Ibime what do you think about this proposal to defund the police departments that is gaining steam and focus more on community policing.

A lot of people think it is a terrible idea but it seems it has been successful in places where it was done before eg. Camden.

Moreso, in Nigeria here, almost all towns and cities rely on their local vigilantes for security, this vigilantes patrol the areas every night and know most occupants of each house hence easily knowing the perpetrators of problems in the neighborhoods and have varying degrees of success in their security efforts.

This also exists in pockets of areas in the USA too.

So do you think it is a viable path forward?

You and who return to where?

Even with racism, average black man in yankee still lives a better life thank his counterpart in Yankee
Nobody is going back to no fatherland anything.
Now here's my position - you've heard it from the guy realblocboy posted, you've heard it from ibime: in UK, getting a white collar job as a black professional is still a challenge. Getting into the boardrooms as a black man is still a challenge. Getting a coaching job as UCL champions winner with multiple England caps is still a challenge.

This would be exactly the same case in America today....if they did not have guns

That's the real Koko here. All their protests have been against police brutality, against the militarisation of police, against police shooting first and asking questions last.

But when police work in a country where every 100 people has 120 legal guns and only God knows how many illegal, how can anyone realistically expect the police to stop shooting?
Whether the suspect of armed or not is irrelevant, as long as there is a reasonable suspicion that the guy has a gun.

The stupid country even lets people legally carry concealed weapons ffs. As long as this is in place, no right thinking police man will approach any incident without being ready to pull the trigger.....which is convenient for the racist cops.

When you don't have police brutality and high numbers of civilian owned guns to deal with, the kind of protest you see is the type we're seeing in UK.
Somebody went and saw statue of somebody who died 300 years ago, and pushed it inside the river - OK cool, but how does that help you get a job? How does that help you from being overlooked for promotion?
If you look at the Bristol video, most of the people rolling that statue into the water were White. They will tell you they are not racist, they have black friends, they pushed a statue inside a river....and they will tell you all this, whilst denying you a job, whilst not inviting you to interview because of the name on your CV, and whilst overlooking you for a promotion.

And that's my beef with protests.
Once again, I think we are in agreement that racism is a problem of the mentality.
You have pointed out that in the UK, it is more subtle than in America, the difference is the fact that gun is legal in the USA, hence the propensity for more dangerous and pronounced forms of racism.
I agree with you on this. These are very valid points.

But as usual, our differences lie in the solution to eradicating this menace called racism.
I am yet to understand your suggestion for a solution to permanently end racism globally.
At least i have presented a blue print as to how racism can end, you are yet to do that.
You keep pointing out that "blacks have to pull together" and i keep telling you that that statement is very vague. I have countered your statement by pointing out that blacks have already been pulling together for decades and have already succeeded tremendously in their goal for equality over the decades, things are much better now than they were 50 years ago, when blacks couldn't even be voted into public offices.

I have pointed out firmly that only with time can this problem be solved since it is a problem of mentality. With time, this insane notion that a race is better than another race will be shed, we only have to keep on creating awareness towards the situation, hence my support in protests.

I hope Donjazet read this. This is another guy saying exactly what I was talking about regarding UK racism.

You can't fight this type with protest because these ones are stood right next to you holding placard.
Both of us have an agreement here seeing as i have always argued that racism is a global problem that comes in various forms around the various regions of the world.

I have been pointing out that it is not a problem that will have a simple or vague solution because it is a problem of MENTALITY from other races. I just posted a picture of two innocent looking young girls that had their own personal black "pet" in Congo.

Those girls will grow up believing that black people are inferior in all ways to white people.

As I suggested earlier, African countries need to unite and grow their economies to a very strong position. The potential is obviously there with our vast natural and human resources.

This solves two problems, first, the African continent would then be in a strong position to condemn and push back such rancid mentality.

Secondly, black people who are victims of racism can boldly and safely return to their fatherland from which they were forced away.

In the main time, all forms of racism and segregation need to be protested against and the black people need to unanimously support all these efforts.

You don't have a point here.

Your whole point comes down to the issue of credibility. We don't have credible institutions or systems in place to checkmate crimes in our society and we have ourselves to blame for that.

Institutions like the FBI and Interpol have a rich history of credibility or checkmating crimes unlike any other anti-crime body that is why these two are respected internationally.

As for your claim that other white countries don't easily accept the FBI or Interpol, that is a fat lie. Take a powerful body like FIFA and see how the FBI rightly dismantled its corrupt leadership from head to toe.

