saakeem2003: Hello house, Pls I wrote to KCC about the status of my form and I got this messageYour situation is rather strange to me. Did you fill the online application yourself? Also, note that Americans write their dates as mm/dd/yyyy while we follow european way of dd/mm/yyyy i.e 10th of january for an american would be 1/10 but for us would be 10/1. I hope the situation is as simple as that so that you can move ahead!! Regardless of that though, IF all your forms are in order - just keep checking for your 2NL as this exchange only means they will not answer your request for status updates which has nothing to do with processing your case. |
coax: Thanks for your kind word, from Iran.Congrats! All the best ahead! |
Tikky20: Hello! ppl. I am a DV 2013 selectee from Naija (case number AF0000148*)Though I'm new on this forum, I've been following this forum for a while now. Pls my problems are as follows;Tikky - be patient, someone who knows the correct answer to your question will answer shortly - that's how we roll on this forum! lol I just thought to chip in that you can send the corrected (and signed) forms via email - it's faster and cheaper. As per your question, I'm GUESSING it depends on how KCC handles the correction. IF they update the first one you sent (i read someone say they do that somewhere on this thread) they you should get your 2NL faster than IF they wait to receive the corrected copy. |
About the police report: 2 things - they actually specified that you should get in from your state of residence if you have stayed there for more than 6 months (i think..), so if you have filled in your ds230 that you were staying in ogun state (for example) for over 6 months, they would expect a police report/certificate from Ogun state. secondly, you can do it in any state in nigeria BUT IT HAS TO BE DONE AT THE STATE CID department/office. No other unit in the state police command can do this except the STATE CID. There, they will take your finger prints and send it to Lagos (alagbon abi ) where your certificate would be issued. Obviously you will end paying for the cost of mailing the request to Lagos and back along with the normal fee they charge at lagos (plus roger ). i did mine out of Lagos becos i don't stay in Lagos and had indicated that on form 230, and they took it. no hassles. On the medical all that needs to be said has been said. Prices of the ONLY TWO places designated are posted way back in this thread along with some words of advise temmytanny has re-echoed. Hope this helps clarifies things. |
ksjlar: Greetings to all forumites.WOW! I noticed some other immigrant visa applicants (not DV) that where being interviewed by two CO's while i was waiting to be interviewed at Lagos embassy. Turns out it was people that had been filed for -i.e, you married a citizen and he/she filed for you. The interview was very much like the your described experience - how did you meet, what his/her fathers name, where are the phone records to demonstrate that you two have been communicating, where did the wedding take place, who paid for it.... plenty, plenty questions. Each interview was averaging 20 to 30 minutes after which the two COs would discuss at length. Funny enough one was black and the other was white. I pray all goes well for you and your spouse. Keep the faith. I really have to wonder why they would cross-examine you like that!! DV interview should be strictly "NO LONG THING". |
ferdiii: How did you know ur job qualified you? I was of the belief taht in Nigeria Education qualifies one first.I checked my job description at the website they specified : http://online.onetcenter.org/ and it was classified as a job zone 4. To qualify, i needed 2 years experience within the last 5 years in a job that requires at least 2 years training is classified as a job zone 4. My job was classified as such, it required 5+x years training (where x could be equal to or summation of strikes, carry over, political stress, flood e.t.c) and i've been working for over 5 years. You are right though in my case as i had already met the minimum requirement with my O'level result. I believe that's why they opted to use my education anyway as those were the only supporting documents they asked for. But it is possible for someone not to have the educational qualification and have work experience to still qualify. In retrospect, i should have just gone with education and save myself the hassles of getting employment verification documentations since it was an either/or situation. |
Versatile007: please Uncle Don Kool, please elucidate how the interview was. Please, just truncate it. Thanks.I thot i just did that!! ![]() I'm guessing this is from an older post. |
jidedon2000@yah:Turn to Dan-goat-tey and give him a nice back hand followed immediately by full five finger (all fingers spread out)front hand slap while asking "like this?" or "like that"? |
jidex001: Nice one Bro, God bless u real good.Note that I chose to qualify with work experience. My current occupation is classified as a jobzone 4??( now that i thru i no fit readily remember! lol) CO - What do you do? me - I'm a ***** engineer with ***** company (oil and gas) CO - Since when have been working there? me - over five years now. CO - Ok. Congrats, your visa has been approved. Funny thing was that they did not collect any of my evidence of employment. just my educational certificates from ss testimonial to university cert and NYSC - Originals and photocopy (CO returned the orijos to me). I noticed some peeps believe there is a formula to it. i don't subscribe to that school of thought. it depends on what you have claimed and how well you can defend it, which in turn depends on the circumstances around the individual/family. I also believe what the COs are mostly looking for is inconsistencies in our claims and signs of insincerity in our answers. I would suggest each of us should scrutinize his/her claims and prepare a solid document based defense for every claim. Then prepare for questions based on what you have claimed to have/be. In my case, as far as i'm concerned, i merely showed up that day. I thank God for ordaining my steps to study what i did, get the job i have and win the lottery. He has been ordering my steps and keeping alive to fulfill the plan. He that did mine shall also do for those who believe in Him. Amen. |
