Someone legit said religious countries are the least developed in the world.

I guess he hasn't heard of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Brunei Darussalam and the UAE.

Or he thinks development starts and ends in the USA.
I didn't see this earlier.
It's one thing to be wealthy and have Money. It's another to have a good quality of life and live a peaceful and fulfilled life.

Most of those countries you listed are the biggest violators of Human Rights. For instance, women are seen as totally inferior to men and are treated as second class citizens.

And guess what, their laws are directly derived from their religious books (the Quran and hadith). These laws make their society insufferable to all the women there.
In many of them, women don't have the right to drive, women don't have the right to legally own a house, women don't have the right to vote not to talk holding public offices, women don't have the right to go out publicly without the consent of their fathers or husbands. A man's word is superior to the woman's in the court of law. There are no female judges.

The list goes on and on. Not to talk of their capital punishments for minor belligerence. Or their socially constraining rules.
These are countries where adultery is punishable by death by stoning.
Possession of alcohol gets you public flogging and humiliation.
Fornication gets you public flogging and long term imprisonment and the terms are different forth genders.
Punishment for being gay is death by hanging. Breaking a fast during their religious feasts gets you a public flogging.
I
I don't even want to talk about the strict compulsory fashion choices for women.
A man and a woman are forbidden from sitting together in public transportation. Both have separate sections.
Women are forbidden from going to stadiums and some other public facilities.

Deserting your religion (apostasy) is a legal death sentence by beheading.

You only need to look at some of those countries you listed to see the dangers of applying religious rules to a society.

There is a reason you will not hear of any woman you know wanting to go to those countries for greener pastures. It is a man's world out there.
And the funny thing about this is that this is the part of the world with the highest porn consumption, you can imagine the irony.

You may be tempted to say, that is not my religion, it is a different one, but look no further than your Bible and see the great similarities they share. They are one and the same.

The rich Muslim countries got extremely lucky because of the vast amounts of natural resources under their grounds which the rest of the world can't do without, but look at the other muslim countries that don't have such like
Bangladesh, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman etc and see how poor and radical those societies are.
There is a reason the developed countries are crying for liberation and Human Rights in these countries.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by donjazet(m):
I assure you, these are not happy memories I am recalling. Then, not once did it occur to me to try my best to rationalize the gays and their acts. My total conviction was that this was a sin against God.

It would be much later after secondary school, after I had gained a certain exposure to the world at large and developed a curious mind that I would begin to try to understand this unique human biological and psychological phenomenon.

Before, I used to think it was only America that allowed gay freedom, I was quick to jump upon the band wagon in labelling them the country of zero moral standards and a country that has "sold it's soul to the devil" and all other negative euphemisms attached.

But when I learnt that they were more than 50 countries that embraced these individuals, it really did a number on me, that was when I started to seriously look into the causes of homosexuality and it's impact on the society.

As an avid researcher, I studied this issue very well and made some discoveries.

First of all, homosexuality is almost as old as man, almost every single religion that has written texts have made mention of this group. A lot of historical cultures also record homosexuality contents, meaning that this is not something that is just learned. Some ancient cultures viewed it favourably, while many viewed it negatively.

However, these group have persisted.
Some biologists and genealogists have published reports that postulates that there is an existence of a gay gene. That people do not choose their sexual orientation.

That sometimes it might be recessive or dormant and sometimes it is triggered by external factors.
Some neurologists assert that homosexuality is a function of the brain. That gay people have a slightly different anatomical structure than their straight counterparts.

I don't know for a fact whether these claims are true or false, but what I now know for a fact is that gay people are as normal as can be. It is not shown in the face.
There are millions of men around the world who meet their fellow men and develop an emotional connection with them and both of them live just the same lives as their straight counterparts.
But the most important thing about this is that, it shouldn't be anybody's business what two people choose to do in their bedroom so far as there is consent.

I have learnt this lesson now. People condemn gay's purely on religious grounds and that is just pure bullshit.

No government should have to legislate on the personal private life of people. If you are jailing gays, who exactly will it help? I can't understand the rational behind jailing gay's.
When i became aware of all these and broadened my horizons on this, I felt soo terrible for my past actions, I thought about the physical and psychological damage I had inflicted upon a lot of people from my past. I started reaching out to some via social media and apologising profusely, seeking their forgiveness. I can't start narrating that experience here but it was very interesting and complicated.