Or the numerous convictions the Interpol have secured upon some crime syndicates in the USA.

If the efcc had built up a credible reputation and successfully cleansed corruption from Nigeria or Africa as a whole by securing convictions for the obviously corrupt elite, international bodies will accord it and by extension the country its much needed respect.

You can't be blaming the FBI for our own incompetence.

My friend stop jumping from pillar to post. I never abused you, I said you are chatting rubbish (which you were).

You jumped from claiming British Govt is shielding Deizani (false), to claiming they are shielding Shell (false).

Nigerian Govt is the one shielding Shell and is the one responsible for making and enforcing Nigerian Environmental Laws, not British Govt. Nigerian Govt is not only negligent in Environmental enforcement, but is responsible for numerous human rights abuse of indigenous people who complain about Environmental degradation. The Land Use Act of 1978 allows them to just steal your land, explore on it, pollute it and you get no partnership in the proceeds. It was specifically designed to steal Niger Delta people's land without recompense. Nigeria killed SaroWiwa and the Ogoni 9, and guess what, it is in European Courts that those families have been able to get some millions in compensation from Shell for their part in the Ogoni troubles, whilst Nigeria who actually killed them are yet to pay a penny to those families. BTW, Ogoni are not the only ones suffering from environmental abuse, we are all suffering and Nigerian Govt whose responsibility it is to to make and enforce these laws just allow a free for all, and are 50-50 partners in any venture. And yet, you are here blaming Britain and the White man as usual.

In comparison to our Banana Republics, we can at least take some solace in the fact that the International Community is willing to listen to Indigenous tribes on human rights and environmental issues despite our Home Govts not only propagating the abuse but killing those who speak. Let me ask you now, since Jair Bolsanaro allowed anyone to go logging in the Amazon and mine anyhow and abuse Brazilian environment, is it British Govts responsibility to go after any British logging company in Brazil who are simply abiding by the law of the land?

From there, you then jumped from pillar to another post talking about our leaders hiding money in Cayman Islands. Are you not aware there are Cayman Islands are autonomous and make their own Trust laws and are blacklisted by the EU, with Britain and Yankee having to constantly arm-twist them into signing deals aimed at disclosure of their citizens hiding savings there. Are you not aware that these small countries compete for investment by slashing tax to almost zero, and there are dozens of tax havens where Nigerians and others hide money and have nothing to do with Britain or the "white man" you like to blame including Panama, Fiji, Samoa, Oman, Palau, Seychelles etc and hundred of other tax havens including Monaco, Luxembourg, Palau, Antigua and most small Carribean Nations and even the so called Dubai where our leaders now like stashing their money when they saw what happened to Ibori and Abacha loot. I can buy a small country today and make it a tax haven if I want and Donjazet will still be blaming Britain for it.

DonJ if you want, I can personally get some of my guys to set up Shell Companies for you in Marshall Islands, and I have consulted for companies incorporated there before. Those people are aboriginal people. I hope you won't blame Australia in your unending cause to blame Oyinbo for every woe, just like you left Nigeria who never signed extradition request for Deizani to blame Britain who are still waiting on Naija.

And I don't need to watch your documentary. Where you are today, I have been 12-20 years ago, and am well informed on Colonial and Corporate abuses of Africans. You will think an older person does not have knowledge because they are not interested in you pushing your leftist persecution complex all the time, but like someone said a young man who is not a Socialist is heartless, but an older man who is still a socialist is stüpid. Don't think you are telling me anything new just cos you are reading today what I've absorbed and processed 15 years ago, and no longer interested in.
Wow! I don't know where to begin to address this, but know this, I am highly bemused by the sheer grandiosity, arrogance and superiority complex corralled in this vicious diatribe.
It seems like once some of you go outside the country, you automatically assume a superiority mental complex against those still in Nigeria.

Beyond this forum, you do not know me and I do not know you, you don't know my career or my place of work so what the fuck_ gives you the right to assume that you are more knowledgeable than I am or anyone still here in Nigeria?

I posted a documentary that gave good insights into how Britain is used as a vehicle for global money laundering, also highlighting the strategic role British common wealth dominions like the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, british Virgin Islands etc plays in laundering money for corrupt entities globally, only for you to dismiss it arrogantly because you believe you already know it all.

You claim to say you know about British colonial and corporate abuses but you also think they have ended? Such shallowness.

