NYSCRe: Question Regarding NYSC Revalidation by downbad(op): 7:17am On Apr 09
Alapereketu:
have you do the revalidation
Yes, I have.

Just to be sure, it's a simple process of clicking revalidation and logging in, right?

Check out the attached screenshots. If that's all, then yes I have revalidated. I did the revalidation on the 12th of March.

NYSCRe: Question Regarding NYSC Revalidation by downbad(op): 6:58am On Apr 09
Alapereketu:
Revalidation Needed: You are likely expected to log in and revalidate your registration when the portal opens for the current batch, as this process shifts your details forward to the new batch.
Automatic Changes: For those who received a call-up number previously but didn't report, the system will revalidate you to receive a new, updated call-up number when the next set of call-ups are issued.
Check Frequently: Keep checking your NYSC portal dashboard regularly between now and the camp registration date. The call-up number changes to indicate you have been assigned to the new batch, not the previous one.
Thank you. Any idea on when I might be called up? Or it's unpredictable?

I mean am I going to be called up with this batch?
NYSCQuestion Regarding NYSC Revalidation by downbad(op): 11:20am On Apr 08
Good day, everyone.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question.

Please, I registered for NYSC last year November but I didn't receive a call up number until February this year.

I did not report to camp at all in February for some reasons.

Now, NYSC is issuing new call up numbers to PCMs that were not previously called up.

My own call up number still has not changed to a new one.

Please, I'd like to know if it is expected to change as an indicator that I've been called up again.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.
ProgrammingMy Almost 2-year Dev Journey by downbad(op): 8:16am On Jun 11, 2025
I had been documenting my journey as a software developer here on Nairaland. My first programming project was posted here in November 2023, and I got laughed at -https://www.nairaland.com/7913868/created-deployed-first-django-website

Then I posted about my first Upwork gig here too in November 2024 - https://www.nairaland.com/8255595/got-first-gig-upwork

Less than two years later, much has changed.

I have gotten three small gigs on Upwork and a few small gigs outside Upwork (screenshots attached).

I am still hoping for bigger gigs that bring me thousands of dollars. Yea, it might seem hard but I wouldn't have imagined I would be here two years ago! A boy can dream!

If you're a beginner and want to learn software development from me, feel free to reach out via the email on my blog’s About page. I offer affordable one-on-one mentorship for those serious about learning.

LiteratureAll We Really Have In This World Is Ourselves by downbad(op): 10:51am On Dec 14, 2024
Earlier this week, one of my colleagues lost her father. It's really startling how much can happen within a 24-hour period. I'm not exaggerating when I say that something could happen in the next 24 hours that might drastically change your life, either positively or negatively.

It's crazy that I had worked together with this colleague of mine some 48 hours before, and then I was at work when the information came that she had just lost her father. Obviously, it was heartbreaking news.

LiteratureTrapped In The Matrix by downbad(op): 9:32pm On Dec 13, 2024
The year was 2019, and we had just finished an Anatomy lecture in College Hall. I was waiting to sign the attendance sheet when one of my beautiful female classmates approached me with a grin on her face. She told me she had spent hours going through my Facebook posts. She said she had been bored one night, opened Facebook, and just endlessly scrolled through my posts. She mentioned that she liked my posts because they were, in her words, 'different.' I smiled back at her but said nothing. Considering she was a pretty girl, the next logical thing would have been to ask for her number right then. But I didn’t. Instead, I took a weirder route. I got home, searched for her in our class WhatsApp group, and texted her. And that’s how we got each other’s numbers. But I digress.

Whenever I read a book, watch a movie or TV show, read an online article, or listen to a piece of music, and encounter something that resonates with me, I share it on my Facebook. As a result, my Facebook is an agglomeration of content that, if you're like me, you would find particularly interesting.

But from the picture up uploaded in your first post it seems the fixed price was $5. Then you'd be paid based on how many milestones you complete.

To be honest it's quite small considering the nature of the project. But see it as a leg in the door like you rightfully pointed out. Cos your badge would advance to rising Talent, and you can upload the job on your profile which would really help in making prospective employers notice and employ you.

Finally if I'm to advise you, I'd say avoid using your connects to apply for fixed jobs. Look for hourly jobs and apply for them. Reason being that hourly jobs pays more than fixed jobs.
no i've had multiple milestones since the picture was posted.

Congrats, with your experience how best will you advise a beginner to land his or her first gig.
I just got lucky, I am not in a position to give advice yet. I read that over 90% of freelancers never earn a penny on Upwork.

Congratulations.

Hope the satisfied customer left a positive feedback after the job? Cos that feedback would go a long way in helping you secure more jobs.
The contract is still ongoing, they keep adding more milestones. The screenshot I shared here was the payment I had received at that point.

I am currently engaged in a project that involves extracting email addresses from an application that generates them and then pasting them into another application to fulfill a task that requires email verification. The difficulty lies in the fact that I need to repeat this process thousands of times, which is very time-consuming. What methods can I use to automate this entire procedure?
If the application that generates the emails has an API, you can interact directly with the API to pull the email addresses in bulk. If the verification tool also offers an API, you can automate the entire process without needing to interact with the UI.

Basically, you can automate this with a script using Python or Javascript.

Upwork is an oil well. How I remember when I got my first job on Upwork in January 2021, I stopped freelancing a bit earlier this year for work and other tech skill acquisition. Though I still send in proposals from time to time

I'm coming back with full force next year, God-willing. My free monthly 10connects for don big now.

Congrats OP
Thanks and good luck to you on your return.

What's the project about on a high level?

Is it backend or frontend or full stack project?
It is a SAAS (Software as a Service) aimed at at ecommerce audience.

But, basically it's a full stack work. You'd be very surprised to know that I built it single handedly.

I asked around, and it was easily worth thousands of dollars. At least $2000. So you can see I was severely underpaid.

But, yea, it would look good on my portfolio and hopefully open the door for future better deals.

I'd be in charge of its maintenance and new features, so I guess that's a consolation.