Some were now married, some were really happy to find someone they could confide in. The boy who I narrated about our encounter is now in Canada and has become a gay activist. I was surprised to learn he had done an interview with a major media outlet on the plight of LGBTQ in Africa.

When raumdeuter recently accused me of being gay, it was so sudden and unexpected, I guess it triggered a sort of great guilt and fear in me because of my ill treatment towards others on this. Even though, I had longed since accepted these people, I found myself on the defensive purely on the basis of fear and guilt. cheesy
The guilt of my past actions towards gay people and The fear that total strangers online would hate me for "being" gay.

When I made the statement; "I'm in my house, come and beat me". People didn't really understand that comment but that was me being literal.

Anyways, izzuo, I have gone through this great length, literally, to point out that we are in an unforgiving society, one which is shaped by our divisive religious beliefs.
I even remember that you were one of those who began to laugh at me when raumdeuter called me gay. That is your judgemental mind at work.

Moreso, the fact that Dayo would think that the only way he could insult me was by calling me gay attests to the mentality spoken of here. So it's a very fallacious statement to make that nobody cares if you are gay here when people are burnt to death when found out in our country.

I have told you that religion has created a dysfunctional society where everyone is judgemental, pretentious, suspicious and hypocritical of each other.

I mean, Nigeria is a country that criminalizes gay people that is if you are not beaten to death first.
This is despite the fact that we know that there are a lot of gay people in our society who cannot dare to come out. Google recently revealed that Nigeria has the highest gay porn search in the world, tell me, is it ghosts that are searching gay porn on the internet? cheesy
You can even use your hand to see this on Google trend. Just click on this google trend list below

https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=NG&q=Gay%20porn

I will narrate my own personal experience on this issue to further buttress my point on how religion makes us intolerable and hypocritical.

I believe i have previously detailed on this thread, how i was previously a religious fanatic because of my strict religious upbringing.
Secondary school was the first time i had heard about this gay issue. Around my jss3 was the first time I heard that 2 boys were caught having sex with themselves in the store, because of my popular standing in my set and the fact say I grab as I been dey gym, my friend who had caught them believed my participation in "blending" the guys would be necessary. I was secretly taken to the spot where the "blending" was to take place.

At first, when going, I actually thought it would be a fun affair because i hadn't thoughtfully processed much about the issue yet. when I first got to the site, there were about 5 of us with the 2 victims.

These guys looked very scared and was pleading with us that it was the "devil that took over them". Now it turned out that one of them had already been caught before in this same act with a different person before and one of the guys with us there had already beaten this victim too, so when he pointed this out, one guy slapped him and from there the beating started, we flogged them with belt, with cane and with wood. By the time we were done, these boys had sustained some visible injuries.

Now to my own part in this, seeing that this was my first time partaking in such brutality (although minimally), I questioned myself assiduously as to whether what I just did was right. Something significant happened after we beat these boys, they asked us if we were going to tell anybody and my friend assured them that we wouldn't tell on them and they THANKED us.
This was the part that left a strong impression on me because this kinda made me feel that even the victims believed that by beating them mercilessly, in so far as we didn't tell on them was the right thing to do and that they accepted the punishment.

So I later called one of the guys aside to hear personally from him and understand why he will engage in such acts. This was the guy who had been caught for the second time and he divulged to me that he had a neighbor who was his friend at home and that his friend introduced him to the act. That he had known his friend for a long time since they were kids and one day his friend kissed him and started handling his privates. I asked him, didn't he know he was sinning against God? He told me that he felt like he couldn't help it, that he would actually feel very guilty after this and go to confession(a catholic ritual of penance) but the truth was that he enjoyed the company of the guy whenever he was close to him.

Now mind you, this was in jss3, I was about 13 or 14 years old and at that point, I myself was still a naive virgin, because of my strict religious upbringing cheesy.
So all this was quite overwhelming for me and the more he kept narrating his story at my urging, the more I got offended about it. First of all, I didn't even understand the scenario he was describing or what kind of "enjoyment" he was describing but I just believed it was a sin and my conviction on this grew upon this premise.

After this I cautioned him and recommended he started a 9 days novena(a catholic form of prayer) to "cleanse his soul" and "purify his body, the temple of the Holy Spirit".

About six months later, during our 2nd term in ss1, this same boy would be caught again and once again would be blended. At this point, it was now so normal for me and my friends to be beating the gays caught, once anybody was caught, my friends and I would be the first called upon to beat them. I became sort of a militant anti-gay enforcer. I believed that I was doing the right thing for God. That we were literally beating away the gay. After beating them, I would carry them to the chapel and pray for them and make sure they begin their novena.

