Politics › Balarabe Musa Rejects New Fuel Price by Donbrowser26(op): 12:59pm On May 12, 2016 |
Former governor of Kaduna state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has urged the Federal Government to reverse the N145 new petrol pump price introduced on Wednesday. Musa, who is also a national leader of the Peoples Redemption Party, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Kaduna. He said that the government’s action would inflict more pains on Nigerians. “We are in trouble; the already bad situation will get worse and it will worsen the poverty level of Nigerians,” he said. The politician said that he would support the Nigeria Labour Congress planned mass protest to compel the Federal Government to reverse the decision. He alleged that the proceeds from the new price of the product may only benefit some persons and caucuses within government. The former governor also urged Civil Society Organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to join in appealing to the government to reverse the decision “for the sake of the masses”. IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1) One barrel of Crude oil = 42 gallons or 159 litres 2) Our Refineries (i.e 4) Installed (combined) capacity = 445,000 barrels per day 3) Actual refineries capacity due to ageing equipment = 30% i.e. 133,500 barrels per day. 4) 133,500 barrels = 21.2 million litres 5) Local required consumption (F.O.S) = 12millions litres 6) It means that even our MORIBOND refineries can actually meet our local consumption need of petroleum. 7) The cost structure of crude oil per barrel (i.e. Qua Iboe Crude Oil) production; - - Findings / development - $3.5 - Production cost - $1.5 - Refining Cost - $12.6 - Pipeline/transportation - $1.5 - Distr/bridging fund Margin -$15.69 True cost of one BARREL of petroleum anywhere in Nigeria: - Total sum cost/barrel = $34.8 - 1ltr cost = $34.8/159 litres = $0.219 - Naira equiv. 0.219xN160= N35.02k - Add Tax N5 + N35.02 = N40.02 9) Let FGN refute the above composition and if not, they should tell us how they came about N95/N85 litre. 10) Locally refined products cannot be sold at International price. 11) We really do not need FGN SUBSIDY as there was NONE in the first place. 12) What is LACKING, is the WILL to enforce LAW ON CORRUPTION. Politics › Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by Donbrowser26(m): 12:34pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
omonnakoda: The president should not get involved in such matters in keeping with the belonging to no one doctrine. Is he an expert on Islamic studies? On what basis can he pronounce on education curricula whether on Islam or Mathematics? This is an area of TECHNICAL expertise and should be left to experts .Once politicians become involved it becomes politicized. Imagine if a history book starts talking of atrocities against Biafra etc and a president says it should be adopted. There is presumably a process through which books are adopted for curricula.Politicians should not be involved. What next a history book telling us that the 1966 coup was an Ibo coup? This is an unwise move that sets a dangerous precedent Another beautiful comment but when you talk now the next thing is you are a tanoid |

Sweetlemon: WTF is wrong with you? Why are you so damn negative?! When Jonathan was visiting different churches every sunday why didn't you see anything wrong with it? Did he recommend churches for Nigerians? When asked why he hasn't been visiting mosques I remember him saying he hasn't received any invitation from anyone of them. Just stop being bias. Buhari is a president and not an educationist. |

ohzee: Yes I am not surprised one bit. Flashback to 1983/84 academic session. I was in JS1 in a Federal School in Benin and I studied Islamic Religious Studies and Arabic as compulsory subjects. Guess who was in power then? It's déjà vu. Those of us who experienced that era knew what we were saying when we talked about Islamization. If we protest now, they will say after all CRK is also being studied in schools. Ok oh.... No further comments Mummy good afternoon ma |

Politics › Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by Donbrowser26(m): 11:49am On Aug 04, 2015 |
BeauHomme: No cause for alarm. He's only suggesting these books be included in the Islamic Studies syllabus. Only those taking the course have a say in this matter.
But there are many books written and still in writing. If every leader came suggesting his preferred book to be included in our curriculum, we're in for clash of interests in the future. Soon someone will come, lobbying for Obasanjo's books to be included in our history syllabus.
These leaders should just face the business of governance and leave these issues for the relevant constituted authorities to decide. This is the best unbiased comment I read so far. Buhari is not the education minister for goodness sake. |
