aieo: yea some peepz are admitted based on merit, that's correct but its few, i beat my cut off twice but was not admitted, decided τ̅☺ try uniben, here i Am. The level of corruption there is high nd that fact cannot be overruled. Can one be guaranteed admission in physiology with aggregate of 43? That's my sister's score nd the question i asked, then some guys turned it into a case of ridicule.I get d drift but then, this corruption of a thing is everywhere and high in Uniben too. I know of someone that wanted law in Uniben but was given fine and applied arts instead and he accepted. He didn't even beat the cut off mark for law but a few days to his matriculation, his department was changed to law. From fine and applied arts to law. Magical right? As regards your sister, if she beats her cut off mark 'well enough', she will be admitted. For instance, an aspirant of pharmacy dept gets an agg of 56 and the cut off mark for pharmacy is 55. Yes, he beats the cut off mark but then again, some other aspirants may hv gotten an agg of over 60. Such aspirants will be admitted before the person that got an agg of 56. So if only 20 persons are to be admitted in this dept, and about 20 aspirants have 60 and above as agg, they will be admitted while that aspirant with 56 agg is denied admission. So figures. Anyways, I wish your sister the very best |
Surgeon29: Really? Thanks. You're already a student of the department I guess.Yeah. U wlcm |
aieo: Hmmmm.....Hmm...this isn't totally true. People are admitted here on merit too. It's not really about connection. I was admitted based on merit. So what are you trying to communicate? |
Surgeon29: Am Gideon (the Surgeon)Wow! Best I've seen so far Welcome to d department, bro |

[quote author=aysuccess99][color=#006600]i can prove to you that there are more exam malpractices in JAMB, if there no exam malpractice in JAMB, why do students who pass jamb fail postutme? it's because of the fact that they cheated in JAMB and when they don't have the chance to cheat in POST JAMB, they end up failing. Also, let's take for instance, UNILAG whereby it's one student with a computer system, how can their be cheating? Also, in other universities, students are distributed randomly whereby your What about a situation whereby the student didn't pass JAMB but passed Post UTME and that student was admitted just because he/she used his/her long legs? |
[quote author=aysuccess99][color=#006600] Do you want to tell me that universities don't have their sites whereby they make announcements about their ADMISSION PROCESS.? And also students who fall victims of this fraudsters clearly shows that those students are the one that cheated in JAMB. If you didn't cheat in JAMB while would you be afraid of Post Utme. And this has clearly shown that students fear POST JAMB than JAMB because there's no examination malpractice in JAMB and they also new that if they do Some students are so desperate and they'll do literally anything possible to get admitted. Most students are scared of UTME than Post UTME because it's nearly impossible to bribe JAMB. JAMB is also aware of how people cheat in their examinations that they've deviced a means to curb that. JAMB has changed their style/method of setting exam questions , more reason why students get scared of UTME than Post UTME, where one can easily pay the Vice Chancellor and Lecturers, and just like magic, the student is admitted. |
aysuccess99: @DR. AMANDA, do you want to tell me that there's no examination malpractices in JAMB examination?@aysuccess99, I'm not saying that there are no examination malpractices in JAMB but you'd agree with me that the rate of it in Post UTME is higher than that of JAMB. To your second question, why will schools sell out more forms than their carrying capacity? Isn't it to gain more money? During the processing and arrangement that the money is spent on, don't you think they have their own commission from it? |
SHOULD POST UTME BE CONDUCTED IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES? Good day, Mr. Chairman, Impartial Panel of Judges, Amiable Co-ordinators, Accurate Time Keepers, Fellow Debaters, Ladies and Gentlemen. I am Miss. Amanda, representing Delta State University, Abraka. I'll say a big NO to the motion; should Post UTME be conducted in Nigerian Universities. Why NO? I'll explain to you in few minutes. First of all, what is Post UTME? Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Post UTME, is a screening test conducted by universities after the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, has been written by admission seekers before admission is offered to them. The use of such screening test came into being under the administration of the then Minister of Education, Mrs . Chinwe Obaji in the year 2005. Its sole purpose was to make admission process transparent, and also to check examination malpractices and curb it out of the Nigerian educational system but today, the reverse is the case. Most of the universities in Nigeria has turned Post UTME into a business venture, which has brought about an increase in corruption and examination malpractices in the education sector. The Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, EBSU, Prof. Fidelis Ogah refused to conduct Post UTME in 2008 because he noticed that most institutions had turned it to an avenue to enrich themselves. Prof. Ogah alleged that most Nigerian universities that conduct Post UTME do so 'primarily' to wring money from rich parents, whose children couldn't be admitted due to poor JAMB results, in just three years after it came into being. In 2011, The House of Representatives noted that the introduction of Post UTME in universities is subjective, stressful, and exploitative on parents and candidates, and therefore an abberation, and so, ordered the Federal Ministry of Education and National Universities Commission, NUC, to ensure the immediate abolition of Post UME in the Nation's universities but unfortunately, the order wasn't effected which paved way for the continuity of the screening test before admission is offered. Also, on the net, there are so many fraudsters. They set up a site, then claim to help students gain admission and unfortunately, most students fall prey to such predators. An example of such site is www.naijaaadmissions.com. According to them, all one needs to do is create an account with them, then they help you gain admission through their 'connection' with the Vice Chancellors, Lecturers, or the Admission Officers of chosen universities. On their wall, you'll find a list of some students they've helped gain admission and according to them, they've helped over 370 students. Unfortunately, most students end up getting duped, frustrated or even admitted on wrong platforms. This is unlikely to happen if Post UTME isn't conducted by schools. Admissions should be left solely to JAMB. Since the use of this screening test came into being, there has been cases of students offered fake admission, then the bubble bursted while they were already far gone in academic sessions. Such was the case in the University of Ibadan. About 63 students were discovered to be students of the school on fake grounds. The victims were 100, 200, 300 and 400 level students. One of the 400 level students, a victim, couldn't take it that he lost his sanity and was rushed to the psychiatrist. The people involved were among the school's staff. Can u imagine that? So tell me, why should Post UTME be conducted if it does more harm than good? Also, Post UTME is not necessary. It doesn't make any sense for a student to write school mock exams, WAEC, NECO, UTME, then Post UTME, a total of 5 examinations before getting admitted. All but Post UTME is uncalled for. In some countries like Canada, South Africa etc, they don't go through such long process but yet, they have such an enviable educational system. Nigeria should follow suit and see for themselves, the good aftermath. I hope I've been able to convince you with this few points of mine that Post UTME shouldn't be conducted in Nigerian Universities. Thank you. |
