Nigerian police rescue Kano man locked up in his parents' garage

A Nigerian man has been rescued from the garage of his parents' house in the northern city of Kano, where he had been locked up for three years, police say.
Ahmed Aminu, 30, was discovered after a police raid on the family's residence.
Neighbours had alerted a local NGO about his plight, and the police were then called.
Mr Aminu's father and step-mother have been arrested and police say further investigations are under way.

Nigeria's 'torture houses' masquerading as schools
In a horrific video shared on social media, an emaciated Mr Aminu, too frail to walk, was assisted into a vehicle as he was taken to hospital.
He had visible calluses on his knees and his bones were apparent through the little flesh left on him.
"We found Aminu in a terrible situation, urinating and excreting in same spot without [being] given any food and looking like he was going to die at any moment," Haruna Ayagi, head of the Human Rights Network NGO, told the BBC.
Police said the man had been locked up by his parents on suspicion of drug abuse and left without proper food and health care.
Some reports said he had been locked up for seven years.
This is the second time this week a victim has been rescued from horrific conditions in their parents' house in Nigeria.
On Wednesday, police in north-western Kebbi state rescued a 10-year-old boy from an animal pen where he had been kept for two years by his parents.
The BBC's Nduka Orjinmo in Abuja says that northern Nigeria has a drug addiction problem but with few state-funded facilities, some parents are resorting to self-help for their troublesome children.
Some parents have sent their children with drug problems to private religious rehabilitation centres, but some of those have been raided by officials who described them as "torture houses".
A BBC investigation in 2018 exposed horrifying conditions at a state centre in Kano, where patients with mental health issues were chained to the ground.

The next time you watch Davido.on MTV Base, just know that the person who made that channel a reality is an Igbo man. Be grateful for once

You are a LIAR!

Daniel Lebern Glover is not Igbo. His both parents and Grandparents are non-Igbos. They are even non-Nigerians!
He's Igbo. DNA Testing and Ancestry Tracing shows he's from Igbo. Just as the guy who acted Black Panther underwent DNA testing and said he was Yoruba, so did Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino.
Jidenna Mr Classic
Damn!!! How did I even forget Bambi.
Bro, posting this on this tribalist filled thread is not good.
The ones you've posted is enough to create a new thread and tag it "50 Hollywood/European Superstars that are of Igbo Ancestry".
It's time to shut this Yoruba peeps and tell them that they're not the only tribe in Nigeria. And that we are capable of a pain inflicting counterattack. It seems so silly to compare Igbo to Yoruba by the way. What about that guy (Phillip Emefiele) who developed one of the fastest supercomputers? Pls do well to add him to the new thread you'll be creating.
Thank you.

Igbos and inferiority complex are Siamese twins!! I can bet,70% of the people on this list are not known in their neighborhood talk less of being a star, you just came here to post random names when you are not an INEC official that wants to rig an election. Like I always say, yorubas are not your mates in any field of human endeavor.......hundreds of years before the monkey became domesticated, the dog has been sharing shelter with humans.
Shut the fvck up u ignoramus. Carefully Google each of the name and see if they're not making waves. Tribalist idiot. Mtcheeew

I knew this was coming.
I knew they wouldn't bring him back to account for the money he pillaged.
What I didn't know was that it would happen the same day the interview happened.
Wonders shall never end in Nigeria.

Damedu:
black race is cursed I guess...even when the slave trade was on, it was black that sold their brothers and sisters in slave trade....the white paid for every slave either in cash of exchange of things...the white man doesn't force them to sell their people.....you can see black man history....
The black race is not cursed or anything. Its just that we are still experimenting with the independence returned back to us by the white bastards who stole it.
Things worse than wetin dey happen for Nigeria dey happen for South America (excluding Brazil and Argentina) and Asia (excluding China, Japan and SKorea).
Its simply because all this countries irrespective of continent are still new to self governance. And its not like the whites can do it better either. Its because of Europe have had millennia of successful successive self governance and rulership.
Eventually, we'll get past all this commotion happening today

I watched the hilarious act on AIT.
Nigeria is seriously a failed country in governance.
This act just shows u he had involved himself in nefarious activities because someone with clean hands wouldn't have to be jittery and feel like ants are in his boxers.
No matter the organization in Nigeria, corruption soaks into them like aboki perfume.
Even the head of a whole anticorruption agency is under probe.
Isn't that seriously ironic? This present Nigerian government is so intensely horrible.