foworola: Gentiger, not trying to pull issues here with you. However, you will agree with me that not everyone has such a family as yours, and i must say its quite impressive. that being said, i am assuming that you have not really been to see these your uncles and sometimes things are not as people perceive it to be, their mansions might not really be mansions, and again having a 8 bedroom mansion in Texas, North Carolina or Georgia doestnt mean u are super duper rich, cost of living is just lesser there but job opportunities are not so much around there. Your uncles do have children and they come first so do not rest on your oars believing you have unlimited stay at an uncle's place. EVERY MAN 4 HIMSELF!So on point!!! Already got the manual for my intended landing state!! Thanks for your very valid, accurate and helpful words of advice. |
Been gone a while. Happy Birthday in arrears Tiwanna! Wish you more and more of the Lord's goodness, blessing and mercies in your life! Thank God i missed the rofo-rofo action. i won't say anything becos the 'elders' in the house have said it all! |
In the hopes that this will help someone, here's a more descriptive rendition of my experience on interview day- (This is for Lagos, Nigeria peeps) 1. Got to the location at about quarter to nine. - depending on the nature of your character, this helps. Getting there late will put you in rush mode and may make one jittery, anxious and unsettled. There is a car park just after the embassy that charges 300 naira per car. 2. Found out that approximately 30mins to your scheduled time, the consular staff will come and call interviewees for that time e.g, if you are for 9am, by 8:30 they will come and call you. So, aim to be standing in front of the embassy at least 45minutes before your interview. 3. After being called, you'll file in to where your 2NL will be checked & collected. you'll be issued a paper indicating how much you'll pay, a slip for your contact details and card(s) to be attached to ur passport(s) (one card per passport). CO will collect the cards from you after successful interview. 4.Then, you'll go thru some stages of screening to enter the embassy. NOTE: don't take anything you don't need. they don't allow liquids, food, battery operated devices (except wrist watches and car keys), sharp objects,...the list is long! So, no ipod, ipad, walkman, scissors, or just don't bring anything you don't need. If during the three stages of screening, any contraband is found with you, you'll be sent out to step three and file in again. Moreso, you'll need somewhere safe to stash whatever it is they bounced you for i.e, phone, token.... and if you don't have a car...... Books are allowed though, so you can take one to read while waiting. 5. once inside, you pick up a tally number (note - the sequence for immigrant visa is different from non-immigrant so pick the right one) the security personnel there will guide you. 6. then you'll proceed to pay your visa fees (for DV it's $330 or its equivalent in naira per person). Payment is in cash so take the exact amount in US dollars OR equivalent in naira with plenty jara on top as you won't know the exchange rate until you get in by which time it wouldn't be wise to start coming out to look for more cash. Collect your receipt and keep it safe. CO will collect it from you. 7. then your (tally) number will be called for collection of your documents. Take all your originals with you and make a copy of everything! I feel this stage is probably the most critical. IF your documents are comprehensive enough then your interview should be smoother (just my opinion o!). I took some work documents they were not even interested to see, ... but i would rather have had them there and not need them than need them and not have them. I think this is where they collected the contact information slip we were given at entry. 8.After this, you wait for the CO to call you for interview. General notes: there are all kinds of characters around the place ranging from the dollar seller/buyer to instant passport photograph booths to even people with staplers for rent. Best bet is to arrange yourself properly BEFORE you get there. the most challenging thing there I saw while there was people who came without cars and had phones and stuff they needed to stash somewhere safe while they would be inside the embassy. some of the Mopols outside where willing to help (for a price) and some where assisting FOC. However, you should know that whatever services you require there will cost more than what you'll normally pay around your area. Overall process can span from 3 to 5 hours so eat something solid before you enter (except you are waiting on the Lord of course). |
jay92: so many forumites and jux one interview experience?wats going onBeen wondering the same thing myself!! |
