Just one pedal which is electronic does all. I didn't read where it had a conventional brake pedal. Don't forget by virtue of kinetic energy the battery pack gets charged
The brake would still be there, only that this time it would be for the car to come to halt.

Depending on how much regeneration the software engineers allow when designing the car, the force can be powerful enough to slow the car most of the way to zero, meaning drivers only need to use the brake pedal to come to a full stop.

CrimeMum Received A Strange Call, Left Home Hurriedly Day She Was Killed — Daughter O by dont8(op): 7:09am On Apr 02, 2017
Late Afolabi

The family and three children of the woman allegedly murdered by an alfa in Badagry area of Lagos State two weeks ago are still in shock over the manner of her death, writes GBENGA ADENIJI

The three children of the late Mrs. Oluwakemi Afolabi, murdered in Ikoga Zebbe area of Badagry, Lagos State on Sunday, March 19, by an Alfa, looked forlorn as our correspondent entered their modest apartment located in Ojodu, Berger area of the state.

If wishes could raise the dead, eldest of the trio, Motunrayo, would waste no time in resurrecting her mother.

“She was a good mother who ensured we lacked nothing. Since the death of our father, she made sure we got the best especially in the area of education. We do not even know that we have no father because she filled the vacuum well. For us, she also refused to remarry but we felt she would have to do that someday because of the way society sees mature female adults without husbands,” the 18-year-old said amid sobs.

She also told SUNDAY PUNCH that on the day her mother was murdered, she received a ‘strange’ telephone call, hastily dressed and left the house.

Motunrayo, who is preparing for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, told our correspondent in a broken voice, that the deceased only gave her some money to cook for the family when she asked her where she was going.

Motunrayo

It was also learnt that the 38-year-old lady, who hailed from Oka Akoko, Ondo State, lost her husband four years ago. She also owned a ‘provision’ store not far away from where she lived.

Reports indicated that the deceased went to meet an unnamed alfa for unknown reasons in Sango area of Ogun State who connived with his accomplices in Badagry to kill her for ritual purposes.

The police have, however, arrested one Taofik Hassan, who beheaded her and later dismembered her remains. The suspect was apprehended while going to deliver the body parts he severed from her corpse to the alfa in Sango Ota. Hassan claimed that one Baba Ronke in Badagry and another alfa in the Sango area of Ogun State; who are on the run, told him on Friday prior to the Sunday the woman was killed that a female client would be lured to a spot in Badagry. He said he was instructed to kill her and remove some of her body parts for a client who wanted specific human parts.

He also claimed to have been paid N4,000 for the dastardly act. “I asked her where she was from and she said Ojodu Berger. I pitied her but had no choice. I later told her to kneel down and she obeyed. I noticed that she had been charmed and I later killed her,’’ Hassan told a mob.

Motunrayo, who tried in futility to stop tears flowing from her face as she spoke to our correspondent,
Motunrayo

said, “On Sunday morning, she received a strange call and quickly dressed to go out. I asked her where she was going to and she only gave me some money to cook meals. She said she would soon return to eat.

“When she did not return after many hours, I tried her phone and it was switched off. I later became worried and called some of her friends and the person who used to supply goods to her provision store but they told me they did not know her whereabouts.’’

She added that she was advised to report her as missing in a nearby police station, stating, “When we got there, we were told to try her phone and it rang but later switched off. I later learnt that an alfa lured her to Badagry to kill her.’’

Our correspondent gathered that the deceased used to receive strange calls and ensured her children were out of earshot anytime she wanted to talk on the phone.

Motunrayo said, “She was not that way before as she always shared things with me. There was a time she told me that an unknown man came to her store to tell her what was bothering her. She said her late mother told her that she was surprised how he knew what she was experiencing since she never met him before and he also gave her his number to keep in touch.

“Some months back, I noticed that she started keeping secrets and always saying she needed money without saying what she wanted to use it for. She used to tell me to go and stay in her store and attend to customers that she wanted to go to the market to buy things. Whenever she returned from such outings, I would ask her the things she went to buy and she used to say she did not see what she went for. Even if she had to die, I would not want my mother to die the way she died. I have yet seen her remains because police said investigations were ongoing on the matter.’’

On Friday before her death, Motunrayo said her mother asked her to use her (mother’s) debit card to withdraw the sum of N31,000 recently paid into her account by one of her debtors.

