Congratulations to all those who have had their interviews! It's been a while since i visited and it's quite nice to see so all the success stories/testimonies. For the Bros who DV 'has not yet been approved', keep the faith. I'm surprised (not in a pleasant way too) that this issue of personal attacks and insults is re-occurring on this forum again at this time!! I've tried to stay out of it so as not to inadvertently end up 'adding fuel' to a raging matter which is based on people's personal opinions and in some cases, irrefutable facts. However, they say evil thrives because good people stand back and do nothing...., so this is me, attempting to be a 'good person' and 'doing something'. To ALL concerned - as this is a public forum that that many people come to ask, share and exchange ideas. To expect everybody on the forum to accept one's personal view/opinion/ideas & suggestion is unreasonable. @Gentiger - Your jibes are uncalled for. Your claim to not have anyone in mind when you alluded to 'an omission of a prominent name' is both an insult to my intelligence and also a cowardly approach to insulting someone (whom only you and God knows). At least have the courage to say what's on your mind IF YOU MUST. Also, insulting people and then and stating on the last line of the post that it's just a joke does not make it a joke. It only makes it a futile attempt (a poor excuse for an attempt at that) to be smart. You initiated this last quagmire of attack/counter attacks, that's for sure and it's fascinating to see that you expect the readers to decide 'who won'! It's not a game or competition my 'self professed christian brother'!! Or how many souls have your posts/insults and attacks won for the kingdom of God? @Temmytanny - Not sure what to say to you. words have flown and both parties are guilty of that. I know 'you (soon to be we ) americans' have a right to defend (y)ourselves and that's cool, but please try and be the 'bigger man' by letting this episode close.Time and facts have vindicated most (or is it all) of your positions on the core contentious issues. To all those calling for peace in the house, well done - it's not easy. HOWEVER, it is a fact that if you cut grass/weed, it'll eventually grow back. the trick is to uproot the weed/grass from it's roots and then have peace. For the benefit of those yet to get what i benefited from this site and ALL the good people on this forum, let's address the root causes of the issues when they come up and desist from taking things to a personal level. ALWAYS remember the reason why we are all here - to HELP AND GET HELP. |
seal777: .LWKMD!!!! Congrats @gunners4u. God that gave you this victory will see you through to your destination. |
jay92: co.r u marriedCongrats jay92. Wish you all the best ahead. |
usef83: plsssss,its der a need for a children like 3years to do a medical n police report..thank u ..NO. |
Congrats malcon. |
Congrats to @bobshina and @Godcherisher. All the best ahead. |
adesojiaderemi@:Different strokes for different folks. However, (s)he can always choose to go back HOME! |
adzovia: it is not all lawyers that are great. the guy just needed a second opinion you know how it is when one is worriedTrue and very understandable, however the quality of help one would get is directly proportional to the quality of info available to the helper. I don't see any harm done anyway. Based on @Kemzone2003's responses and references at least @bet123 can rule out what does not apply to his/her case. The way I saw it, the conclusion was based on deductive reasoning using available info and not an attempt to discourage or disparage him/her. @bet123 - They know you've been there so no need to try and hide that. My advice, come clean WHEN/IF asked especially since you later said you complied by leaving willingly. Good luck! @Kemzone2003 - Being a while. Been waiting to send your congratulations.... . I like the way you research/dig up referable materials on issues. it's very , em.. what's the word? diligent? insightful? resourceful?? ... can't put my finger on the right word now...Anyway, keep it up. i look to be that studious when i start my masters. ![]() |
@femo:congrats to your friend then. It's only the principal applicant credentials they are interested in. So, no issues here. |
afobat2000: Hello ile pls help me with this 2weeks or 1month old baby will pay for visa fee?Yes, you will have to pay $330 for your baby. You interview date will depend on when you sent back your forms to KCC and of course the monthly bulletin. if you sent your forms back on time, i think you should be current for January. I'm not sure, i've gotten my visa and hence don't bother with the bulletin anymore. someone in the house please help here! You should inform KCC of the addition of a new derivative (your child) by completing a new DS 230 and sending it to them. Use email to send it along with his passport photographs. it will be cheaper and faster. what i'm not sure of is if you'll need to get a passport for your child or if he can travel on the mother's passport. i think they have stopped allowing that due to child trafficking issues - I could be wrong as i don't know that for a fact. I suggest you call KCC and clarify this with them. |
nigga_guy: Hi , This house has been so helpful.Congrats! I join you in thanking God for seeing you through. Safe journey O! and all the best ahead. |
