Akwa Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel, has sacked all the commissioners in his cabinet. A statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Etekamba Umoren, announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council.



The statement advised all the commissioners to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their ministries. No reason was given for the decision.

The statement said, “The Governor expresses his deep and profound appreciation for the contributions of the EXCO members to the development of the state, and wishes them success in their future endeavours.

Most of the serving commissioners were from the administration of his predecessor, Godswill Akpabio.

History was made in Italy last week as Vicenza attacker Cristian Galano received Serie B’s first-ever green card, which was awarded for fair play.



Officials speaking for the Italian second tier announced the scheme at the beginning of the season and said that the player with the most green cards at the end of the season will receive a reward.

Tuesday marked the first instance of the new policy in action, when Galano admitted that no Virtus Entella defenders had touched the ball when referee Marco Mainardi had incorrectly called for a corner kick.

Residents of Assakio Development Area in Lafia, Nasarawa State were thrown into confusion on Saturday following the sudden appearance of a strange cross five feet away from a central mosque in the community.
The mysterious sighting attracted a mammoth crowd from Assakio and its environs with many praying for forgiveness and blessings.
A 15 year-old-girl, Hajara Hussaini, in an interview with Punch said she first sighted the sign of a cross at about 8pm on Wednesday.
Hussaini, who said she had been sent on an errand by her parents, explained that when she saw a strange light, she as gripped by fear and rushed back home to alert her mother, Matan Liman.
Confirming the incident to journalists, Matan said she had sent her daughter to visit her grandmother. The middle-aged woman added that her daughter saw the crucifix while returning from the errand.
Other eyewitnesses, who spoke to Punch at the scene of the sighting, expressed fear and bewilderment.
An Enugu State native, Grace Eze, who resides in the Ashige area of the community, added that she got healed after visiting the scene of the cross.
She said, “I underwent a surgery about two years ago after which I started to experience a movement in my body. But after praying before the cross, I got healed.”

Wife of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Governor, Mrs Margaret Emefiele, kidnapped on Thursday has been released by her abductors.

Family sources told Thisday Newspaper that she was rescued “due to the gallantry of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces”, in Ugoneki near Benin City and is currently recuperating in Government House, Asaba.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet reportedly crash landed at Barcelona airport on Monday night after the plane’s landing gear broke on impact with the runway.
Neither Ronaldo nor any of his family were on board when the Real Madrid star’s Gulfstream G200 aircraft was reported to have suffered a landing gear problem as it touched down at Barcelona’s El Prat airport.
The incident – in which no one was hurt -resulted in one of the airport’s runways being closed as emergency services dealt with the jet, which Ronaldo is believed to have bought for about £16million one year ago.
Ronaldo was with his Real Madrid teammates in Germany at the time of the crash ahead of Los Blancos’ Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.
