TV/Movies / Re: Bright Echefu Ikechukwu, The Owner Of TSTV (Profile, Photos) by dopedude(m): 11:11am On Oct 03, 2017
jnwankwo:
Another MMM Scam. Everybody beware.

These TSTV guys are actually reckless. I am really surprised that they brought the minister into this.
I believe that this is another MMM. Buyers beware. This is based on the following:
1. Bein sports acquired the EPL, Champions League and Laliga only for MENA (Middle East and North Africa). They do not have the right for Nigeria. DSTV owns the rights for Nigeria till 2019. You cannot give what you do not have. When a new service is launched, you have to wait for the next bidding round to have a shot at acquiring the rights. You cannot jump in the middle and start showing it. Things are not done that way in the PayTV world.

2.
A lot of channels listed like CNN, National Geographic, Discovery etc were acquired by DSTV on an exclusive basis for DTH in sub-saharan Africa by DSTV. Channels like Star Movies, MBC2, etc are only cleared for middle east and Asia. I really doubt that they have the rights to those channels. They may show it for one or two months before they are asked to take them off air.

3.
I check with a content aggregator on the cost per subscriber for these channels, assuming they can buy the rights, it came out the about 23 USD per month. That is excluding the sports channels. Based on today's naira exchange rate of 365 naira to a dollar, the cost is 8,395 Naira per subscriber. The content owners globally charge per month for their content. They do not charge per week or part of the month. The content owners dictate the terms. Nobody can pay 8395 Naira and charge 3000 Naira. Not possible.

4.
The cost of decoder package is as follows - decoder 25 USD, smartcard 4 USD, dish is 5 USD. Total is 34 USD (12410 naira). If we add shipping and clearing, you can get 15,000 Naira. To charge 5000 Naira for the package, you will need a lot of cheap money from bank to fund the decoder purchase. Buying 15,000 and selling 5000 sounds interesting to me.

5.
To do internet via satellite, you need VSAT equipment which is expensive compared to the dish/lnb you need to receive dstv. Minimum cost of vsat equipment should be not less than 50,000 Naira. If you use the traditional dish equipment, you can only receive. You cannot do internet with it. Unless TSTV will supply you 40,000 Naira vsat equipment for 5000 Naira.

6.
I went to lyngsat and checked the ABS 3A satellite, I did not see any information about any TSTV channels. Lyngsat is the database of all channels currently on satellite.

7.
When you launch a new DTH platform, you start with a test transmission. This allows you to work through some issues that might come up. It also gives people chance to see some of your channels to make sure they are real before committing their money. There is no test transmission from TSTV.

8. EFCC Fraud Charges
EFCC arrested this guy last year for fraud. Not credible.
http://motherhoodinstyle.net/2016/01/23/doctor-who-proposed-marriage-to-wifes-close-friend-4-months-after-her-death-dumped-after-hes-nabbed-by-efcc/

In conclusion, people should ask enough questions before investing their hard earned money. If it is too good to be true, it's probably is. Let this not be another MMM.

It's people like you that's stopping Nigeria from moving forward.

Romance / Re: When She Says "I'm Taken" by dopedude(m): 10:28am On Apr 24, 2017
Toks2008:
You ask an obviously unmarried lady out and she says "sorry I'm in a relationship" and many ladies will quickly change their status on their social media handle to...."in a relationship or Engaged" ...worse still some will go as far as putting up the pics of a man who is not yet officially theirs and I keep wondering what goes on in the minds of some ladies ..

Shall we call that being faithful or being naive?

Every lady reading this should wake up and understand that until a man is officially married to you,he can not be trusted in anyway and that a man is even engaged to you does not guaranty marriage

Each time you tell a guy who asks you out that you are taken while still unmarried, you are simply shutting the door on yourself too soon and many ladies have shut out their husbands simply because they got carried away by an unserious man who is only good at mouthing their love and giving them forlorn hope.

Don't get it twisted, this is not about being unfaithful to that particular guy you truly desire but it is about tactfully leaving your options open by not flaunting him on or offline thereby driving away possibly more willing suitors.

Many ladies remain taken for years without wedding bells and I have seen several ladies who have been engaged for years.

The bottom line is that you should stop flaunting any guy you are courting and only flaunt your husband

Ladies should stop blocking their chance cos In the real world...there is no in between and there is no such word like "I'm taken" while you are still unmarried.

You are either single or married

Don't know if this makes sense.

Imagine u r in a serious relationship with a girl whom you have engaged, and she is being open to other options as you said, how would you feel if you find out?

You still don't get my point. what I'm saying is what if there is no heaven or Hell, then what have I lost here on earth serving Christ.
and what if eventually there is heaven and Hell what do you think you have lost.

You have lost nothing, but when you die and discover muslims where right then you have lost everything. Cos many muslims also find joy and comfort in Islam

What exactly did I lose. Since when I die there happens to be no heaven or life after death, but while here on earth I find peace and joy in my religion.
but also think of the other side, What if you die and there happens to be heaven. What do you think you have lost.

