The issue now is who appointed Alaafin as Yoruba political Head. Mind you not all omoluabis or lukumis are Yorubas . Yoruba was only meant for oyos. It was British that generalized everyone as Yorubas. Mind you Alaafin power only restricted him to his oyos Yorubas while ooni been the person on oduduwa stool is our general supreme head.

The person whose duty was to see Oduduwa, the Orisa, on daily basis before anyone could have access to him and who also happened to be Oduduwa Chief Priest was known as Ooni n ji ri Orisa. This was later shortened to Oonirisa, and much more later as Ooni for easy pronunciation. He was never one of the grandsons of Oduduwa. When Oduduwa died and it was observed that his seven grandsons had gone to various places to set up their own kingdoms and no one was available to step into the vacant stool of Oduduwa, it was decided that his Chief Priest, that is Ooni n ji ri Orisa should be asked to succeed him as the Arole Oduduwa. That would not have been possible if any of Oduduwa grandsons had been around. Ooni is the spiritual head of the Yorubas as the Chief Priest, while Alaafin is the political head of the Yorubas. The problem here is that politicians were allowed to destroy the rich history of the Yorubas for selfish reasons. Go and learn Yoruba history well