You are talking about Nigerian laws as if you are not aware that Britain still has influences on our law making especially concerning anything that does with our oil.

Read up on the formation of NNPC and the partnership agreements with Shell. Our refineries were built by shell. Read up on the allocation of oil wells to shell, I don't need to teach you these things.

You are extremely naive if you think Britain via Shell doesn't still influence Nigerian politics.

Lastly, I don't know why you would foolishly think i have a persecution complex or whatever that means. That I criticize racism or racists does not mean i hate all white men. You are very myopic if that was what you could deduce from my postulations on racism.

I do recognize that there are racist white people abroad but I also know that there are a lot of good and kindhearted white people. I mean I admire their organizations and their progressive mentality, so stop assuming I blame all white people for all the problems.

read up these links and further enlighten yourself on money laundering in the UK and stop arrogantly assuming it is non existent.

For clarification of my thought on this, I know that our leaders here are morbidly corrupt but I also know that Britain influences these corruption.

Deiziani Allison was able to hide in London for years despite being known as a behemoth of corruption.

Till date, Nigeria is the only country that is unable to get adequate compensation for the oil spill and environmental damage done in our lands by shell.

Then Ibime Countered :

What are you talking about? Deizani has been in London because there was no arrest request from GoodLuck. The minute Buhari put in request, she was arrested. Her assets in UK have been seized and awaiting solid evidence from EFCC and was still waiting for extradition request from Nigeria which Nigerias Attorney General refused to sign (maybe because they know Deizani is more likely to face better Justice in UK ala Ibori - unlike Nigeria where she can buy judgement). Your country never signed any extradition request, hasn't provided solid evidence, and you are here blaming the white man as usual.

Your fellow black man from Dominica even sold her diplomatic passport for a $2m property in New York to sheild her from prosecution and personally handed it to her but na white man you dey blame. Do you know how easy it would be for Nigeria to put pressure on the small island of Dominica (population 72,000) whether directly or via Caribbean Free Trade Association or Britain or US to cancel her envoyship and thus end her immunity? Na just to dey rant for newspaper like EFCC usually do.

What happened to Ibori when Nigeria requested he be dealt with?

Keep blaming Britain for your own incompetence. You think Britain will shield any thief that Nigeria is serious about. On the contrary, it is Nigeria that will be shielding it's own thieves like Buruji Kashamu from extradition abroad. There is a thief USA has been looking for, and Nigeria refusing to extradite.

At this point I expect Donjazet to either retract his claim that Britain was Shielding Deizani or tear to shreds Ibime's claim that Naija was the one delaying Diezani's extradition since all these years( Since this was the koko of the discuss)

But I don't know how Deiziani disappeared from the discuss and Donjazet's next post was :

it seems to me like you are boldly affirming that the British government doesn't encourage and aid corruption in Africa, if so that is a big lie my brother.

As a matter of fact, there is a reason Britain is called the world's headquarters of finance.
Incase you don't know Britain uses its dominions like the Cayman Islands and the rest to launder dirty money from the globe.

Britain is the world's headquarters for money laundering, from Russian oligarchs to South American drug cartels, to corrupt African government officials.
Watch this video below and see for yourself the corrupt entity called Britain.

As a matter of fact, you need to go and read up the deadly history of shell oil in Nigeria and its role in all the governments of Nigeria since the discovery of oil in Nigeria.
You clearly didn't understand the discourse else you wouldn't post this nonsense.

You can see from my first post which you quoted that I made 3 points.

1. That diezani was hiding in London for a long time despite being corrupt.

2. That the British government influences corruption in african governments.

3. That Nigeria has not received adequate compensation for the oil spill damage caused by Shell in the Niger delta.

He addressed the first issue and I accepted his stance because I intended to check up on the issue later, he then went further to defend the British government and it's role in Africa which I vehemently opposed.

He seemed to be white washing Britain's dark history here and falsely thought that I was blaming only Britain for corruption.

So you can see how the discussion evolved from deiziani to British corruption.

Please read and understand accurately before making these kind of summations.

Guy, you are just chatting rubbish with emotions and devoid of facts. If a country wants to go after any individual, it is up to them to request extradition or provide solid evidence so that the other country can prosecute like we did for Ibori.

You are sitting in a country with thousands of known thieves roaming free and buying judgements even when caught red-handed, yet pointing fingers at Britain for Deizani who you have not provided extradition request for, despite the fact they helped you arrest her and seize her assets pending investigation.