dayotobi: hello every one in the house please my husband is a winner of the 2013 dv lottery program and he applied as single and we just got married in april 2012 and will fill the 2NL as married. But my concern is i lost my passport on my trip to dubai early this year and i'm just going to abuja for a new E-passport this week and it is going to be on my maiden name after the marriage certificate indicate we married April of this year. Please i want to be sure if it will not be a problem for us at the embassyJus t curious - Why get the new passport in your maiden name? |
atseyi: Which Birth Certificate did you present, Normal certificate from Birth or NPC Birth Certificate??I believe this question has been answered but since i saw it like twice: I used my original birth certificate. It had everything i needed - dob, parents name so i didn't need NPC. But like it's been rightly said, you can use either. |
brightmon: what abt Testimonial from ur skol?It was part of the package i presented. Everything from SSCE, school testimonial, nysc, B.Sc, to certificates received from training's at my work place. Una don train me WELL for this forum, i no wan come back come fall una hand. i put every every for education wey i get get give them. NOTE though: (For others like myself who are still young in DV- I know say Brightmon na resource man) - note that i did this (added nysc, BSc and work training) becos i used work experience not because i was asked to show it. For those using education, the minimum is SSCE/GCE. Amen to all those who have prayed in faith for victory and thanks to all who have posted congratulatory and well-wishing messages. |
Ibracadabra: Congratulations...Not at all. I meant - Birth certificate (or equivalent)*, marriage certificate (if applicable)*, educational certificates*, medicals and police report. * - Original plus photocopy. Don't forget your passport photographs and 2NL too. |
femsoj: am happy for u bro.pls i need to ask u 2 question.1.were u intervied in nigeria 2.do they request for avidavit of support.thanksThanks. To answer ur question, 1- yes i was interviewed in Nigeria, 2. no request for affidavit of support (no request for anything financial sef). |
Had my interview today. It was super smooth. they only asked where i was working and for how long. I was expecting smooth sailing 'cos i met the stipulated conditions (work and /or education) and all my documents were legit and in order so no shaking.. But after the interview, i realized that i had it better than i imagined and knew that it was God's hand at work. What more can i say, Baba God Noni!! All the best to the rest of us. My advice is to get all necessary documentation in place and let HIM do the rest. |
brightmon: we are on same page, its just the email that differs. All the best.Congrats seal777! Thank God for your "second" blessing. @Brightmon - You are absolutely right, one can email the forms to KCC as you described. Unfortunately, i've dont't have the email address they advise peeps to use handy here. No yawa either way, the case number is very low and DHL will get it there before friday. However, Seal777 should start reading this forum from inception. If only he/she had been following - na super smooth sailing be dat....... |
adesojiaderemi@:@vacancy- I totally agree with adessojiBUT 2005 to 2012 is quite sometime, which makes me "presume" you probably have kid(s). If so take both and explain to the CO as the matter be. If not, you don't need the islamic wedding cert. |
chyk2020: @kemzone2003. thanks so much i appreciate, i thought as much, God has given you already your heart desire. thanks once again for quick responseI suggest you also take evidence of the change of name. |
Thanks temmytanny and tiwana for clarifying the issues surrounding the full face picture. BTW tiwana, the rhetorics following your disclaimer on the already sorted issue was unnecessary. It was just a simple/straight forward request for clarification not an allusion to you or anyone for that matter. No need for drama, the forum is working fine (over efficiency dey worry am sef). Thanks again to all the contributors! |
I'm hearing of this full face picture for the first time. Can someone shed more light? Is it a 5X7 or still PP size? Plus how many copies of our documents are required? |
adzovia: slip of tongueAll join! ![]() I'm surprised by the people with low CN's that have yet to receive the 2NL. i think i saw a 3** range and I'm under 2K! I believe if your CN is less that 5000 (not a precise figure 'cos i did not have to reference the bulletin) and YOU RETURNED THE DS 230 AND DSP122 TO KCC B4 JULY, you should have your 2NL. If not, then there are 3 possibilities, You are in the next batch (this month's bulletin) or, You don't know how to check for the 2NL or, KCC has disqualified you for some reason. It's also possible that folks are just mistyping their CN range!!! |
brightmon: 10am? Thats strange. I have only seen 7am ohh. House, any 10am?I'm a 10am too. |
Kemzone2003: it will simply be an e-mail:Thanks Kemzone2003. It came in this evening. Here's wishing all selectee's the best ahead (though we all need to keep in mind that fortune favours the prepared & God favours all those who diligently serve and obey him). |
adzovia: from Ghana my case number is 000007**Hi, Please how did you get your second notification letter? Was it by mail or from the DV entrant status check site? |
Can someone please clarify the second notification letter issue? Is it going to mailed to the address on the DSP 122 or are we going to see it online via the entrant status check site? Thanks in advance! |

) where your certificate would be issued. Obviously you will end paying for the cost of mailing the request to Lagos and back along with the normal fee they charge at lagos (plus roger