Rolling_138: Congratulations to all that have been successful in their Visa interview and may God grant those of us that are yet to go for our visa interview success too.in support of foworola has said: 3.Police reports - You can also get your police certificate from your state of residence. just go the state CID office and they'll take your prints and send to Alagbon who will issue you your certificate. Give some time for the sending to/fro lagos while keeping in mind the certificate is valid for three months. Medical - ideally takes 3 working days. (let's assume a worst case scenario of four working days) 4.Not a conclusive list - birth certificate(s), marriage certificate, police, medical, passport (valid for at least 6 months), 2 passport photographs. 5.Don't think so. However, they give priority to families with infants so hopefully, you wouldn't spend too much time there. |
adzovia: congratulations. i pray there shall be no disappointment on this forum everyone will go through successfullyAmen and Amen! |
atseyi: Had my Interview today! Thanks to you guys, u are all wonderful....Congratulations!! Wish you all the best ahead. |
brightmon: House, i just finished my interview few hrs ago and what do you all expect.Congrats!! Been a while since we saw you around here, what better way to return but with good news? |
nigga_guy: My advise is for you to renew your passport. Becos your passport should not expire 9 months before you get into the U.S.Anyway u have the following options1.ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAPLE THE ePASSPORT!!! YOU COULD RUIN IT!! IF YOU HAVE EVER GOTTEN ONE, THAT'S AMONGST THE FIRST THINGS THEY WILL WARN YOU AGAINST. If you need to attach it to an older passport, use rubber bands to hold the covers together. 2. The instructions regarding the minimum validity of your passport to bring to the embassy are quite explicit. i'ld rather comply and visit the embassy once than be sent back to go get a new passport. |
ienny: Hmmm, really do not know how to go about diz. I av d Epassport, any attempt to wanna get a new one will definately be questioned. Xcept i claim i lost it or come up wit watever story dats not true anyway.Am kinda worried now even tho i tot b4 now dat i wud xplain to d co if he/she raises an eyebrow on it. Meanwhile i fink is bera to play safe. Pls kindly giv me options on wat to do exactly as am current in december. Thanks in advanceNo need for stories. Just ask for a new passport and tell them that you need it to get a visa that requires a passport validity of more the six months. There will be no issues. they'll give you anew one and stamp the old one "cancelled without prejudice". However, be advised that you can only re-new/replace the ePassport in Abuja (For those of us in naija). |
jidedon2000@yah:Yes she can. Her notification of result plus NYSC certificate should suffice. It would be NICE or BETTER to have her certificate but with those two she'll be fine. Just curious, which school would refuse to give transcript since 2009 Or perhaps you meant certificate?Transcript collection shouldn't take more than 3 weeks at first issuance and then a day or two for subsequent requests as the info on it does not change (just the send to address changes). If i wanted my transcript today, i'ld get it by Tuesday afternoon latest even without physically showing up in my alma mater!! |
ksjlar: Hello Guys,Congrats ksjlar! All the best ahead. |
adzovia: this issue is simple some people in Africa this days live with men they are not married to. everyone sees it as marriage maybe because the lady got pregnant for you. i believe you should explain to the co. this people are human beings and they understand issues explain to your co and pray. remember always tell the truth that is all they wantMen and women living together and bearing children does not constitute a legal marriage (at least not in naija). So, if they do check, they would expect a marriage certificate from him or a divorce certificate or a death certificate (God forbid)! IF it were me in his shoes, i would TELL THE TRUTH! (after all, it was fibbing that led to this predicament in the first place). IF he chooses not to do that, be careful not to appear to desperate. Desperation usually is a kill joy in situations like this. my 2 cents on the matter. |
Teetopic: Pls house,ar dey not selecting second batch again? As i understand it, the answer to that question rest on a small exercise in statistics/probability. 1. You calculate the percentage of visa that nigeria is entitled to (is it max 6% of the 55,000 )2. Then, you start monitoring how many selectees have submitted dsp122 to KCC becos - since they select more than the available number of visas, the second selection will be determined by the response of selectees. The less the number of response from selectees, the more the chances of a second draw. I believe they will BUT the thing to do now for everybody is to apply for DV-2014. It wouldn't affect your consideration for a second draw in DV-2013 at all and while the 2nd draw can happen anytime, registration for DV-2014 will be closing soon. |
babbs45: This is what you get messing with Gentiger. Lol.Says a lot about you and Gentiger for those who know the background to that statement and have the insight to read between the lines. |
@Adzovia - Congrats! All the best ahead. By my reckoning, after prayer the next critical requirement for sailing smoothly through the interview is documentation. @Adesojiaderemi - the answer to your question is obvious when you look at the second question she was asked...... |
nihho: nihho: pleaseYour notification number range is not clear. Is it 810***? (eighty one thousand range?) or 810**. (eight thousand one hundred range?). You will get an email informing you to check through the same website and method you saw your 1NL. The only difference is that instead of the 1NL, you'll see your 2NL. |
