents would have been able to fight and save their 18 month old son, but how possible could that be when they have 8 other children to cater for, and the man is blind? Yes, Mr. Uti, the father of the sick child is blind, which transfers the burden of
catering for this large family on the shoulders of the wife, a common housewife. According to Obiageri, all the children have dropped out of school owing to her inability to pay their fees, while 3 of the children are presently sick and staying at home at their AWA one home, in Ugwuta one LGA of Imo state. She said she has spent about two hundred thousand naira (#200,000) on the child, and she still has to spend more if she must save his life, but she doesn’t have a dime left as she has spent all she had on him.

Asked if anyone has rendered any financial assistance to them since they came to the hospital,, she said no one, apart from a good Samaritan named Dutch Mykelz who in his own little way has come to give her and the children hope.

Speaking about the experience at the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, Imo state, Dutch Mykelz, an upcoming artist, who visited the sick child with his crew, said he was just speechless when he saw the deplorable condition the woman and her kids were in. He said he was planning on doing the little he could to assist the family, as their problem was far bigger than he alone could tackle. He also lamented the fact that he hasn’t “blown” yet in the music industry, hence he would have single-handedly sponsored the entire family without even letting anyone know about it. He then made a pledge to donate a percentage of his album sale to helping families like the one under consideration. He appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to please come to the aid of this poor family, noting that whatever you do for the less privileged will definitely come back to repay you in the long run.

A Relationship can be defined as a Ship conveying two or more relations towards a given destination.Here are a few characteristics of a ship which you can use to evaluate your relationship...

1.War ships. If you are always quarrelling & fighting in your relationShip, then you are in a war ship. Please don't be enticed by what he/she gives you. Flee for your life!
2.Cruise ship. You guys seem to be catching fun, eat Mr. Biggs, ice cream, movies, but no purpose nor destination for the relationship. Then you are on a cruise ship. You will get fat, and he will later dump you. Don't let ice cream and shawarma blind your sense of judgment.
3.Freight/cargo ship. This kind of ship carries cargo, or load. If you are the one paying her brother's fees, pay her rents, give the parents feeding money, repair their fridge, then bro, you are in a cargo ship. I won't tell you what to do. You can chose to remain there, or leave.
