The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), has stated that the price of a cow would sell for N2 million in Lagos amid controversy surrounding anti open grazing law.

Maikudi Usman, the association’s zonal secretary for South-West, said cows would be unaffordable in Lagos should the state government passes the proposed anti open grazing law.

Usman, who made this known during a one-day public hearing organised by the state House of Assembly on the anti-open grazing bill, explained that ranching, as being proposed by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led government, was capital intensive and his members could not afford it.

CelebritiesFemi Durojaiye Says Kemi Lala Akindoju Lacks Home Training by Dreyxam(op): 5:05pm On Feb 08, 2021
Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Femi Durojaiye has slammed actress Kemi Lala Akindoju, for ‘her uncouthness’, saying she lacks home training.

The issue between the duo started when Akindoju called out Durojaiye and accused him of exploiting aspiring actors by demanding money in exchange for film roles.

Akindoju tweeted on Saturday, February 6, 2021, after a post Durojaiye shared on Instagram attracted reactions among actors.

In the trending post dated January 29, the veteran actor had asked upcoming actors to pay ₦35,000 to join his ‘movie projects’.

Referring to him as “a certain Femi Durojaiye”, Akindoju referred to her colleague’s actions as fraudulent, maintaining that actors need not pay to audition or get a role in Nollywood.

Expressing his disappointment at the way Akindoju addressed him and aired her message, Durojaiye, in a chat with eelive.ng, said the former’s post was a complete show of shame, adding that he was disappointed.

While maintaining that Nollywood is an industry in which players respect each other, the veteran actor noted that Akindoju displayed unruly behaviour.

His words: “I felt so disrespected. I didn’t even know this girl from anywhere, I’ve never heard about her. People like me only go to social media for purpose, and as such all these young celebrities, a lot of us don’t know them.

“So when I saw what she wrote that one certain Femi Durojaiye, I felt deeply offended that such is coming from a girl that her parents are probably my fans. This girl that grew up watching me on TV; she was probably in nursery school when I started my acting career, referred to me as a certain Femi Durojaiye. She lacks home training.

“Of course, I replied her on her Twitter account …that in our industry, people respect each other. Her post is a complete show of lack of respect and I’m disappointed. It’s okay for her to disagree, but there should be proper decorum. This was a girl that didn’t even reach out to me and be like ‘Egborn (sic), I understand you are doing this, what is going on?’ At least, you must know your subject matter, the one you want to criticize. She had no idea of what I was doing.”

Explaining his reason for soliciting money from actors, Durojaiye said he floated a project dubbed Project 100, which was designed to train actors and expose them to the commercial value of the profession.

Durojaiye said the N35,000 fee was a requirement for actors to be part of the project which had been formally copyrighted with the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).

“As a matter of fact, our subscribers started with a formal class training on Production. And I’m happy to say that many of those who attended the training are still with us till today. They even took part in our first Movie project this year.

“Because of the genuineness of the project, which we designed to train talents and expose them to how to gain commercial success, Project 100 was formally copyrighted by the Nigerian Copyright Commission,” he added.

Popular rapper, Remilekun Safaru otherwise known as Reminisce, has revealed that his former signee, Ola Dips wanted to leave his label, LRR Records, at the time he terminated his contract.

In a story published on eelive.ng, the music executive said he didn’t have any problem with the 'Maybe' singer.

While admitting that he was surprised to see Ola Dips’ request to leave, Reminisce said he granted him the permission to move on within the period of two minutes.

Reminisce’s words: “Ola Dips wrote me that he wanted to leave, and I think my lawyer was with me at that time I was informed. Immediately, I mean on the spot, I granted his request. I will say that was the easiest label issue being resolved in the country so far, I don’t like to make noise about it and I just wanted to avoid all the drama.

“But that’s the truth. He came to me and requested to leave. Then, I granted his request by terminating our contract with him. On the spot, it wasn’t even up to two minutes… As for me, I’m cool with him, I don’t have any problem with him. As you can clearly see, I am a barrack, soldier goes, soldier come…”

When asked if he was considering another artiste for signing to his record label, the Alaga Ibile as fondly called said, “I’m done with artistes and their self-entitlements.”

https://www.eelive.ng/why-i-terminated-ola-dips-contract-reminisce/

This is the first time Reminisce will comment on Ola Dips’ exit from his label imprint. But the latter hasn’t been quiet about it.
Recall that in 2019, Ola Dips aka Omo Iya Aje, in Maybe, the song he released after his exit, detailed his struggles with Reminisce.

In the song, Ola Dips lamented that Reminisce was constantly reminding him how he wasn’t making money for the record label.

Using his contract with Reminisce as an example, Ola Dips advised upcoming artiste to stay off from bad contracts with record labels.

