WHY WE SHOULDN'T ENCOURAGE SALT-DRINKING AND SALT-BATHING FOR EBOLA VIRAL DISEASE PREVENTION! By Dr. 'Malik Haruna King #1: IT IS DECEPTIVE: Just like eating bitter-kola for cure, drinking warm salty water (or bathing with same at night) has absolutely no proven scientific or medical basis or evidence for prevention of EVD. Truth is bitter but it's healthier than salty lies and false hope! #2: IT IS DISTRACTING: This would distract from the momentum we are trying to create for the effective way of preventing the spread of this deadly virus. Some people might become careless and lessen their commitment to personal hygiene and environmental sanitation! #3: IT IS DANGEROUS: Salt is powerful--it can kill! That's why for ORT (for diarrhea treatment), we tell you the exact amount of salt and sugar to put in a clearly specified amount of water! Careless drinking and bathing with salt-water, especially if done repeatedly, is NOT advisable. It also raises the blood pressure and affect the skin. #4: IT IS DISTURBING: I know of countries that have never had a single incidence of "Ebola", but have invested millions of dollars in research, gotten possible vaccines and drugs, done trials in animals (with success ), and have everything ready in case this virus enters their country! People are dying in Nigeria; see what we (including our graduates and scientists) are believing and broadcasting! Ebola virus disease is NOT (and has not become) airborne! Spread is by physical contact. |

"No licensed specific treatment or vaccine is available for use in people or animals... No licensed vaccine for EVD is available. Several vaccines are being tested, but none are available for clinical use... No specific treatment is available. New drug therapies are being evaluated." -- WHO [World Health Organization, 2014] A particular Nigerian Pharmacologist is among the sources of this misleading information that has gone viral. Saying that bitter-kola cures EVD and emphasizing that it is natural and has no side-effects or over-dose is simply wishful-thinking and playing on Africans' ignorance and gullibility! It is an unproven statement, and hence dangerous to the public! It's sinful to mislead people and offer false hope (all because of monetary gain) especially in deadly situations as this! Liberia, presently suffering over a hundred deaths from this disease has Her Health Ministry warn, "calling on the public to report anyone or group of people administering vaccines supposedly for the prevention of Ebola or any form of drug or tablets, herbs or injection in the communities to the nearest police station" and "anyone caught administering fake vaccine or tablets and even spreading wrong information on the Ebola disease would face prosecution." Don't let any unproven information make you careless. Protect yourself. Share. Rebroadcast. Please. True, nature abhors vacuum! There's an increase risk of developing fibroids with increase in age. There are, however, other predisposing factors. The earlier, the better. Medically, ideally, it is advisable for a lady to be through giving birth by the age of 35! 18-35years is the best for child-bearing. Fibroid is associated with late marriages and delayed pregnancy. |
Hi Slim Curtis, I understand what you are going through; I feel your pain. Having suicidal thoughts in such situation as yours is normal. But, we are here for you. And we need you around. I am familiar with sicklers. And the pains can be managed. The crises can be prevented. Talk to your doctor. For your emotional pain and family crises, you can rise above that. You are strong; sicklers are! You are not alone; most families, more than 90%, are dysfunctional. You are not alone. If you need to talk to someone, call me. Contact me. God keeps you. |
