AngryBirds7:
Your comment about Americans being scared of Nigeria is very ignorant. Also, another guy's comment about Americans being ignorant is also silly. Over here we do not worship politicians as you guys do. In fact, some people may not give much thought to who the mayor of their city is .There's often no celebration of infrastructure .Its just built and life goes on. All that matters is that the city is working . But in Nigeria ,politicians often put their posters on all projects as if they built it with their money .
Americans and Canadians refer to Africa in the same way they refer to Europe becaue America is very large and thats the outlook americas look at the world . For example most America would say they are visiting "Europe" when they are going on vacation in Netherlands,Spain or Greece.
How can America be scared of Nigeria which is a poor ,underdeveloped third world country with no hope in sight ?In fact Nigeria is not among the top 13 geographically largest countries in Africa. Nigeria is not among the top 10 developed countries in Africa. Many of the developments in Nigeria ,like those 15 storey buildings in Lagos island have been made possible by Americans and Nigerian americans who where given the opportunity to migrate and study or settle in the USA for a better life. So,it is highly foolish of you to brag that Nigerians are the most eeucated in the USA instead of being grateful for the opportunity granted . American firms like Halliburton and Mobil, royal dutch shell employs 100s of thousands of nigerians and supports Nigeria's economy.
Just because most Americans are charitable and not as corrupt and fraudulent-minded like nigerians does not mean that they are ignorant and nigerians are smart.where has Nigeria's smartness led the country to? After world war 2 america helped Japan,South Korea,Germany,Singapore etc to develop. so how can America be caused of Nigeria which is one of the most underdeveloped and poorest countries per income capita in the world ? The United states is 11 times larger than Nigeria .The united states has better climate variety and weather and beautiful nature than Nigeria by far.The unired states has numerous world class towns towns and over 100 world class cities like Los Angeles,Dallas,Seattle ,Atlanta,Miami,New York ,Chicago,Boston,Houston,Minneapolis,San francisco,Charlotte,Philadelphia,Las Vegas ,etc. and each of these cities are nothing less than 20,000km2 . Lagos is just 3500 km2 . akwa ibom state is 7000 km2 .los angels is 35 ,000km2 while Tokyo japan metropolis is around 40,000km2.This means that Los angeles is over 4 tmes larger than Akwa ibom landmass. Does Nigeria even have constant electricity? what has Nigeria invented ?The United has more natural and human resources than Nigeria by far . Texas and North Dakota more oil than Nigeria.
Why don't Nigerians support NTA? The CNN in the united states is different from the one you have there in Nigeria. We have the real CNN while you guys have CNN International which is put in the care of black Africans . So why do you blame the United states for what CNN Africa does? Mark zuckerbeg ,an america is visiting Nigeria to help your economy and potential ,and you are still being arrogant saying America is scared of Nigeria .
Japan,Germany,South Korea,Canada,Australia and UK look up to the United States as big brother and ally, and you are telling me that America is scared of a third world shiithole like Nigeria? If America wants ,Buhari can be removed at any moment . Nigeria can be invaded and colonized by America, and nothing would happen .Do you know that America can shut down Nigeria's internet? very very funny. Nigeria will continue to be the way its is because of such ignorant mentality .Nigerians think they are are smart by scamming people or taking short cut ,taking advantage of people ,but you are actually foolish. Nigeria and most countries on earth always immitate america. Nigeria have the largest skin bleachers in the world ,and very soon Nigerians will say Americans are scared of Nigerians being whiter than Americans.

Nusaf:
If that is the case, then why is it that most of these first class products of private universities can't stand their 2:1 counterparts from public universities both academically and intellectually ? Examples abound. U may take a walk to the nearest NYSC orientation camp and carry out some research. I graduated with 2:2 in Elect/Elect and I work in the same organisation with a graduate of private university with a cgpa of 4.42 in the same E/E who couldn't differenciate btw the electrical symbol of an inductor and that of a resistor. This same guy could not differenciate btw Kwatt and KVA.
And I also know a graduate of a private uni with a 2:2 in the same course who is really good at what he does and probably better than you. so??

OBAnkemi:
Abeg educate us; what 'needed facilities to achieve that feat' does private unis have in Naija?
Secondly, I do like to seriously know what you mean by public universities have poor academic faculties......
If all universities in Naija are objectively and honestly/transparently rated, using world-best practices/criteria,.......believe me no private university in Nigeria would appear in a list of the top 20 or 25 Nigerian universities.
Guy, from the hostels to the libraries to the classrooms. Those 3 things are very convenient in a typical private uni unlike their public counterparts.
And concerning that top 20 list Nigerian uni, maybe you should check the current top 10 list and lemme know. Thanks
EducationRe: Proliferation Of First Class Degrees In Private Varsities The PUNCH by Dotunblaze(m):
I believe private uni should have churn out more first class students given that they have the needed facilities to achieve that feat.

Is it the public universities that have poor academic faculties that enhance your chances of having good grades??
Generally, I don't think there should be any discrimination. A student that is unserious and is either in a public or private uni, won't have good grades.

But private universities just makes it a little bit easier for you grin

YoungExec:
Very Sad thread.
With this current economic climate unemployment is getting even worse.
In the public sector, kids of politicians are being hired secretly (eg CBN).
For those of us in the private sector, hiring is out of the question for now as some of us are laying off staff while others are struggling to maintain existing staff, much less hire new ones.
For those still in School:
Wake up! Your certificate class matters! Take your studies serious and start now to do things that give you an edge when you eventually leave school.
For those currently searching
If you totally lack experience, try to volunteer and work without pay for limited time to get the experience clause in your CV. This way you can then apply for jobs requiring experience.
If you have experience, try searching for KPI based jobs as these are still available. Eg, many companies seek improved revenues in this harsh economy so they are more likely to hire into marketing or sales departments while sacking staff of more administrative departments.
For those who have jobs
Keep your head down and avoid any problems in your office, don't shine too much, don't be too dull. Do everything in your power not to loose your job.
Start saving and Invest in a side business.
The Future of the Nigerian Youth is bleak but God is in control.
For those who seem to think that the vast majority of people on this thread are stupid for looking for work instead of going into entrepreneurship, You are very wrong!
You all seem to forget that besides the business Idea, 'capital' is the second very important thing needed to go into business and most youths don't have it. Banks won't lend without collateral and parents are struggling in this economy so who gives the youth the capital? Don't be quick to judge.
Spot on bro. A lot of people are quick to encourage fresh graduates and youths to go into their own businesses and become entrepreneurs forgetting that these things take money as well as the huge amount of risk involved.

The Story is told of a group of people traveling in January, en route their promised land.
Along the way, they ran into a wild harmattan fire in which some of them died.

Beating a retreat, they went into a village where they met an old woman who advised them to name themselves February or else they would all be burnt.
She also taught them to sing as they continued their sojourn, "We February, we don't want to be all burnt..."

So, they sang in Yoruba, "Awa fe buari, a o fe jona tan" cheesy