If you have evidence, Britain will convict. This is not a Banana Republic.

Just ranting about Shell. Does Nigerian Govt have any problem with Shell who are it's partners and have they brought any suit against Shell? Any suit against Shell is a human rights issue not a Govt request and BTW, Shell was asked by European Courts to pay some millions to SaroWiwa family. You think it's easy for an indigenous group to bring Corporate suit against a multinational where the Govt in that country do not support their claim and are in fact actively opposed to any suit against Shell.

Go read what British Courts did to BAE systems who they found to be bribing Saudi Govt to buy their weapons.

You just ranting emotionally with no cognisance of facts.
There it is, you have reduced the argument to name-calling, abuse and insults.
I will not go down that path with you seeing as you are one of the guys I truly respect here. Although, i am very disappointed that you would resort to abuse in the face of a contrary opinion and facts.

I am not saying that Nigeria or other African countries are not corrupt, I would be foolish to not point out our morbidly corrupt leaders, however I am pointing out to you, the fact that Britain who colonized us has helped not only our leaders but other countries corrupt elements to wash their money and protect the stolen assets.

You are making it appear like Britain is a saint in these issues and that my friend is very short-sighted and worse still disappointing coming from you.

And stop thinking that i am emotionally attached to these issues, I am just a man that has broadened my horizons and put it to good use.

Anyways, seeing as you have resorted to pettiness and insults, I will no longer debate with you on this issue.

Just watch this documentary below and open your eyes.

What happened to Ibori when Nigeria requested he be dealt with?

nihilistjnr:
Racism in Argentina, Brazil or any country will never be solved unless the victims pull together

Ok how do you explain this.

1. Neymar has publicly stated that he is not black

During an interview for the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, in between a conversation about Disneyland and sports cars, he was asked if he had ever experienced racism. “Never. Not in the field, nor outside of it,” he replied.

It’s not like I’m black, you know?

2. Ronaldo De Lima identified as white in the census count. Even his own father was surprised to say ah an, my nigga you're black

That's what I mean by blacks need to pull together.

White people tend to live with white people.
Rich white people tend to live with rich white people.
Black people tend to live with black people
Rich black people tend to live with rich white people

Time will never solve anything. 400 years on some white people in America still hate blacks.

I believe you posted one video here one time about how the first prime minister was talking about how they would enforce a NOTHERN FIRST policy in the civil service at the time.

The white guy even asked him that but aren't all Nigerians equal? He said yes we all are, but notherners just get job first, and if no notherner, they hire a white man.... BEFORE they hire a southern Nigerianm

50+ years on from that interview, and the northern elite are still running the country. This is how you pull together. This is how you enforce your own will even when surrounded by ops.

I keep bringing it back to the UK. Even as black people are marching to protest racism in the country, the Indians have put 4 of their own in government. The same racist environment, but one minority are playing a game, while the other minority are playing the system.

Blacks mus pull together and work towards a common goal, otherwise 1 million years from now, don't be surprised to hear that blacks are still at the bottom of the pile everywhere.
The statement "blacks have to pull together" is very vague.
Moreso it seems to paint black people as propagators of racism.

For every Neymar, there is a Pele and George weah.
Pele and other influential black players campaigned vigorously for racism to end in football and their activism culminated in the formation of FIFA'S say no to racism global initiative which has aided in eradicating racism in sports today.

You indirectly insult black victims of racism when you start comparing them with Indians in the UK.
Have you heard of anybody killing Indians on the basis of their skin color?

Moreso, you keep bringing up Indians in politics in the UK, how about the numerous black representatives in British parliament who actually outnumber other minority groups.

Furthermore, bringing the Nigerian situation into this discourse is disingenuous at best because they are two completely different situations.

Since the colonial days, northern Nigeria has had a preponderance over all other regions till today.. As a matter of fact, a former governor general of colonial Nigeria stated that the sole reason of amalgamation was to enable the richer south feed the poorer north which they (British) controlled better.

As I have observed earlier, your entire argument on this racism issue is very vague and mired in sophistry and casuistry.

You can't keep comparing racism with other forms of human shenanigans.
I have stated previously that racism can only be resolved with time because it is a BELIEF SYSTEM.

I may hate you for your annoying actions but if you apologize for your wrong deeds, we can be best friends tomorrow, its very different when I truly believe that you were BORN with an annoying gene, that there is nothing you can do to yourself to make you less annoying, at that point, both of us and our children are bound to be enemies for life.