She added. “When I gave her the money, she brought out some money which she borrowed from some people and told me to count them. I was surprised that she borrowed money. The total was N500,000 and she said she was going to use it to buy goods but I did not see anything she bought with the money. I am beginning to think that she was told not to disclose anything to anybody because she refused to tell me anything,’’ she said.

As Motunrayo spoke in a misery-laden voice, her two younger brothers came out of one of the rooms into the living room, with the older of the two holding a family album. They later settled in a settee and started feasting their eyes on the photographs in the album for about 10 minutes.

The elder of the boys thereafter removed two photographs — the one their late mother took with some friends and her late husband — took a pencil and a plain paper and began to draw the latter picture.

“He likes drawing and draws well. But I do not know why he wants to draw our late parents,’’ Motunrayo said softly as she wiped her tears.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the ritualists could have made huge financial requests from the deceased. The source added that the deceased once confided in a close friend that she wanted to sell a building she was about to complete in Mowe area of Ogun State.

“I guess she was discouraged from doing that. The person wondered why she would want to do such but she did not tell why and what she needed money for. The police must find the masterminds of the act so others would not be their victims. There is more to tell the public particularly about what brought her to them and why she was killed. I think they decided to murder her after taking so much from her. They were obviously hiding something. They also took advantage of the fact that she has no husband because, ordinarily, a man would have become suspicious of her movements and the demands the alfa was making on her would have been long exposed,’’ the source noted.

The deceased’s younger brother, Tajudeen, who lamented the manner of his sister’s death, said her family was optimistic that the police would get to the root of the matter and get justice for the family.

Tajudeen said, “We are six children; four girls and two boys. She was the third child while I am the fourth. She was well loved in the area she lived because of her amiable nature. Though I do not visit her often because of my job, I talked to her frequently on the phone. I never knew she was involved with any Alfa.’’

The majority of the residents in the area decried the callous manner the woman was murdered, noting that her death was like a dream.

Two of the persons living in the area where the deceased’s store is located burst into tears when they came to commiserate with the children.

One of them, Mr. Ola Fasola, said the late woman was considerate and selfless as he rained curses on her killer.

Fasola said, “She was a good woman. She always encouraged me a lot and was jovial. I am surprised how she fell into the hands of the crooks. Why are human beings so wicked? Those who killed Mama Motunrayo must be found and made to face the music. She was a wonderful woman who would leave her own problems to help other people. I saw her briefly on Friday before she was killed on Sunday.’’

A woman, identified only as Mrs. Oluwaropo, who came with Fasola, could not conceal her grief.

She said the late woman was a friend of all and did not discriminate based on religion, ethnicity or status. Oluwaropo added that the future of the deceased’s children was vital as they had to carry on with life having lost both parents.

When contacted on the matter, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said investigation was ongoing on the matter.

He said the police were analysing the deceased’s outboard and inboard phone call history to know what led to her death and those responsible.

Famous-Cole added, “Investigation is ongoing on the matter. We are interrogating the suspect arrested in connection with the act. He will be charged to court. When the suspect was arrested, his accomplices fled but we are conducting a discreet investigation to arrest all those involved in the murder. The police are on top of the situation and the public should be assured that those involved in the act will be arrested and prosecuted.’’

PoliticsAbdulsalami, IBB, Danjuma, Gusau Made Obasanjo President In 1999 — Bamaiyi by dont8(op): 6:04am On Apr 02, 2017
A former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi, has shed light on the strategy allegedly deployed by former generals to ensure the emergence of a former military Head of State, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, as the country’s president in 1999.

https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/Obasanjo-Andries-Combrink.jpg?itok=WYd3NJje
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Bamaiyi’s new book, Vindication of a General, claimed that a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), who was in power at the time; former military dictator, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida; ex-Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.); and a former National Security Adviser, Gen. Aliyu Gusau, developed and executed the plan that helped Obasanjo to return to power as a civilian president in 1999.

The former army chief, who was detained for years during the Abdulsalami regime, attributed his travails to his opposition to Obasanjo’s candidacy and his support for the Alliance for Democracy’s presidential candidate in 1999, Chief Olu Falae.

He further revealed that the plot to return Obasanjo to power started shortly after Abdulsalami got into power. He alleged that Abdulsalami, on becoming the head of state, started holding secret meetings with Babangida and Gusau, on the future of the country.