Ibracadabra: Good day folks... I'm planning a trip to Lagos- so I have my medicals and do d police report there. Because I don't live there, I'm making inquiries from some of you about a few things so I plan my trip well. My interview is in 4 weeks from now. I want to know how long (on d average) it takes to get d medicals and police report done... If I go to lag 2 weeks to my interview, would it b too late to get everything (medicals n police report) done in time? Or is it advisable to just go now... Making two trips would tell on me financially- so I'm trying to- proverbially speaking- kill 2 birds with a single stone...Consider this also - your medical is valid for 6 months, so you have 6 months from it date of issue to leave for the US, IF not you'll need to repeat it. Aside from this fact, my belief is the earlier the better. I did my police report in Rivers state and it came back within a week though they had said it would take two weeks. (the point of whether to do it in lagos or where u r staying depends on the individual becos even though you'll still have to go to Lagos for the medicals, if one was staying in like Kano and low on bucks, then the convenience of doing it close to home will be a factor i guess) Medicals is three days (@the consultant practice ikoyi). You appear first day for the test and comeback two days later for the result. |
Larissa2x: Hi, pls does any one know if we have to pay the visa application fee in Dollars or if we can pay in the currency of the country we are having the interview in (the UK, in my case)? In nigeria, we have the option of paying in dollars or the equivalent in naira. You could try calling the embassy (US embassy in UK) and asking to be absolutely sure. |
dayotobi: she has all her document i.e her RN certificate and o-level certificate in her maiden name and she use to have a passport before we married on her maiden name so when we went for the new passport we thought it is going to read that it is re-issued with the date of first issue of the lost one but no, the new passport read the date it was given with no reference to the old oneI can't really remember what the question was on this and i'm mindful of my comments lest i pry into personal affairs but In the spirit of nairaland forum brotherliness, please do not be offended if my post starts bordering on "aproko", i have the best of intentions. Your explanation above still does not answer the question. It is expected that after marriage, she (the lovely blushing bride) would do a formal change of name with newspaper publication (which usually contains "all documents remain valid" or something like that) and then start bearing her marital name. Hence, her new passport should by right be in her marital name regardless of any other thing. Then she can use her old documents and the change of name notification and she's good to go. Even banks accept this and will change customers account name if one so desires. Anyhow, i think the concern i had in mind was not to appear to the CO to be claiming to be married (a couple with different surnames on their passport) so as to benefit from a DV selectee. Apologies if i assumed anything wrongly, this question was from awhile back. Cheers. |
adzovia: you are qualified with work experience. cause the eligibility is either 5 credits in ssce or 2 years work experience which you have. my advice is prepare well to answer about your work and bring enough evidence like payslips or bank statements.Did you check the classification of his job? As i understand it, it's not every job that qualifies o. |
Kemzone2003: Found it! I suggest you compliment the author's effort by also calling the clinic you plan to visit for more info 'cos i seem to remember the pneumococal costing like 25K! |
jidex001: Those 28500naira, include immunization record ?? Don Kool: @ the children place ikoyi-Guess he has included it though like i said, depends on what types of shots (if any) they ask you to take. I'm scanning thru old post 'cos i know there were some quality info on this back then: |
jidedon2000@yah:I meant a record of the immunization shots you have taken to-date. In the medicals, they will take your blood, take x-ray of your chest (adults only - mantux test for kids), check your immunization records, get your medical history and do physical exam of your body). If you do not have a record of your immunization (or just haven't taken any immunization) then they will give you a yellow card and give you the necessary shots you need for your destination (in this case - america). If you have a record of shots you have taken (usually recorded on the yellow card), they will review it to see if they are any missing shots you need to take. Just talk to any doctor around you, they will give you further details. i only know of yellow fever as a mandatory shot one must get, the others are usually determined by the destination or your present country of residence. The issue i was highlighting is that some of their prices for the immunization shots are on the high side, so it's safer to have taken them wherever you can and just show the evidence to them at your chosen venue. it's perfectly acceptable, otherwise, you'll take them during your medicals and pay their own price. |
Ibracadabra: Good evening everybody... I want to inquire from those who hv done their medicals what to take along with me for mine. I know I need to take 2 passport photographs and my intl' passport. Wanna know if I need to print out any forms or if I could just walk into any of d two hospitals with my passport n passports... ThanksDon't forget your immunization record(s). Without this, they will pump full of immunization shots that will cost a pretty penny! |
) americans' have a right to defend (y)ourselves and that's cool, but please try and be the 'bigger man' by letting this episode close.
and all the best ahead.
Or perhaps you meant certificate?