I told myself that I was doing the right thing. They were some repeat offenders that we would beat till they fainted and even when they went to the clinic, they couldn't report because they knew they faced expulsion and worst still, they genuinely believed we were helping them by not reporting them and just beating them.

Now, looking back, the surprising thing about this is that, at this point almost everyone in our set knew the prominent gay's, people joked about these things openly, even those who we beat earlier knew what they were. The only rule simply seemed to be; don't be caught in the act.

But it was an open secret that there were a lot of gays in the school. I would later become the SP of my school and call for some reforms like expanding and demacating the bathrooms, increased student security watch and patrol and a holistic approach to spiritual reformation for those caught.

Stop exposing your ignorance online. Don't proffer opinions on issues which you don't have a firm grasp on.

Go and study about anti-semitism and see how the Catholics which was the central tenet of Christians for millennia persecuted, discriminated, segregated and tortured the jews for thousands of years.

Many Christians till today still hate the jews because of their belief in the fact that the jews killed Jesus Christ.

Go and read up on the reason pope Gregory later added the verse in the gospel that says "let his sins be on our head and upon That of our children" in Jesus's persecution story. This particular verse was added to the Bible much later to justify the church's action against the jews.

You are talking rubbish when you say Hitler wasnt a friend of the church. As a matter of fact, during ww2, some jews ran into churches to seek shelter and persecution from the Nazi's only for the priests to hand these people over to the nazis to be sent to the concentration camps.

The Catholic Church is the root of anti-semitism.
Like I said earlier, have a firm grasp on an issue before proffering your opinions in order to avoid misinformation.
Go and brush up on your history.

I gave you instances of the kind of backwards mentality the common citizens of our society possess because of religion.

Our religious beliefs is the main reason we choose to pretend like these things aren't happening.

Because a majority of our population identify as Christians or Moslems, religions which outrightly forbids those two things, we can't solve these societal problems.

Religion forbids sex before marriage, but since man is an advanced animal that is biologically and genetically engineered to have sex without an impulse towards reproduction, we feel guilty when we do what our body was programmed to stand we can't even talk about it openly.

But I ask you; what about the terrible parts and laws of the Bible?
What about the part that says rapists must marry their victims? or the parts that encourages slavery( a part used by Christians to justify slavery)?, the part that commands the killings of unbelievers.
The parts that promote bloodshed and violence?

Religion promotes nepotism and fosters disunity in our society.

When we say that religion is one of the major problems in our society, you guys automatically think only towards the government. As if it is not human beings extracted from our society that constitutes the government.

When we say religion is one of the basic problem we have in our society, we are talking about how religion affects the basic social, psychological and mental makeup of it's citizens.

Religion twists the mindset and judgement of its citizens negatively hence you have a very dysfunctional society. You have a society of judgemental hypocrites.

For instance, IN our country, we can't even entertain the idea of legal abortion, but we have millions of girls who have carried out illegal and dangerous abortions.
We live in a country where virgins before marriage is almost nonexistent, where guys and girls start having sex (which is a natural biological impulse) once they have attained puberty and rather than the society being very open about sex and it's after effects, everybody chooses to turn a blind eye to this social dilemma.
Nobody talks about sex education in the schools or thinks of legislating safe abortion methods.

Instead, we delude ourselves that we have a higher moral standard than the societies that chose to be open to these ideas and face it head on.

You are indeed making my point for me.
For centuries, the Bible was the governing rulebook for most parts of the world and this bred anarchy in the world until man learnt to separate the church from the state.

As a matter of fact, the fact that we are now more progressive as a society in terms of our laws is because we have started abandoning religion en-masse.

I mean, you only need to look at the Bible and Quran and see the vast inhumane atrocities that are being commanded.

Most wars in the history of human kind were fought on the basis of religion. This is because the adherents truly believed they were fighting for God.

Look around you today and you realize that those pulling us backwards are the religious folks.
Till today, the hard core unashamed racists are majorly the white conservative Christians in rural America.

The countries that we regard as backwards are those where the ultra religious have a preponderance over others. Places, where women are not allowed to shake other men's hands, places where women are regarded as purely inferior to men, places where gay people are legally lynched and murdered, places where even certain foods are abhorred.

All these backward rules are as a result of religious beliefs. That is why i keep campaigning hard for religion to be eradicated from our society so as to accelerate our human development both socially and psychologically.
