Vanpascore:
Dear Nairalanders, pls your urgent advice is needed as we have 48 hrs ultimatum. A friend of mine travelled to Dubai two months ago with the aim that d place will be a better place for him bt on getting there, the opposite was met. He went there through an agent in Nigeria here who has a partner in d UAE. He applied for working visa which he was given two years by a company there. The problem started when he got the visa and occupation written on it is "Ordinary Labourer" as he applied for welding work, but the agent told him that, that is UAE style since he is going there as a technician. On getting there, he was welcomed by the company and he started work the third day as a labourer, real one. With this, he was given some documents which have been signed on his behalf, he was surprised as the documents contains employee -employer agreement. He called the agents both the one in Nigeria and UAE immediately what he saw, but the agents said he should be enduring.

To cut the story short, the work is a typical slavery work, though he is collecting about 65K/month as wage, when converted to naira. Now the problem is that other documents he needed to sign, he refused because of those conditions and since then, the agents have been begging him to sign. Also, there was a need for him to do medicals, he also refused and fortunately for him, he met one of the directors in the company and explain things to him bt the man answered him to write cancellation letter so that he can be sent back to Nigeria. But he did not want to waste almost 500k he paid this agent.

Now a Nigerian he met there directed him to go to the labour complaint office in Dubai, which he did and he got this reply from d labour office today "A complaint application number (MB165125948AE ) has been made on company number (488063 ) from employee (CHARLES UGO ) having work permit number ( 65600814), we hope that both of you would mutually discuss on this complaints during next 48 working hours before it gets registered on the company." Now the problem, this message has been forwarded to the company, the company has forwarded it to the agent in Dubai and the agent now called him and said he has made a great mistake by reporting that he may be deported and banned for one year from entering UAE.

Pls Nairalanders, 48hrs has started about 4hrs ago, the company may call on him in d next 4/5 hrs, what should he do? Is it true that he may be deported based on this?? Pls your sincere advice is needed. c

Nothing like that will happen. UAE don't joke with workers right...... At the end ur friend may be compensated heavily if the case is taking to court and he wins. Your friend should report that he was deceived and he feels cheated. He should act as a victim and insist he was misled. If he does that n he wins the case he will be paid over 2 million naira by the comapny but he must make it look like human traffiking...... I hope he's a graduate with his certificate with him...... Many companies use agents to get ignorant people as labourers here... 65k is damn to small. where I work in dubai a sec school holder gets over 200k..... so please he should not back out he has a very strong case..... if the comapny is culpable he will be paid 2 years salary n a return ticket n he will not be banned for 1 year.

So please tell ur friend to act as a victim n stand by his right.....

There are so many countries in the world that are populated too....China a very good example.. Do u think the chinese will find that pic funny and amusing if it were to be used according to you "metaphorically" to show how their nation will look like in future...

That pic was totally condescending with a capital letter....

Do you know the land mass of China?

If you do you would not mention China.

CNN isnt dumb to just put any degrading pics without facts...

Our govt lack creative governance. Instead of looking for creative solutions to systematic problems they just settle for a quick fix and thats it.

Unfortunately, U do not know when insult is been thrown at u even when it's starring at you eye ball to eyeball... U that's trying to support CNN, by saying Nigerians does not know how the nation will look like, do the CNN know how Nigeria will look like in future?
Meaningful citizens can't just swallow insult the way u do....And i have never seen anyone that got relaxed and feel indifferent when his nation is been insulted.... except maybe u

It's unfortunate many Nigerians are so daft in reasoning. That pics is a metaphorical statement. You can see cable cars powered by solar panels. The picture is saying with the explosive population growth, the lack of available land, lack of creative governance and scope lagos will face some challenges in the future..
And you see some educated illiterates exposing their lack of depth and impoverished home training to the world.....

Politics / Re: Police Withdraws Individuals And Companies' Security Guards by donfineboi: 8:56am On Jun 27, 2016
olokeded:
Acting Inspector General of Police IGP, Ibrahim Idris has ordered the withdrawal of all officers attached to individuals and companies.

IGP Idris gave this order at the passing out parade of squadron commanders Operation Course Os/2016, held at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Forest Camp, Ila Orangun,Osun state.

According to him, the force under him would be decisive in dealing with unauthorised deployment, saying men and officers attached to mobile police force working as personal security guards to individuals and companies must immediately be withdrawn.

The police boss further averred “as commanders of the operational arm of the Force, it is of uttermost importance that you display a high sense of professionalism by ensuring that your personnel are appropriately deployed to authorised persons only.

“On this premise, all personnel deployed to unauthorised beats/individuals should be withdrawn immediately.”

Reiterating his plans for training and retraining of officers and men to guarantee maximum productivity, Idris said efforts are on to reclaim Police Training School, Gworza, Borno state seized by the insurgents.

I never called you a goat, i only said i can never make sense to goats, but you decided to take offence. Anyway, if the shoes fits wear it! tongue

You can only be treated according to how you behave, i do not do favours. If you act like a gentleman you will be treated like a gentleman, if you act otherwise you will be treated accordingly.

My little advice on life to you. Never ever go around thinking you can talk anyhow to any female because you expect her to show you humility and respect. Respect is earned and not demanded without justifiable cause!

Do not look for trouble if you do not want trouble to trouble you. Thats how life works.

Obviously you cant make sense to GOATs. Greatest Of All Times.....lol cheesy

You are one rude individual. You better be mindful who you disrespect online my dear you can never tell who..... You need to grow a tough skin and learn how to handle criticism. Not by throwing insults, showcasing/ exposing the decay of your up bringing. But by being matured and constructive in your response.
I pray you somehow understand my position and you desist from this rashness.....

I believe you are a lady. Humility, respect and understanding should be the pillars that reflect in every reaction you make. You must be aware of the rise in domestic violence in marital homes in Nigeria, I read them often here and other sites, your rashness is a very good recipe to that effect. So please for your own good learn to be polite, matured and ladylike. It wont cost you anything my dear.

vague:
after all this is said and done, so the child should without a father just to spite the mother right?
She didn't ask for marriage, she asked for him to man up for the child's sake! A good mother would know the importance of a father figure in a child's life, regardless of who gave birth to him or her. Only a grandmother who is not okay in the head would want a grandchild to be abandoned just to spite the mother.

If she was a woman any wiser than Uju would she have addressed the issue publicly? Did she just not do the very same thing she condemned that girl for? I guess wisdom doesn't come with age after all.