He stated, “Unknown to me, Gen. (Abdulsalami) Abubakar had already committed himself to Generals Babangida, T.Y.Danjuma and Aliyu Gusau on General Obasanjo’s coming in to take over from him. A proposal I totally objected to, which I told Generals Abubakar, TY Danjuma and Aliyu Gusau in very clear terms. My stand did not go (down) well with the generals and General Abubakar started feeling unsafe.”

He stated, “He (Abdulsalami) was supported by some northern generals, who believed one of them would take over from Obasanjo after one term of four years. It was alleged that Obasanjo had promised Gen. Babangida that he would succeed him.”

To buttress his claim, the Bamaiyi said, “General Abubakar prepared and handed over his (handover) report to Gen. Obasanjo’s team, dated June 1998. This means that he prepared the report as soon as he was sworn in as the commander-in-chief in June 1998.”

Bamaiyi noted he insisted on Falae when he discovered that those who annulled June 12, 1993 election wanted to ‘arrange’ a president for the South-West.

“I decided to take Chief Olu Falae to Gen. Abubakar and only Abubakar and I discussed this issue. I do not regret that action because I was and I am convinced Falae would have done better as president of our great country. I am glad those behind Obasanjo knew (sic) better,” he said on page 120 of the book.

Bamaiyi said the entire plot was mooted by Babangida who was desperate to return to power. Bamaiyi stated, “This was not done because they liked Obasanjo, but because of the ambition of General Babangida to return as president after Obasanjo’s tenure.

“I believe that they saw Obasanjo as a political novice they would manipulate. They never thought they would meet a different Obasanjo from the one they had known in 1979.”

He added that Gusau and Danjuma put pressure on him to support Obasanjo, but he told them that Nigerians were tired of military rule.

“When I discovered that some people were pushing for a president from the South-West, I asked a friend, Dr. Frank Adejuwon, a minister in the Abacha cabinet, to contact Chief Falae and bring him to Abuja.

“I took Falae to Gen. Abubakar and told him that Falae was a very good candidate if the presidency had to go to the South-West. I believe Gen. Abubakar briefed Obasanjo, which led to an unforgiving Obasanjo developing actual hatred as far as I am concerned.”

On page 125, however, Bamaiyi also revealed that his support for Falae was a last resort. He pointed out that narrowing the search for the next president to the South-West did not make sense to him.

He stated, “When Gen. Abukakar took over, he and I had a discussion about the military and how Nigerians hated it. We agreed we should make a clean break by ensuring the next president would be someone without a military background.

“I was later told that for some reasons, others involved wanted someone from the South-West, which did not make any sense to me. I stood for an open election for Nigerians to decide who ruled them.”

Meanwhile, a lawyer of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, said the ex-president had assured him that he had no hand in an alleged coup attempt against Abacha.

Abayomi, who spoke to SUNDAY PUNCH in a telephone interview, noted that Obasanjo had said this after he challenged the former president privately.

The lawyer said, “In his room, it was only two of us and I confronted him. Then he told me that he didn’t know anything about it.”

NADECO paid lip service to Abiola’s release

Also in his book, the former army chief berated the National Democratic Coalition, saying its members only paid lip service to Abiola’s release.

Bamaiyi stated, “If they were sincere and actually supported him, they would have accompanied him to where he declared himself president. I am glad Abiola’s son, Kola, knew this and in the Ovation Magazine of July 12, 2003, he explained (that) the National Democratic Coalition piled pressure on his father to declare himself president, but would not rise to the occasion to defend him when it mattered.”

He said NADECO members advised Abiola not to accept conditions for his release.

Bamaiyi added that he and the then Chief of Air Staff, AVM Nsikak, broke the news of the death of a former military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha, to Abiola.

“Abiola was brought to Aguda House, where we met him. After pleasantries, we informed Abiola of Abacha’s death. He was silent for some time, but stated praying for the repose of Abacha’s soul.

“Chief Abiola served us tea. He said he would like me to hold the Army for him when he took his mandate. He later wrote Gen. Abubakar about me and his intentions for me. Gen. Abubakar did not tell me about these letters until they surfaced at the Oputa panel,” he said.

Bamaiyi described Abiola’s death as a surprise, adding that he was healthy when he met him.

