Anyone who wants to confirm if Nigeria is out of recession should go to the open markets and have a first hand and informed opinion

The issue of recession has been politicised by APC and the Federal Government. They mounted pressure on the Statistician General of the Federation (SGF), Dr. Yemi Kale, who hurriedly proclaimed that we were out of recession. Shortly after, he was re appointed to a fresh term of office, even when he was a PDP appointee

From the foregoing, any discerning Nigerian can easily read between the lines....

Quality Education is not cheap anywhere! Go check the cost of obtaining a Degree in an Ivy League School

Ekiti State University, is a state University that is struggling with issues of funding. besides, what's the value of the Naira in the present economy? Put all these factors together and you will realise those fees are not unreasonable

The pressure should rather be on Federal Universities who receive huge subventions from the Federal government including a robust IGR, yet have low standards. Most State owned Universities in Nigeria are barely surviving....

To be sincere, it is not the school's duty to reward them with cash prizes if it is not part of the school's policy. At best, it could be discretionary. Issuing them a certificate of recognition is enough testament of their academic excellence

That said, it is good to give monetary prizes to encourage others, but it is not compulsory. I would have been troubled if no form of recognition was accorded them. Since they were officially recognised, I am good....

The normal practice elsewhere is that rich Alumni of that Dept, Faculty or School, normally sponsor such awards or prizes. I can understand our consternation though....this recession is not smiling
