Honourable Sanai O. Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, has made known that that state government is making a move to reform the energy sector.

In an exclusive interview with Newsroom.ng, Agunbiade revealed that the state government is having a reform of the energy sector, where Lagos will be able to generate and distribute its own power independently.

Agunbiade disclosed that the move is to boost the economy of the state. He said, “as you know power supply plays a vital role when it comes to the driving of any economy. As a matter of fact, it is a primary driver of the economy.

“With the reform, the state would have enough economy to power its economy; it also means the economy of Lagos State can run 24hours. More so, there will be more job for people, which implies that there will be more investors, more commercial activities around the clock.”

Agunbiade further lamented that there is no constituency project at the Lagos State House of Assembly. “No money is given to parliamentarians and legislators to execute projects in within their respective constituency.” He added.

When asked what the House is doing to encourage youths’ involvement in politics. He said the House has nothing to do with encouraging the youths.

His words; “The youths need to encourage themselves, it is an open theatre. Nobody invited most of us to go there, all you need to do is to develop interest. A lot of people admire to be a member of the parliament and has never been there for once, nor watch the proceedings.

“Don’t stay and condemn people that are there, saying they don’t know how to do it. It is not about age but about passion and what you can offer.”

Nigeria’s Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade and Investment, Olajumoke Omoniyi Oduwole has said it is not the government’s obligation to provide jobs for the masses.

In a quest to affirm her statement, Oduwole stressed that the role of the government is to create an enabling business environment for everybody to thrive.

Come December 1st, gospel artiste, Lanre Teriba will be sharing the same stage with Muslim musicians at Ijebu Praise Concert.

Speaking on the scheduled programme, Atorise as he's fondly called said he's more than willing to share the stage with musical artistes of the other religion.

Atorise stressed that the gospel is not restricted. "The gospel is not meant for a particular set of people, the gospel is for everybody. And since it is about worshipping the same God we believe to be worshipping, we should embrace it with love.

"We should learn to know how to embrace people, how to extend love to people regardless of whatever factor." He said.

The much anticipated concert, which happens to be the first of its King in Nigeria will feature gospel artistes and Muslim musicians, performing their songs to the same audience.

Addressing newsmen in a press conference, Hon. Odeneye Kehinde, who is the event's host, said the need for platform like this to being unity in the society can not be overemphasised.

Hon. Odeneye said, "The idea of this programme is to bring musical artistes from the Islamic religion and that of Christianity together on the same stage, the same venue, and the same day. This is done to thrill worshippers and praise the one God we serve in unity."

He further explained that, Nigerians should learn to understand that both religion preaches peace and love.

US-based Nigerian film producer and author, Chinazor Onianwah has launched a ‘Waist Beads Beauty Contest’ for his forthcoming novel, ‘Sex Promise Made, Sex Promise Kept’, set to be released next month, November 2017.

Nollywood actor, Gregory Ojefua has said he cango nude in a movie, regardless of what anyone might think.

In an interview with Celeb Police, the actor who feature alongside Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde in ‘Alter Ego, said he can go nude in a movie depending on the storyline.

He, however made this known, while revealing his view on Omotola's role in Alter Ego.

According to him, culture is different from professionalism. And Omotola's role is paramount to the movie's storyline.

Defending Omotola, he said, "If or when I get married, in order for me to tell a story proper it requires me to go semi-nude or whatever, I will do it.

Referring to Omotola, he stressed; "If we are saying because she’s married she shouldn’t make the role in Alter Ego, it means the moment we run out of actresses that are single, nobody will do a love-making scene or go semi-nude. Of course No! it is just doing everything we do professionally, act responsibly, there is nothing wrong with her role in the movie, she was just trying to tell a story.

"In the movie, it was obvious she was trying to tell the psychological effect of what happens to her as a youth that ended up giving her that sexual problem she was dealing with. Those scenes just had to come to tell the story a bit more."

Making emphasy on his statement of going nude if required, he added; "I can go nude in a movie, depending on the storyline. Look at what Lupita Nyong O did in '12 Years A Slave', she went nude just to actually show you how slaves were dealth with at that time. That was a good reason to go nude, I would not just go nude in order to give a film accountability.

"My going nude depends on the story, stories like you want to shoot a slave movie again, you want to shoot a Biafra movie. I would do it to pass the message across. When you join the military, you sign with your life. Your life is no longer yours, it is for the nation. And as an actor when you decide to be an actor, be ready to go all the way."

Senator Andrew Uchendu, the father of US-based Nigeran actress, Blessing Anyim has been presented his official car.

Uchendu, representing Rivers East Senatorial district took over office from Senator George Sekibo who was removed from the Senate by the Appeal court in August.

It would be recalled that Blessing who was linked to be the daughter of Anyim Pius Anyim denies any connection with the former Senate President.

She said in video shared on her Instagram, “My attention has been drawn to articles claiming that I am Pius Anyim’s daughter. The news article has gone viral, and I am obliged to clear the air that I am not his daughter.

Popular gospel singer, Lanre Teriba has made known his intention to sing in the lingua franca of the Arab world.

The singer in an interview with Celeb Police, revealed that he has made a decision to translate his songs to Arabic language.

Teriba, fondly called Atorise while addressing the reason behind his intention, stressed that his music cut across.

According to him, he's not just a gospel artiste but an inspirational artiste.

