BEWARE OF SAMSUNG KNOX

If you have updated your phone to 4.3 jellybean pls don't attempt rooting. Samsung knox can make it impossible for you to update or downgrade in the future.

If you need a rooted phone please don't upgrade to 4.3, a lot people are looking for a way to downgrade to 4.1.2.

Just thought you should know.

realgpd: Please Help Guys! I just got this samsung note 2 10.1 (N8000 ) and 3G doesn't come on. All I see is the 'E' for Edge
I use the same mtn SIM on my other htc androids and 3g and 4g shows. I dont seem to understand why.
If you are sure your sim is 3g enabled do the following:

Go to settings - more settings - mobile networks - network mode, then click on WCDMA ONLY, thats 3g only.

Now go back and restart your phone. Make sure you do this in an area with 3g coverage. You can always revert back default settings.

sniperwolf: How about if I wait until it's available for this region?
Of course you can wait for the Nigerian update.

Rogbese is right. To select UK you have to start from scratch by doing a factory reset. The phone setup will start like you just bought the phone.
PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Owners Meet Here... by donlyone(m): 11:33am On Nov 30, 2013
Provided that:
(1) your Airtel Sim can browse,
(2) your phone gt-700 can browse, and
(3) you didn't subscribe for Airtel BB Unlimited
Then proceed as follows:

NAME........put whatever you want
APN........internet.ng.airtel.com
USERNAME. .......internet
PASSWORD.........internet

Leave every other thing the way they were.

if you subscribed for Airtel BB Unlimited, then check the Airtel bb thread for solution.

You are good to go.

sniperwolf: Please l bought the Note II today, but when l checked for updates l get "THE LATEST UPDATES HAVE ALREADY BEEN INSTALLED". It's a brand new Note II still running 4.1.2.

Is the OTA updates available in Nigeria?
When you were doing the initial setup you should have picked UK as your country, then you would have been receiving updates like you were in UK.

Thats what I did.

Don't trouble yourself too much, your phone no be samsung product, na CHINCO.
Hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Next time if you can't get a Samsung there are good alternatives out there, like Techno and the rest.

I feel for you. If its possible get the seller to replace it with what you paid for.

I'm still waiting for the OP to tell the house why he didn't take the phone to a Samsung center for free repairs. After all, there is two year warranty.
PhonesRe: Diary Of A Samsung Note II User by donlyone(m): 10:57am On Nov 23, 2013
donlyone: So why didn't you take it for free repairs since the phone has a two year warranty.

Let me tell you what you should have known about the Sudden Death Syndrome. There was nothing wrong with the Note2 until a certain XDA member, Alephzain, discovered and published his finding of a HOLE (security issue) in the programming of the EXYNOS chip used in some samsung phones like the Note1, S2, S3, Note2 which said could EXPLOITED by hackers. He also released an app that would patch the hole pending when Samsung will fix the issue in an UPDATE.
Since then it has been 'open season' for hackers on those phones.

This was published as early as December 17, 2012 when no one had any issue with the note2. Accept it was ignorance on your part and don't mislead people. At least you could have fixed it for free.

Rexphobia: I still don't know o, the ish happened on 19th of Nov, 2013.

I will keep you posted though.

I bought the phone less than two months after it was released. You should know the kind of reviews you will get at such time. Some issues are triggered based on wear and tear.

As per the update, you may want to know that I am currently on the latest version available in Nigeria (4.1.2) for Note II. The most current update is 4.2 and it's not available for Nigeria yet, last time I checked.
So you had the problem in Nov 2013 when the phone was released in Sept 2012. You had like a year to read about the phone.

You too fall my hand. I'll ask you to desist from badmouthing this great phone.

My advice to the OP is that next time you're buying a phone whether Nokia, Tecno or Vertu, try to check online forums for users review or opinions.

The sds is prevented by simply updating to the latest firmware. Also, it would have been fixed for free at a Samsung customer center if you were on warranty.

RIP to your Note2, thats a great phone.

Its the best phone you never got to enjoy.

sniperwolf: Any difference between the N7100 and N7105
Yes, though they are both international versions N7105 is LTE (4g) enabled but has no Fm Radio while N7100 is 3g enabled and has Fm Radio.

N7100 is the international model while the other one is a branded model made for a network carrier.

Make sure you buy the international model to avoid unpleasant surprises.

PhonesRe: Samsung S3 Or Galaxy Note 1 by donlyone(m): 9:04am On Oct 19, 2013
It depends on you. What screen size do you want?

You can get a used Note 1 for N35,000.

And make sure the one you choose is not branded.
PhonesRe: ** by donlyone(m): 6:55pm On Oct 10, 2013
Note2 has 2gig ram and the battery na die.

Have you ever wondered why the Note2 sells for N84,000 while the s3 sells for N64,000?
PhonesRe: ** by donlyone(m): 4:22pm On Oct 10, 2013
Yes, the S3 display is shaper than that of the note2 when held closer to the eye. But at usage distance the difference is negligible.

Before I bought my note2 l had been disturbing my friend who has both about which device was better, he always insisted it was the note2.

The note2 is an all round better device than the S3, that is, if you don't mind the size'

It boil down to what you actually prefer.
PhonesRe: ** by donlyone(m): 2:29pm On Oct 10, 2013
I think its a mistake to compare The e6 with the note2, specS on paper may not be as you expect in real life, if you have compared the galaxy s3 and s4 you'll understand what I mean, believe me the difference is not worth the N30,000 price difference.

since you want a 5inch- phone, you can compare it with the galaxy S3. The Note2 is 'arguably' better than than the S3 despite the difference in the PPI.

The note 2 is on a whole nother level, Imagine I wrote this post using my s pen, the hand writing recognition is amazing, its like writing on a piece of paper.
PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Owners Meet Here... by donlyone(m): 7:35am On Oct 10, 2013
I am really enjoying this phone, imagine the chance to write with a pen Instead of typing.

chatting has really become easy for me.

The hand writing recognition is simply amazing.