PoliticsLooted Kogi COVID-19 Palliatives: Yahaya Bello’s Lies Uncovered by Dreyxam(op): 2:20pm On Oct 29, 2020
Contrary to claims by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on a popular programme on Channels TV that his state was not among those, whose warehouses were looted by indigenes to cart away the allocated CACOVID palliatives, a source within the government circle has revealed that this wasn’t the case.

The source insisted that the incident happened in the state and also that the CACOVID food palliatives were left unattended in the warehouse.

Recall that the Kogi state governor said his administration did not hoard CACOVID relief packages, and that news reports claiming that the warehouse that stored the items was looted, were completely false.

He also stated that his administration had been distributing palliatives to cushion the effect of the infectious disease, even before CACOVID commenced help to other states.

However, contrary to what the governor said on the national TV, the source insisted that the state government took early delivery of the palliatives and refused to distribute to the people for reasons best known to them. A document, made available to our correspondent, showed that the food items were left unattended when the looters vandalised the warehouse.

Each household is supposed to receive a bundle containing 10kg bag of rice, 5kg bag of garri/semolina, one carton of pasta, two cartons of noodles, 5kg of sugar, and 1kg of salt.

Another document also showed that as of Tuesday, July 21, 2020, CACOVID had completed the delivery of noodles and some other items to the Kogi State government.

It was gathered that 90% of the expected food palliatives totalling 238,000 packages, which include – rice, pasta, noodles, semo/maize, salt, and sugar have all been delivered to the state government, according to the documents. The value of the food palliatives collected by the Kogi State government was put at N531 million.

Though the governor alleged, during the interview that COVID-19 is political, sources within the government however revealed that many isolation centres had been set up in the State as of Friday, May 22, with the full cooperation of the state government.

Commenting on the looted COVID-19 palliatives warehouse in Kogi State, Adeyinka Akagba, a civil servant said: “The Governor was just not fair to the people. He should have distributed the palliatives immediately it was delivered to him, rather than keep them in a very bad warehouse…The most painful part of it was the fact that the palliatives were fed to rodents instead of Kogi people, who were keen on getting the palliatives to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown.”

With a glittering career as an award-winning Nigerian actress, Kate Henshaw is an actress that radiates so much charisma. She started her acting career coming off the peak of her modeling career where she faced different brands.

Henshaw joined the Nigerian movie industry in the early 90s when the name “Nollywood” had not yet come into existence and has proven to be one of Nollywood’s most sought-after talents.

In this wide-ranging interview with Judith Audu’s Meet the Actor/Filmmaker, the Nollywood star discusses her passion for acting, and her efforts to make a difference. Eelive.ng brings you excerpts from the Instagram Live interview.

From medical microbiology to acting, how was the transition like?
It was basically curiosity, which didn’t kill this cat. I was curious to know what an audition meant. When the late JT invited me for an audition, I decided to go, because I was doing a lot of things while I was in medical school. I was a model, I worked at the International Trade Fair as one of the girls that would sell drinks.

I also worked at the Lagos Motor Fair, I was doing so many things. That was how I came in contact with the late JT Tomwest. I went for the audition and I was picked to play the lead role in my first movie When the Sun Sets. To me, it was a new experience but I had good people around me who were very supportive of this new person. I’m sure they didn’t even know that I had no training in the art but they were extremely supportive of me and here we are today.

How was your first role?
It was scary, I didn't know what was expected of me, what I was supposed to do. All I knew was I needed to get my lines, be prepared, and ready to take direction.

CrimeFrom The Pit Of Hell: My Horrible Experience At SARS Office In Lagos by Dreyxam(op): 11:09pm On Mar 31, 2018
On Friday, March 30, I had left my office headed for home for a much needed sleep, not knowing the shocker that awaited me.

On my way home, I met a friend, Stephen, who had been looking for me to assist a friend of his in distress.

Stephen rushed out of the restaurant as he sighted me, yelling my name until I heard. I honoured his call, we exchanged pleasantries, and I sat with him.

He told me how I was a God-sent at the time, as he had been on the lookout for me. He was with an unfamiliar woman and somehow, they needed my help.

They both told me that they needed my assistance to help facilitate the release of the woman’s son, simply identified as Seun, from the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos.

This would be my first time at the dreadful SARS’ office, and most of what I experienced while there couldn’t be better described than inhumane.

As we entered through the main gate, we met some officers at the counter, who asked us why we were there. We responded we were there to secure the release of a boy in custody and had been told to come by one of the officers who was in charge of the boy’s case.

Having said this, the officers insisted that we wouldn’t be allowed in until we gave them ‘something’. I had wanted to protest, but the woman whose son was in custody begged my friend and I not to, for the sake of her son. So, we complied by giving one of the officers N200 to be allowed into the building.

