USA entered WWII because Japan, an ally of Nazi Germany, bombed Pearl Harbour, a day earlier. Pearl Harbour was bombed on December 7, 1941. So, the war didn't end for another 3 and a half years in 1945.
Yes, Churchill begged USA to join since 1939 but refused. But Japan made the tactical error of bombing Pearl Harbour.

The real reason Hitler lost was because he made same mistake Napoleon Bonaparte made over a century earlier: invading Russia (USSR). USSR lost more men and decimated more Germans than any other country.

Had Hitler focused on Western Europe conquest, he would have finished off UK before USA could even join. The nearly 6 months between Hitler invading Russia and USA joining the war was a vital lost time. Especially including the months it took to plan and move men and hard ware near USSR boarder.

France and the Low Countries were already defeated by mid-1940.