Abiola wrote me before his death

The former chief of army staff said after their meeting on June 29, 1998, Abiola wrote a letter to him.

Part of the letter read, “Having talked to you last Monday, I can now understand why the Army has remained stable, despite the volatile happenings triggered off by the late General Abacha’s attempt to do a Rawlings in our great nation.

“I hope and pray that you will be able to stay on top of the Army for at least the next four years, to continue your splendid professional career in the service of our fatherland.”

You can't give what you don't have, Dino is just a lucky chap and an opportunist just like most of the other APC candidates in 2015 general election who rode on the tail of 'Sai Baba' bandwagon to get to where they're now. I've never been a fan of his, what with the fight in the House and his catastrophic fight with his wife that was unbecoming of an honorable gentleman of his caliber then.

He has stepped on many toes and bitten more than he can chewed, if I were him, I would stay low after this debacle and do more of Legislative duties, like the bill he just sponsored prohibiting tribal marks.

When you are humble, taciturn and mindful, your shortcomings are easily overlooked, even in war, only the arrogant and pompous fighter suffers death fast. My father would always say, not every breast is ripe enough for a man to touch. In life, not every fight should a man fight. Regardless of what, we must choose our fight wisely.

Dino Melaye is perilously intelligent, he is an uncommon fighter. With sheer doggedness, he defined a template of survival. From an abysmally poor background, the Okun born lad extricated himself from the intimate embrace of poverty.

That he is where he is today, is a testimony that where you come from is never a limitation to what you are today. Using empirical measurements, I dare to say that Dino has broken the ceiling of limitations. He has redefined what struggle for emancipation is. He is a walking reference of grass to grace.

Tragically, instead of being celebrated for his feat, he succumbed to the weaknesses of mortals. He began to play the god. He dares the gods to wrestling match. He brags and puff in arrogance. He become rambunctious, irritating and discourteous . He could challenge anyone to a fight. He climbed the high horse and attributed his divorce from poverty as his sole efforts. He wears anywhere the garment of arrogance and self worth.

Instantly, he lost the admiring gaze from the public. He became a nuisance reference, a defender of absurdities. He goes violent and uncivil in his manifestations. Within a blink of an eye, a promising lad transformed to a scornful reference. His unguided show of wealth didn’t help matter, he flaunt his wealth before his poor companions, instead of using his possessions as motivating tools, he turned them to oppressing teachings.

Instead of reliving himself in people, he found solace in the esoteric affluence of life, Forgetting that like erection, nothing last forever in life. Those who live forever are those who recreate themselves in others.

Playing the devil’s advocate all the time leaves you sapped in moral, value and dignity. Not every fight is your fight. You can’t be more intelligent than a body of 109 parliamentarians. You can’t always speak their minds. Leave the microphone for once. Your thunderous voice should be reserved for the good of humanity. The world should regard you as a model of hope and not the monster of the parliament.

Ordinarily, the world would have come to your defense when the case of not graduating from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria came up, instead the public have joined in thorough search of your ABUSITE status. That you went to ABU to them isn’t enough, arguing in stoic defense that not everyone who went to the market returns with wares. Some even said that you may have earned a degree in ABU but not the character that comes with learning. Majority of Abusites are even saying that you quickly come clean by putting forth your degree before the public so that the issue of forgry can be lay to rest.

This is what unguided heroism can cause, it makes one vulnerable, exposed and opened to needless harms. The chick survived the fury of the hawks because it lay low from the prey of the hawks.

Please save your promising rise by choosing the fight that suits you as the furious rise of a child is usually not lasting especially when the child is against nature.

Proactively musing

Why go this route, can't remember insulting your person with my comment. Anyways, have a good evening ahead.

See this ignorant mumu talking of illogical reasoning. It's either you've got severe amnesia or you're  plainly a confused and myopic illiterate.  My first post before you aimlessly quoted me was " u mean human beings were swimming in that muddy water". I never said the kintambo was a naturally muddy waterfall. It's still possible the water got muddied before the trees fell on it.
Stop already! Be logical for once, you've made a mistake with your comments and Bollinger has corrected you on that. Come to think of it, who in their right senses would go to such a muddy water-fall in the first place, assuming that's its natural state in the first place.

TinaAnita:
The sight of the place is even life-threatening and they went there to swim? Jeez
That's not the natural state, the 'quake' of the fall made it muddy that way.
