President Muhammadu Buhari said Wednesday he will review reports alleging widespread torture and extrajudicial killings by Nigerian military in the fight against Boko Haram. In a report published Wednesday, Amnesty International accused the military of being responsible for the deaths of 8,000 prisoners. The report listed senior military commanders, including serving and past service chiefs, it suggested should be investigated for possible war crimes. Mr. Buhari said he will review the report. The Senior Special Assistant (Media & Publicity), Garba Shehu, said in a statement in Niamey, Niger Republic on Wednesday, that Mr. Buhari has received the report which he said contains many disturbing allegations. According to Mr. Shehu, President Buhari assured his administration will study the document and act appropriately. “I assure you that your report will be looked into,” President Buhari was quoted as saying. He said without meaning to prejudice the outcome of any investigation, Nigerians needed to be reassured that “this administration will leave no stone unturned to promote the rule of law, and deal with all cases of human rights abuses”. “Respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law are the life and soul of the democratic system. We will not tolerate or condone impunity and reckless disregard for human rights,” he said. |

JACK WILSHERE has been charged by the FA for bringing the game into disrepute following his Tottenham taunt during Arsenal's FA Cup parade. Wilshere grabbed the microphone at the Gunners's celebration and delivered a foul-mouthed chant. He asked fans: "What do you think of Tottenham?" Supporters replied "s***". Wilshere added: "What do you think of s***?" "Tottenham," chanted the fans. He apologised on Twitter for the act, but today the FA have charged him. FIFA president Sepp Blatter FIFA president Sepp Blatter is resigning as president of FIFA amid a growing corruption scandal, he announced on Tuesday at a surprise press conference. "While I have a mandate from the membership of FIFA, I do not feel that I have a mandate from the entire world of football — the fans, the players, the clubs, the people who live, breathe and love football as much as we all do at FIFA," he said. "Therefore, I have decided to lay down my mandate at an extraordinary elective Congress." There will be an "extraordinary congress" of FIFA and a new president will be elected, at which time he will step down the post he has held since 1998. This will take place sometime between December of 2015 and March of 2016, FIFA says. Blatter said he will work on "driving far-reaching, fundamental reforms" before he steps down. "FIFA needs a profound overhaul," he said. It's a shocking move. Two days after nine current and former FIFA officials were arrested in a $150 million bribery scandal, Blatter defiantly stood for a fifth term and was reelected in a landslide. Now, less than a week later, he's quitting. Here's Blatter's full statement announcing his intention to resign: I have been reflecting deeply about my presidency and about the forty years in which my life has been inextricably bound to FIFA and the great sport of football. I cherish FIFA more than anything and I want to do only what is best for FIFA and for football. I felt compelled to stand for re-election, as I believed that this was the best thing for the organisation. That election is over but FIFA’s challenges are not. FIFA needs a profound overhaul. While I have a mandate from the membership of FIFA, I do not feel that I have a mandate from the entire world of football – the fans, the players, the clubs, the people who live, breathe and love football as much as we all do at FIFA. Therefore, I have decided to lay down my mandate at an extraordinary elective Congress. I will continue to exercise my functions as FIFA President until that election. The next ordinary FIFA Congress will take place on 13 May 2016 in Mexico City. This would create unnecessary delay and I will urge the Executive Committee to organise an Extraordinary Congress for the election of my successor at the earliest opportunity. This will need to be done in line with FIFA’s statutes and we must allow enough time for the best candidates to present themselves and to campaign. Since I shall not be a candidate, and am therefore now free from the constraints that elections inevitably impose, I shall be able to focus on driving far-reaching, fundamental reforms that transcend our previous efforts. For years, we have worked hard to put in place administrative reforms, but it is plain to me that while these must continue, they are not enough. The Executive Committee includes representatives of confederations over whom we have no control, but for whose actions FIFA is held responsible. We need deep-rooted structural change. The size of the Executive Committee must be reduced and its members should be elected through the FIFA Congress. The integrity checks for all Executive Committee members must be organised centrally through FIFA and not through the confederations. We need term limits not only for the president but for all members of the Executive Committee. I have fought for these changes before and, as everyone knows, my efforts have been blocked. This time, I will succeed. I cannot do this alone. I have asked Domenico Scala to oversee the introduction and implementation of these and other measures. Mr. Scala is the Independent Chairman of our Audit and Compliance Committee elected by the FIFA Congress. He is also the Chairman of the ad hoc Electoral Committee and, as such, he will oversee the election of my successor. Mr. Scala enjoys the confidence of a wide range of constituents within and outside of FIFA and has all the knowledge and experience necessary to help tackle these major reforms. It is my deep care for FIFA and its interests, which I hold very dear, that has led me to take this decision. I would like to thank those who have always supported me in a constructive and loyal manner as President of FIFA and who have done so much for the game that we all love. What matters to me more than anything is that when all of this is over, football is the winner. The shock announcement comes a day after the New York Times reported that U.S. law enforcement believes Blatter's top deputy, Jerome Valcke, transferred $10 million in bribe money Read inessinsider.com/fifa-president-sepp-blatter-resigns-2015-6#ixzz3bvS2KJZx

Yul Edochie’s gay love interest has a special quality and that is; he has a knack for important and influential men [Pun intended] as he is apparently looking at investing on greater levels. Guess his next victim- Actor turned politician Desmond Elliot. Desmond took to his Twitter account today to reveal he’s being sexually harassed by a gay man named Steve. He said, "Okay a subject matter at hand. In the last 7 months or so, I have been constantly harassed by a man named Steve I have asked him politely, harassed him, spoken to him cursed him out just for him to desist from his sexual advances toward me but all to no avail. His constant stalking and harassment I believe has been witnessed by some of my male colleagues in the film industry.I told him 2weeks ago that if he didn’t stop I’ll be forced to take it out, my phone lines, I have to put off cos he calls every second of the day, ALL LINES, my watts app is bombarded with photos of his past love life and the very second you block his number he generates another and the unending calls continues. He is based in Canada, Igbo name I believe is Onyebuchi" "I have called my Canadian friends to help out.. the Canadian police have called many times, one lucky time he was asked to stop but I believe that’s the best they can do. please my people who are lawyers how do I go around this.. A humble plea. I believe there must be someone who knows him or heard about him because this guy isn’t new at all.. He’s taken my number to Many sites and I get calls from everywhere asking to connect for things am alien too."