We called the officer in charge of the Seun’s case but, sadly, he wasn’t around. He had gone for a raid and wouldn’t be back anytime soon, he told us. We spent over 4 hours standing and waiting for the officer to arrive.

Meanwhile, the officers had warned us about the use of our mobile devices at the station. We were told to drop our phones but we managed to convince them there wouldn’t be any problem.

While we waited, it is indescribable the ill-treatment meted on the people that were brought in by the officers. Anyone, either a criminal or a suspect, was automatically subjected to malicious beating, assault, extortion, amongst other inhumane treatment.

I will recount few of my experiences there.

There were two boys I saw there, who obviously happened to be suspects. During their conversation with one of the SARS officials, I suddenly heard a thunderous strike, lo and behold, it was a dirty slap. A slap that sent the boy who received it sprawling on the floor.

Yesterday, February 13, marks another year of remembrance that General Murtala Ramat Muhammed, Nigeria’s then Head of State and Commander-in-Chief, was assassinated in Lagos, Nigeria’s then Federal Capital City.

The Nigeria’s fourth Head of State, no doubt rode into power on a promising note, as he displayed his readiness to deliver quality governance through proactiveness. Sadly, he was taken out of action when the ovation was loud for him.

On July 30, 1975, Murtala mounted the saddle of leadership but was killed less than seven months later in an abortive coup of February 13, 1976. Arguably, before his assassination, Mohammed had left his footprints on the sands of time.

Despite being surrounded by Oko Oba and Red House Police Station, the residents have been compelled to accept their fate, as the crime rate in that area increases every day.

Newsroom‘s correspondent who visited the community learnt that it is not out of place for Indian hemp smokers, fraudsters, serial rapists, and cultists, who carry out their activities not only in the midnight but broad daylight.

According to a resident who preferred to remain anonymous, security operatives most especially the policemen, comes into the community every Friday with stern faces and after a few hours of patrolling the area, they depart and everything returns to the abnormal normal. It was gathered that in rare cases that arrests are made, the misfits are soon seen back in the neighbourhood, continuing their reign of terror.

The community youths leader who identified himself as Akeem said, “I really don’t have the right words to describe the nature of criminalism in my area. The area houses all sorts of criminals. Our community is now where fraudsters have turned to a base, those that have been declared wanted outside now lives in our community.”

Akeem also revealed that residents had taken certain steps to stop the menace, but to no avail. “We have written petitions, there are no traces of anything so far. Personally, I went to the task force to submit a petition but it leads to nothing, we have even offered a bribe to some policemen. Yet, nothing has happened. Policemen come every Friday, but they only come to collect money.”

Newsroom further learnt that there is a local woman who provides all manner of illicit drugs in the community. The woman simply identified as ‘Iya Modina‘, is said to have grown up in the area and has been in the sale of marijuana, codeine and other drugs for a long time.

Despite the common knowledge of her trade, Akeem informed us that the woman has never been arrested or questioned by police. Even those that smoke at her place do so comfortably as if it’s normal.”

“It has now even turned to cultists war in my area now. Eiye and Aye cult groups are currently fighting. As a matter of fact, several people have been injured already. They have become so many that we can’t go out in the night again. Our kids can’t go out because of rape. There are many unreported cases of rape,” Akeem added.

The traditional leader of the area, Alhaji Kamoru Adesina Balogun, Baale of Orile Iju told us of steps have been taken by the community leaders, to make it safe.

Balogun said, “I have done several things like writing petitions amongst other things as a community leader. I and some landlords have personally gone to chase these people away, they are just too much and still, they came back.”

Balogun identified one Gani who is also known as Surutu, as the leader of the pickpockets and notorious thieves of the area. Balogun said, “Gani is a very big thief, many people have been robbed and lost their valuables to him and his gang members.”

Addressing the rumour making rounds about bringing a ‘union park’ for tricyclists in the community, Balogun said he knows nothing about it. According to him, if such development is coming into the community there is no way he would not be aware.

Efforts to reach both the police and local government officials proved abortive as they refused to speak to us as soon as we identified ourselves as journalists.

According to eye witness accounts, the fight started around 4:30pm and it was settled amicably but the Hausa man who works at Abattoir wasn't satisfied. Few hours later, he returned with the soldiers and the rest is history.

Akinleye Segun, who also witnessed the scene alongside Newsroom condemned it in its totality.

According to him, the act was a gross abuse of power and the military should act fast because the man was whisked away. "The soldiers have no right whatsoever to interfere in the matter. A fight between two citizens is a civil matter and should have involved the Police and not soldiers. They are needed more in Benue and not here brutalising defenseless citizens, " he told Newsroom.
