Apple has acquired Chinedu Echeruo’s HopStop.com according to the Wall Street Journal’s publication, AllThingsDigital reports.
Founded in 2005, HopStop.com makes mobile applications for both iOS and Android that covers over 300 cities and that helps people get directions or find nearby subway stations and bus stops.Although Terms of the deal have not been disclosed as at the time of this publication.
HopStop has often been compared to Israel’s Waze which was recently acquired by Google for $1 billion. The move is seen as Apple’s plan to bolster its map offering especially given Google’s recent acquisition of Waze.

Former Nigerian international, Finidi George, has been appointed the Youth Team coach of Spanish La Liga side, Mallorca.

The former Sharks winger, who made his Super Eagles debut in the 7-1 whitewash of Burkina Faso at the main bowl of the national stadium in Lagos in a Nations Cup qualifier, had played for Real Betis in Spain.


Finidi also played for Ajax Amsterdam, where he won the UEFA Champions League alongside Nwankwo Kanu. He also played in England with Ipswich Town.

Finidi also achieved a bit of worldwide fame with his celebration at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, when he went on all fours like a dog urinating after scoring against Greece.

Finidi had taken time out to serve as an intern coach at Dutch side, FC Zwolle on the way to earning a coaching badge.

The Federal Government has said it is under pressure from the international community to sign the Gay Rights Bill into law in Nigeria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, stated this in Abuja on Friday at an interactive session with the diplomatic corps, even as he accused the international community of hypocrisy.
He insisted that Nigeria would not sign the Gay Rights bill or abolish the death penalty without reviewing the constitution.

The minister said that Nigeria does not impose its culture on other countries and as such it was wrong for anyone to attempt to impose a foreign culture on the nation. He said, “This thing must be understood because we have been under pressure about this issue of Gay Rights. It is not part of our own culture, you need to understand that. It needs to evolve. Let us get to that stage of understanding that two men can marry, then we will get to the bridge and cross it, but please let foreign diplomats educate their various governments that you cannot come overnight and impose values that are not part of our tradition on us. Don’t impose it on us that we must allow it in our constitution. If we are talking about democracy, democracy is about free choice, free association you don’t force values on others.

A group of Indian engineering students have created electrified lingerie in hopes of protecting women from rape attacks inside the country.

The lingerie, called Society Harnessing Equipment, shocks anyone who touches the outside of the bra, while the women wearing it are protected by an inner polymer lining, The Daily Express reports.

"A person trying to molest a girl will get the shock of his life the moment pressure sensors get activated," said co-inventor Manisha Mohan, a student at SRM University.

Jose Mourinho is set to become the next permanent manager of Chelsea, and the Real Madrid boss wants Cristiano Ronaldo to follow him to Stamford Bridge, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Express, Mourinho's tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu will come to an end in the summer, and the Portuguese will replace Chelsea's intermin manager Rafael Benitez.

Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, says the state government has concluded plans to provide toll-free lines dedicated to attending to urgent issues pertaining to pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Fashola said government did this in order to “step up the fight” against high rate of maternal and child mortality.

Nani and Ferguson could face Uefa punishment if a disciplinary panel, which sat in Nyon on Thursday, chooses to extend Nani’s ban beyond one game and take action against the United manager for failing to speak to the media.
Uefa is expected to announce the panel’s findings on Friday and Van Persie could now face action after criticising Cakir and Uefa.
“That red card was heavily unjustified,” Van Persie said. “It was not even a yellow card or a free kick. Nani couldn’t do anything about it, he hardly touched Arbeloa.
“The worst thing is that Uefa supports Cakir. That’s cowardly, because I really don’t understand it.

The Hammers were named preferred bidders in December but negotiations with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) have been long and tortuous.
