Sports / Algeria Vs Nigeria: Gernot Rohr Replaces Moses, Onazi With Omeruo, Kayode (pic) by dpfaces(m): 10:52am On Nov 07, 2017
The coaching crew of the Super Eagles has called up Kenneth Omeruo and Olarenwaju Kayode to replace the injured duo of Ogenyi Onazi and Moses Simon.

Nigeria is putting finishing touches to preparations for their final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria and a friendly match against Argentina.

While Kayode was called for the time since the African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, Omeruo was already on the standby list on the original squad announcement.

Omeruo last represented the Super Eagles in a 1-1 draw against Senegal in late March, and like Kayode, hadn’t been involved in a squad since the defeat by Bafana Bafana.

As of Monday, many of the squad had already reported to camp in Rabat to begin preparation for Friday’s game in Constantine.

Ahmed Musa, Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel Agu and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa were the first four to arrive in camp on Sunday, along with the technical and backroom staff, and they were joined on Monday by 11 players including new call-up Kayode.

Politics / Osinbajo Reveals 'incredible Things' That Happened Under Goodluck Jonathan (pic) by dpfaces(m): 10:40am On Nov 07, 2017
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has uncovered what he described as “incredible things” former President Goodluck Jonathan did in office.

Osinbajo said this while speaking at the legislative economic summit themed “Legislative Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development” in Abuja on Monday.

Osinbajo uncovered things which he said happened in Nigeria a few weeks before the 2015 general elections.

He said under the administration of Jonathan, Nigeria witnessed barefaced stealing and waste of resources unprecedented anywhere in the world; the situation, he alleged, caused the recent economic recession.

He said between 2013 and 2015 with oil prices averaging up to $110 per barrel, “sometimes going to as high as $150, the government of the day somehow contrived to increase national debt from N7.9 trillion to N12.1 trillion; while reducing external reserves from $45 billion to $28 billion as of May 2015.”

According to Osinbajo, under Jonathan’s watch, there was also inflation of contracts and other procurements which, he noted, always made the cost of infrastructure necessary for development unaffordable.

He added, “Of course, we all know that there was very little by the way of investment in infrastructure and capital projects. In fact in 2015, capital spend was less than 11%. So there was very little to show for where this money went.

“I don’t want to keep repeating some of the incredible things that happened, a few weeks before the last elections; how large sums of money, a 100billion in cash ostensibly for security. Another $289million in cash was paid out in the same period.

“No country can survive that kind of unbridled waste and corruption. We must never forget, that corruption is perhaps, the most outrageous cause of our economic decline.

“Aside from barefaced stealing or waste of resources, the inflation of contracts and other procurements ensures that the cost of infrastructure necessary for development will always be unaffordable.

“So if what we should spend on building a 200km road ends up being spent on a 20 km road, there is no way we are going to make any progress and there is no way we won’t end up in some kind of economic decline or the other,” Osinbajo stated.

“In 2015, oil prices fell to as low as $28 at some point. But worse still, throughout 2016 we lost almost a million barrels a day in oil production due to vandalization and sabotage of oil facilities and pipelines. We lost something in the order of about 60% of our revenues. Yet we could have survived without going into a recession, I think Dr. Teriba so ably stated that, we could have survived if we had savings. But we had no savings only debt.

“As economists would say, and as Dr. Teriba had said, we did not have the fiscal buffers to enable a counter-cyclical approach. In other words, we lacked the savings to see us through the lean times. Why? Why did we lack savings, when so much money was being made? This is the elephant in the room.

“Today, we can say that despite the 60% or even more reduction in revenues from oil, we are bailing out the States and our capital spend in 2016 was close to N1.3trillion, the highest yet in the country’s history. So with more prudent management, it is possible to do more with far less money.”

Celebrities / Meek Mill Bags 2-4 Years In Prison For Violating Probation (pic) by dpfaces(m): 10:28am On Nov 07, 2017
American hip hop recording artist, Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison on Monday after violating his probation, according to CBS 3.

The rapper, 30, who was already under probation for a drug and weapons case, was arrested twice this year.

Earlier in March, he was arrested in St. Louis and charged with misdemeanor assault for an altercation with two airport employees.

Also, in August, the rapper, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek William, was charged with reckless endangerment for illegally riding his dirt bike in Inwood.

He took a plea deal and the case will be dismissed after six months of good behaviour and 30 hours of community service.

In a statement, JAY-Z, who runs Roc Nation, the management company that Mill is signed with, called the sentence “unjust and heavy handed.”

“We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career.”

Dear members!

As usual, in the New Year season the System is experiencing heavy workload. Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media. The things are still going well; the participants feel calm; everyone gets paid – as you can see, there haven’t been any payment delays or other problems yet – but!.. it is better to avoid taking risk.:-)) (Moreover, there are almost three weeks left to the New Year.)

Hence, on the basis of the above mentioned, from now on all confirmed Mavro will be frozen for a month.

Why?

The reason for this measure is evident. We need to prevent any problems during the New Year season, and then, when everything calms down, this measure will be cancelled. (Which we will definitely do.:-))

Business / An Open Letter From Sergey Mavrodi (MMM) To The Nigerian Authorities by dpfaces(m): 5:29am On Dec 12, 2016
Honorable authorities,

So far MMM has come under a constant attack from you. In this regard, I would like to ask you a few simple questions. Since you are concerned with the interests of millions of your fellow citizens, I hope that you would be so kind to answer them.

1. What are you trying to get? Do you want the MMM System to collapse and millions of people to suffer? Who will support them then if now MMM is their only means of livelihood? Will you? You even don’t pay wages to people? Or might you not care about them? Might you be using a trendy topic to make a good name for yourselves? What will you say to a mother who will have no money to buy food for her child? Will you let her child die for the sake of the higher interests of the economy?

2. You say that MMM is a scam. What is the scam here, if all members are warned in advance about all the risks, the possible and impossible ones? They know there are no investments at all. The warning is a red text on a yellow background placed on most prominent place of the website.

3. You say that MMM is bad. Why? Yes, it produces nothing, but nothing gets out of the country either. The money is just redistributed among the citizens of Nigeria. It gets from those who are richer to poorer ones, in this way restoring social justice. What''s wrong with that?

4. You have repeatedly stated that "it should be investigated!.. researched!.." It means you know nothing about this System yet; you even haven’t understood how it works. Isn’t it completely irresponsible of you to make all these allegations and play with the lives of millions of ordinary people?

5. And finally. If you know what is right for people, why is the life so bad in the country?

Sincerely yours,
Sergey Mavrodi

P.S. As for your statement that "everything will collapse soon". The system has been working in Nigeria for a year, and according to your estimates, the total number of members now is about 3 million people. In Nigeria the population is approximately 195 million. Can you calculate? Will it be “soon"? :-))

Family / 11-year-old Nigerian Girl Accused Of Witchcraft By Her Father (PIC) by dpfaces(m): 4:37am On Dec 06, 2016
According to UNICEF Nigeria, 11-year-old Nigerian girl Brenda (not real name) was accused of witchcraft by her father, who held her responsible for his misfortune in life. She was beaten and thrown out the house.

"Brenda now lives in a church, doesn’t attend school anymore and her desire to be a doctor now seems a pipe dream." said UNICEF Nigeria. "Ironically most states where children are accused of witchcraft and maltreated have passed the Child Rights Law. When families fall into hard times, a child is accused of using witchcraft to bewitch the family. In this period of economic recession if we do not start a campaign on strict implementation of the Child Rights Law to protect these children, maybe more would be branded witches"
