Religion / Should Ladies Cover Their Heads/hair To Church? by doyin2011(m): 4:37pm On Jan 04, 2014
It was a Sunday morning and
service just started with worship
and praise on the roll. I walked
to my seat after having to bring
invited folks for service, then as
we ended worship, about to take
our seats, a pretty lady and her
friend walked in, she was cute
as her English dress stood out
too. She made way to sit on an
available chair beside me and
was welcomed to church.
Of one other thing I noticed was
her long hair, black and shining
but still had it covered with a
veil or scarf as generally
referred to. After some time I
noticed that she was observing
every other lady and I think she
discovered most of them were
without a scarf to cover their
hair and she then decided to
remove hers. It was then time
for a word of prayer and her
friend picked up her scarf to
cover her hair for her, and she
refused saying ‘’ am not using
it, moreover it’s not a must.
Look at other ladies ‘’ and the
scene ended that way.
I was back home some weeks
later watching a television
broadcast of a particular
ministry with an elderly man
and he condemned the fact that
‘’ ladies shown in that broadcast
had their hairs un-covered and
also had their lips and face
painted’’ as he said. I was slow
to respond to him considering
the fact that, he was an elderly
man I respected and I may not
win the argument as it would
turn to one so I taught it was
good I keep quiet as I just
shook my head to the
acceptance of what he said and
dissatisfaction to his comment .
Thinking about this made me
conduct an opinion poll
questioned ‘’ Why I won’t go to
Church with my hair covered’’.
Some responses were explosive
of new dimensions to the issue,
most of which were reference to
1 Corinthians 11. Some of
which I would share with you,
others am still trying to
comprehend.
Below are 6 comments by some
readers of this blog. Remember
you could drop yours too at the
end of this piece.
-I believe that the famous and
only text about this is (1 Cor
11) and it has been
misunderstood. It’s head
covering not hair, there is a
difference. The hair is already
covering the head, a thorough
meditation on that would
expose the truth.
- It’s an act of disrespect to
God, sometimes when I go to
Church and forget my cap at
home, I enter the church and
sit at the bank.
- I don’t know if it would be
generally acceptable, but I can
go to church without a scarf
because my hair actually
covers my head.
- It’s not a command but a
doctrine, but in the bible we
were told that we should let
our hair be a covering for our
head.
- It’s simple. Moving in the
light of revelation, it’s just
that we have made a doctrine
of many things based on our
culture.
- If females are mandated to
cover their hair in your
church, please follow suite
otherwise change your church
where you could leave your
hair free.
- The passage everyone is
referring to here, to me talks
about the relationship between
a woman and her
responsibility to her husband
as a sign of being bound to
him.
You could be asking where
really do I stand? I live by a life
of believe and as scripture
explained that we worship God
in the truth we know and in
spirit. It takes an act of faith to
acknowledge that every act we
take towards pleasing him is
acceptable, as ‘’without faith, it
is impossible to please him’’.
I have come to understand as a
friend rightly said that there was
no standard law as to covering
of hair in the old/new testament.
Considering the aspect of the
letter Paul wrote on the issue, he
made his points clear. Some of
which are:
. He did not say it is irreverent
for women to appear with heads
uncovered. He didn’t even
insinuate it.
. He did not say it displeases
God.
And lastly, He did say it is the
custom. And it is wise to abide
by the custom.
Those who believe in women
wearing external “head-
coverings” or bonnets on their
heads will argue that even
though long hair is a covering
(indefinite article), women still
need to wear an additional
covering or bonnet on their
heads. This is easily disproved
with the Bible. The same
passage that tells women to be
covered tells men not to be
covered.
Therefore, if this were talking
about something other than long
hair (i.e. a “head-covering” or
bonnet), it would be a sin for a
man to wear it while praying or
prophesying. This is directly in
contradiction with many Old
Testament passages that
command the Old Testament
priests to wear bonnets and
mitres while ministering in the
priests office
So here comes my view. I stand
to correct my view from time to
time as I understand the whole
issue more. I believe the way I
was raised is having a lot to
decide my stand. Scarf is always
being requested for when
prayers are said in the home, so
we believe strongly in covering
of the female hair. Visit

SIngle Ladies, that Close Dude could be the ONE

Observe well, that Individual is Close.
Wednesday was my birthday and for the first time
in my life I was not looking forward to it, because
it only made me more aware of the fact that I was
getting older and I was still very single any way I
managed to get up that morning, and prepare for
work, while I was still dressing my parents called
and prayed for me, i managed to drag myself to
work, on getting to office there was nothing so
spectacular about the day, except Toks seem
more on my case.
Tokunbo is my work buddy, my confidante, in fact
in short terms he was my best friend, we shared
almost everything including my lunch which I
usually brought from the house, he even knew
about all my trial and errors in relationships, he
even introduced me to two of the guys I dated
and made jokes of some of them most times he
was around me, he was even the one who
adviced me to try a dating website and all.
Anyway on my birthday he asked me to dinner to
celebrate my birthday quietly with me, I didn’t
mind at least I didn’t have a boyfriend to keep me
occupied that night so Toks was an option.
Later in the day all members of staff celebrated
my birthday for me it was beautiful and I really
enjoyed it.
The day went quickly and it was already evening
and about time for my dinner with Toks I thought
of what to wear, I finally decided on my black
shimmery dress and purple shoes plus my
purple earrings and by the time my make up was
done I knew I was beautiful I felt like I had just
stepped out of a magazine I felt truly beautiful
like I hadn’t in a long time, anyway I went for my
dinner on my arrival at the agreed venue, I had to
fight to keep myself from releasing a gasp the
place was truly beautiful the candle lit and all I
was truly in love with the place already, just then
something else took my breath away Tokunbo he
had never looked more handsome, I had to
quickly gain myself back before things got quickly
weird. “so who lent you a suit that left you looking
this good this evening?” I asked trying to lighten
up the moment “It’s one of the things I inherited
from my ancestors, I don’t wear it except for
special occasions” he replied, it was one of the
reasons I and Toks were friends he had quite a
sense of humor, I gave him a smile and asked
again if he used make up because he looked too
handsome to be the Toks I knew, he laughed and
said he was pleased he’d impressed me that
night, we engaged in small talk actually we did a
little bit of gossiping afterwards we ordered our
dinner, then it was time for desert when it
happened, he started adjusting really uneasy in
his chair, he looked more nervous than I had ever
seen him, he never looked that serious not even
when he got into trouble and was called to see
our boss,
as I sat there wandering, the waiter
returned with a package, which appeared too
large to be dessert, he dropped the package right
in front of me as I opened it my jaw practically
dropped it was the most beautiful cake I had ever
seen, it was made in form of an engagement
ring, next to the cake was a note that simply said
“say yes please”
as I looked up from my note I saw Toks on one
knee, ring in hand and for the first time I saw him
look so serious “marry me please, I’ve watched
you try to find love in the past few months
especially and with each time you failed I felt
more convinced you were the one, I’ve thought
about it severally I love you too much to just keep
being friends with you, I want you to become a
part of my life, I want to know what it feels like to
crack you up when we’re like 60 and when we
have a daughter
I’ll like for her to have your eyes.
Marry me please” honestly in that moment I felt a
series of emotions, I wanted to hug him tightly
and say YES and let him know that was the
sweetest thing I had heard at the same time I
wanted to slap him and ask him why he had to
wait this long, but I did neither I just sat there and
stared long at him before I said” haba Tokkunbo
so it was you all along? you knew me long before I
even started searching you didn’t even make a