He said, "Right now, I am planning on interpreting my songs in French apart from English. So whenever I am releasing an album, I want the subtitle to be in different languages because I sing in Yoruba. I want to have in French, English, Arabic and other good languages. The vision basically is to make the music cut across the whole part of the world."

Disregarding the fact that Arabic language is for the Muslims alone, he said; "That is not the truth, I can preach to anybody. It is just for them to buy what I am selling or not to buy it. It is a matter of choice, but my own is to pass the message and I must make sure I pass the message.

"I can tell you point blank that with my research, I have 50% of fans that are Muslims. That’s why I often say my own kind of music is inspirational, it is more than Gospel and that cut across.

When asked if he has performed in any Muslim gathering, he added; "I have performed in different Muslim weddings. I have entertained guests at Muslim weddings in the past and I am still doing that till now. Even this coming October, I have been booked to perform at a Muslim wedding already.

"They want to feel my music, they want to dance to my tune. In all honesty, these fans are committed fans. And this really has nothing to do with religion."

As according to the broadcaster, tithes were only meant for the Levites, who were descendants of Levi, the son of Jacob and Leah and “no one else.”

He posted on Instagram; “Tithes were only meant for the Levites, who were descendants of Levi son of Jacob and Leah no one else! These Levites are still around in Israel today.

“Levites were not allowed to own anything not houses not land or cars and DEFINITELY NOT PRIVATE JETS!

“The tithes were only paid once every 3 years in the year of the tithe Deut 14:27; NOT EVERY MONTH!

“Only 10% of the tithe was meant for the temple Nehemiah 10:38 the rest was meant for the sick, homeless, strangers, widows and orphans NOT PASTORS!

“Tithe was never money, IT WAS FOODSTUFF!

“Tithe was meant to be eaten with our families in the house of God.

“It is biblical to sell your tithe and buy beer and drink in the house of God. Deut 14:26.

“Deuteronomy 14:[22] “You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year. [23] Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence.

“This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the LORD your God.

Celeb Police in an interview with Ojefua who starred in the movie, learnt that the erotic scenes in ‘Alter Ego’ are professionalism at its peak.

He said, “There is no way anybody will have real sex while on set in this country. Not even Omotola who is a responsible married woman. However, that is the beauty in it and I think viewers should applaud film makers for shooting movie scenes like this, and you believing it is real it’s a plus on our side. Acting is not supposed to be a obviously ‘make-believe’, it is expected to actually come out as though, as if it was real.”

When asked if Omotola as a married woman should have played the role, considering the Nigerian societal culture, the star actor maintains that professionalism and culture are two different things.

His words; “There is culture and at the same time, there is professionalism. If we say she shouldn’t do it because she’s married, that means once we run out of actresses that are single, we won’t have anyone to use for a love making scene again.

“The truth is we are just doing what we do professionally and mind you, we act responsibly as well. She was trying to tell a story, she was trying to make the youths understand the psychology effect of what created the sexual problem she was dealing with, and those things just have to come to tell the story a bit more.

“If that was the way she lives her life really, that’s when culture can come in and you can say oh! it’s bad, but she’s just going out to do her job, to make people understand what life is all about, culture should hold nothing against her. Nigerian female pop star, Simi has no doubt stroke some wrong chords as she ridicules Nigerian men in an interview.

Recalled that the music star, said Nigerian men are not romantic as most of them have been structured into believing they do not have to be romantic. Thus, they hold a very high sense of entitlement.

Indisputably, Simi who was speculated to be in an intimate romance with Adekunle Gold and Falz, raised brows over her submission and Nigerian men in their views no doubt rubbished her intuition.

Jimoh Abiodun in a chat with Celeb Police, he revealed it’s very wrong on the singer’s side to have generalised her claims.

Abiodun said, “I will say it all depends on one’s perception on the concept of being romantic.

“I strongly believe that all men are romantic in their own unique ways, the fact remains that individual differences dictate/influence the level of being romantic among men.

“It is totally wrong for one to make a generalised statement as such without having conducted any research to corroborate her claim. I mean, Simi never said she conducted any research whatsoever on the concept that corroborate her claim that Nigerian men are not romantic.”

Seun Shotonwa, however claimed Nigerian men are too occupied to focus their attention on romance in a relationship.

He asked, “Romantic? Will she eat romance? Or she’s not well? �” Is it me that’s thinking of how to survive that will be thinking of being romantic?

“I’ve been sick for some days now due to stress. Please tell her to go outside the country, she will surely find a romantic guy.” Shotonwa said.

For Gabriel Alabi, Nigerian men are romantic but tend not to show it to the ladies.

US-based Nigerian actress, and (alledged) daughter of former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim has spoken about the on-going Biafra agitations facing President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Speaking on celebrities’ role in the crisis, Blessing Anyim said the Nigerian celebrities are in best position to use their influence to bring about stability, and peace in the country. She described these two as non-negotiable.

Blessing Anyim said, “Celebrities have the biggest platform to persuade or grab the attention of people. The roles celebrities can play to ensure the stability of the country cannot be overemphasised.

“Instead of keeping mute, they should use their platforms to influence and persuade the Nigerian society at large for peace and stability.

“In this part of the world, people don’t respect the democratic system of governance the way they are meant to respect it. Of course you have the right to vote the candidates who best represent your ideas and beliefs, so when situations like this present themselves, we have leaders who can come together and think of a solution to avoid the killing of innocent people.”

The fast rising actress, who is pursuing her modelling career in the US advised every Nigerian to embrace peace and social development.