It is better they stay deluded.
I don't want them to change. Imagine a world without christians. I think for now those who discover the truth should remain few.

Hardmirror please I want to ask a simple question. I am a Christian and I believe in Christ. I have enjoyed my bible and Christ for he has given me tremendous joy and comfort. if when I die, i come to learn that there is no God, no Jesus, and the bible is not true and there is no salvation or heaven; please tell me what I have lost believing in Christ.

This is very difficult to choose, but the novel I can't ignore is Faith of the Fallen by Terry Goodkind, the sixth book in the sword of truth series.

You need to read all the parts bro. It gets better and better. Read Chain Fire, that's the 12th book of the series

My favourite Novel has to be Terry Goodkind's The Sword of Truth novels series.

If you have not read this book then you really are missing out on a glorious experience.

Since I came across this extraordinary book mid last year, I have been glued to my screen like a hungry leech.

Everything about this book is just magnificent. The characters, the Wizard's rules and how they are tightly, beautifully, if not perfectly, embedded in each book, how all the cascading events in the series are precisely woven together into one gigantic lop is mind-boggling.

Suspense that will make your mind race in a sudden rush. At times when I read up to a thrilling part, I can't just help but to drop my phone, stand up, close my eyes, grinning joyously and I flow with the moment into another world.

The Feeling is bliss.

I read the whole series (1-12) in 2 weeks. That book is the bomb

Hi,
I am a partner with Uber. I can say it is lucrative if:

You can drive it yourself!!!! thats the best option if you are not currently employed or..
You have an honest driver (they could easily go off line and use your car as cabu cabu or not buy the amount of fuel that would be needed per day), like am not trusting my driver right now..
You have a car that has good fuel efficiency like the toyota (but it is not limited to toyota, i use a ford escape)
You your driver would be hardworking because you work early morning and late to make money, during the day can be dry sometimes.
Your driver is willing to driver weekend at certain time like sunday, the rates are higher.

I dont think the car has to be black though..

Can I please have your email or number, I need some info because I want to invest in the uber business. Thanks

FBN MMF is what you need

how do I contact them to start the process. thanks
Investment / Re: Mutual Funds by dopedude(m): 12:39pm On Nov 18, 2015
carpenter:

Nah..you may indeed be right also. I calculate based on how much i invested and how much i have gained theoretically. The fund manager will also calculate this differently...it depends on what time horizon we are looking at and hw much we paid for it. For clarity, someone that bought Transcorp at 11 naira is unhappy it is barely above 2naira, someone that bought at 50k in is overly happy with his investments.

The funds are classified based on what they invest in

1. MMF is like a savings account basically but with a better yield and the fund manager tries to maintain it at 100 Naira, dividend payment may flutter from time to time. It invests in stable instruments and the risk to your money is low.

Why invest? It has a low entry level (5K). The holding period is one month (if you withdraw before the end of one month, you pay a penalty).

2. FIF and HF have instruments whose nature are not stable in their composition which go up and down also hence the reason for the value fluctuating.

Why invest? You can make more money in FIF and HY than MMF hypothetically but you can also lose more...they are of medium risk to high risk. As you can see above in my earlier post, MMF would make 13-14% this year but FIF has already made 16.85% (my figure which includes dividend compounded) which is the positive side of the equation, we could also be on the negative side of it.

If you are looking for low risk and safety of principal then MMF is your best bet. However, if the rates of Bonds and TBills fall, be sure the effect will be felt in MMF also since that is what majority of the funds goes into. Think of MMF as you investing in Bonds and Tbills without the hassles of contacting your bank to buy these instruments on your behalf, ease of management and liquidation...of course you pay a price for all that (~1% goes into the fund manager's pocket). In my general scheme of things...it is a small price to pay for simplicity.

There is a saying that no one can time the market and i agree absolutely. You can get lucky once in a while but it is a losers game, HF and FIF tries to help you with that as against you picking stocks yourself...

The following might shed more light on the 3 funds from the fund manager's perspective

****addition****
Playing around the Fund Manager's site I saw this. You would agree even your MMF % is greater than what they have here due to how the calculations are done

http://www.fbncapital.com/asset-management/fund-prices

please I don't understand the N100 thing. is that the processing fee or what

What is the state of sports in his state?

I can bet its as good as dead.

Instead of him to develop sports in his state, he rushed to another country, where the politcians think of the well being of their citizens, to watch two well planned, well structured football clubs play.

This is a disgrace to Nigeria.

Would it be a crime if the Governor of London come to watch a match between Kano Pillars and Enyimba of Aba.

Due to corruption, our Nigerian Premier League has been in shambles for years

So instead of youths trooping to the various stadiums in their states to watch their respective teams play, they rush to viewing centres to dash DSTV N50 to N100 naira every weekend.

Oh....I weep for my nation!
see mentality...If you have the money to go to Chelsea to go and watch them live and you have the chance won't you go. Can't a governor just have fun once without you people criticizing and taking everything to politics. I'm planning to go watch the champions league final next year, and it's because I have the time and money. Just change your ways of thinking...
