For 30-year-old Nweke Chinonso, the tragic events of Sunday, April 19, 2015, could as well be the handiwork of a spiritual influence or force beyond his control. “I do not know the spirit that got inside me that day,” he began. Chinonso, an Imo State indigene, was calm as he explained that he should be seen as the victim of a supernatural force that took control of him and made him to kill his neighbour, Kunle Abiola. Chinonso, who is being held at the Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba, Lagos, told our correspondent that he only sat in the front of his house to relax that Sunday morning when the deceased and another neighbour came to trouble him. “I no longer go to church,“I was relaxing in the front of my apartment at 100, Mba Street, Ajegunle, when my neighbours, Ismail and Kunle (Abiola), told me to join them where they were sitting. I told them I would not and they started to foment trouble. “I did not want to associate with them because I don’t speak their language and I can’t trust them. But while they were troubling me where I sat, Ismail pinned my arms behind me and Kunle slapped me. “Immediately he slapped me, I could not control myself anymore, it was like I was on remote control as a spirit pushed me to go and take a kitchen knife. I rushed in and took the knife, came back outside and stabbed Kunle.” The deceased was stabbed twice – in the chest and jaw. As incredible as Chinonso’s claim sounded, he swore he was telling the truth. He explained though, that Abiola had in the past slapped him for no concrete reasons. “There was even a time I went to a drinking joint in our area and saw him (Abiola) there. As soon as I sat down, he came over and challenged me for coming to the same joint where he drank. He slapped me right there and I could not do anything,” Chinonso said. Asked if there were other issues that could warrant the alleged harassment he was suffering in the hands of the deceased, Chinonso told Saturday PUNCH, there had never been any issue between them. As soon as Chinonso stabbed Abiola, he slumped and was rushed to the hospital as blood gushed from his chest and jaw. Residents instantly restrained Chinonso, tied him up and beat him as police were alerted to the incident. Abiola was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital However, residents who spoke with our correspondent, said Chinonso’s version of the story was all lies. His older sister Madylin Sweeten who was also on ‘Raymond’ confirmed the death of her brother “This morning a terrible family tragedy occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend took his own life.” Sawyer played Geoffrey Barone — one of Ray Romano‘s twin boys — on the series from 1996 to 2005. He not only co-starred with Madylin, but also his real life twin brother Sullivan. A ghastly accident between a motorcycle and a Toyota Sienna space bus claimed 3 lives this morning at around 8:26am along Akungba-Owo Express way, Eti oro, Ondo State. While speaking with one of the eye witness named Roland Adeleye , inform9ja.com gathered that the accident was caused when the driver of the Sienna Bus tried to escape from Akungba Drivers Union who were pursueing him to collect their load fee. The Sienna driver in an attempt to overtake and by-pass the union ran into a motorcycle carrying 2 passengers.The accident resulted in instant death of the 3 people on the motocycle.Passengers in the Sienna space bus including the driver which were heading to Akure had no scratch on their body. Real Madrid have announced the arrival of Brazilian starlet Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro. The midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Spanish giants. Despite the controversy greeting his deadly advert in some national dailies, Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has vowed to do anything possible to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan wins the February 14 presidential election. Fayose said this in Emure Ekiti at the flag-off of the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party’s House of Assembly and National Assembly candidates in Ekiti South senatorial district. The governor, who spoke at the palace of Elemure of Emure Ekiti, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo, described Jonathan as a humble person, who never allowed the power of office to affect his attitude. He said, “What I believe in my life is absolute loyalty and that is my own philosophy about politics. It is either I am for you or I am against you. “President Goodluck Jonathan supported me when I was contesting and this is a payback time. We have to support him because it was God that brought him into power. “Apart from the fact that President Jonathan has done his best for Nigeria, presidency is a very powerful position that needed a humble personality like Jonathan to superintend over. So Ekiti must stand up for Jonathan and I want to assure you, he will not forget you.” Fayose appealed to all aggrieved PDP aspirants to forget their grievances and work together for the good of the party. “When I was in opposition, I defeated an incumbent governor in all the 16 local government areas. The Presidency on Monday evening reacted to the killing of over 30 school children in Potiskum, Yobe State, by a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber, who exploded a bomb as students gathered for a Monday morning assembly. A statement released by the Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati stated that “President Goodluck Jonathan extends heartfelt commiserations to the Government and people of Yobe State on the death of many students in a bomb attack on Potiskum earlier today”. President Jonathan also conveyed his deepest sympathies to parents of the school pupils who lost their lives in the blast, noting that it was a “heinous attack”. He condemned “the dastardly murder of the students on their school’s assembly ground as they prepared to begin another week of study in pursuit of a better life for themselves and their families. “He assures the grieving parents and people of Yobe State that no matter how long it takes, the Federal Government will ensure that all those responsible for the senseless murder of so many promising youngsters and the continuing acts of terrorism across the country are brought to justice and made to pay for their atrocious crimes”. President Jonathan further assured citizens of the country that in spite of seeming setbacks, his administration remained fully committed to winning the war against insurgency and terrorism. “Nigeria will ultimately overcome the current security challenges imposed by domestic terrorists and their foreign allies, with the dedication of its Armed Forces and national security agencies”, the statement added. Wenger watched on in frustration, as his team surrendered a three-goal lead against Anderlecht in the Champions League this week, to draw 3-3 at the Emirates. The Frenchman takes his team to Swansea on Sunday. And although they sit 12 points behind leaders Chelsea, Wenger remains adamant that it is not over for them. “If I say to you: ‘No, the objective is not to win the title’, then I have to commit suicide when I go out from here,” Wenger said. “The objective now realistically is for us to get back in a position where we have a chance to win the title. “That is far from done.
