How to Create a Smooth Metallic Finish.

Items needed:

* Low-tack/safe-release tape
* Paint tray
* 9" roller frame
* 9" Contractor Series premium roller cover (3/8" nap)
* 9" Contractor Series microfiber roller cover (1/2" nap)
* Nylon/polyester brush
* 6 1/2" roller frame
* 6" Contractor Series premium roller cover (3/8" nap)
* 6" Contractor Series microfiber roller cover (3/8" nap)
* 1 or 2 gallons of Interior Latex Matte paint ( base coat color) depending on your wall surface to be covered.

General Preparation:
Clear the area of all decorative items and move furniture to the center of your room. Protect any adjacent surfaces such as ceilings, wood trim and baseboards by masking them with low tack tape. Properly clean and prepare all surfaces prior to applying any products.

Step1. Apply Base Coat Color:

Apply two coats of Interior Latex Matte paint in your base coat color, following the label directions for recommended drying and recoat times. Matte finish is required for proper results.

Step 2. Coat with Metallic:

After allowing the base coat to dry completely, apply the Faux Impression Metallic. Use a brush to cut into corners and around trim, but immediately blend it into the body of the wall using a 6" microfiber 1/2" nap roller. Cover the remainder of the walls using a 9" microfiber roller.

Once your finish is dry to touch, gently remove the low-tack tape, reset your room, and enjoy your newly personalized space.

Question:
Are there any issues associated with painting over a textured surface?

Answer:
A common problem with existing textured paint is that it can be water-soluble. If you use a waterborne product directly over such a surface, it may cause the existing texture to begin to soften and fall off of the surface. Test a fast-drying alkyd primer on the surface. Alkyds have the best chance of not wetting the texture paint. If the alkyd primer does not prevent the softening of the texture, then you may have to consider complete removal of the existing texture and reapplication of a new coat.Application of a fresh coat by roller may be easiest for most; however, in some cases it may not be possible to roll over texture paint as this, too, could cause it to come off. In such cases, application via airless spray may need to be considered. Test the application method over a small area prior to painting the entire surface.

Faux Impressions® Latex Glaze

The various effects available from Faux Impressions®
Latex Glaze are accomplished by applying 1 or more layers of colored glaze over a base coat.
Since the Latex Glaze is translucent (tinting creates a transparent glaze and mixing with paint creates a semi-opaque glaze), the basecoat color influences the finished appearance.
It is a recommended practice to preview color choices on a 2 ft by 2 ft practice board prior to painting your project area.
